A simple explanation for the inconsistent nibs: I work in injection molding, it is not unheard of for two molds that make the same parts to vary a tiny bit. Molds get dirty, I mean really dirty. All the gasses created from plastic under high heat and pressure make a mess. To clean them you got to pull the plates apart and pull out the cavities (in this case the face of the key, the rear would be on the core side) You need to clean and polish to keep a consistent finish and an easy release. There is a release additive in the colorant used but that's a whole other topic. Its not impossible that the two nib cavities got swapped in cleaning or even just wore down over time but the latter is unlikely. Once you put a mold back together, set it in a press and start it up you are not going to stop it until it needs maintained. For a cheaper set my money is on there was a tiny mix-up when rebuilding the molds. It can also be a process issue. Those "wings" are called flash, parting line flash to be exact. Parting line is where the mold splits to eject the parts. This happens when there's too much packing pressure, not enough clamp pressure or a myriad of other things that can cause it. If the mold is not properly balanced you will get inconsistent fill across all cavities. Inconsistent fill is called a shot, when a part comes out short of a full part if that makes sense. Double-Shot means the part was made of Two separate "shots" of plastic layered on top of one another. That's a very expensive mold, I would venture this mold runs very high cavitation as well, probably a stacked mold, 256 parts per shot (one round of injection to make a part) likely around a 5 second or less cycle, probably $1M or more if you wanted to buy one. Hope that helps.

GMK earns a fuck ton of money with every product being sold in the matter of minutes. I absolutely cannot stand paying triple the price on secondary markets.
.. I've had some crap AKKO and GMK inconsistencies, especially around edges. Again, solution sandpaper. As far as the font .. umm look at the pictures 👀 before buying. As far as LED light bleed through that can happen with any keycaps set. The problem is only solved by hand painting underneath the keycaps.
I like to view these knockoff keycaps to the same way I view people pirating movies. Statistics prove that those who pirate at a young age are more likely to actually purchase content when they come into money as an adult. I am living proof of that. I used to pirate every movie and show I can think of, but now I actually buy films, shows, and music, whether it be physical or digital. People who buy these, specifically the younger generation, are more likely to one day buy genuine GMK's when they come into money. But if you're frugal like me, you'll buy these knockoffs even if you can afford genuine GMK's. 😂
Bro, group buys exist because almost no vendor in the hobby has the financial ability to mass-produce these things. People can't always afford stocking tens or sometimes hundred thousands of dollars worth of inventory to sell over the course of long time (keep in mind most of these are small projects, which is also why IC's exist).
@@coffeemug6114 chinese factory successfully made clones and stocking things, maybe they should've cooperate with chinese/ indian factory instead to press down the price. simple as that
I've bought clones once. Never again. They are not worth the money because the quality is usually bad. Even if the quality is somewhat good, there are so many better options other than clones.
You need to buy a real gmk set to really make the comparison. I watch many youtubers, and they all say that it is worth it to buy the real thing. They say it just feels way better sound better . And for me , why the gmk keycaps are really worth it, is because the value does not depreciate. When you have clones, ppl can easily get them online for just as cheap as you sell them and your clones pretty much have no value but when you buy gmk, you can always sell them for the same price you got them, and definitely sell it for more(sometimes even 3-4x more!) have you taken this into consideration? You may have spent alot of money, but trust me, its an investment, and one that’s definitely well worth it. In the long run you dont really lose money and actually gain money when you sell these off.
Here's the thing, GMK are dumb expensive, you are paying a hefty price tag for keycaps as well as you are going to be waiting a very long time. Now if someone is looking at 35 dollar keycaps, do you really think they have the money to dish out for GMKs because I know I didn't. As long as high demand items maintain high tag prices, there will always be company's ready to make money of them by creating clones. When you talk about a keycap set being worth it, you need to look at what you are getting for the price. You can compare $130 keycap set to a $35 keycap set, that's unrealistic. The way most people would look at this is, for $35 what does these keycaps provide me with? It's simple, he wanted looks and feel, and for 35 he got that. I wanted the same for my clone set and I got it which for me that's a win.
Unless you are making keyboard to be put on displays, your keycaps will depreciate over times. This argument literally makes no sense. And you are saying stuff about investment when almost 70% of mech keyboard user just want their board to look good and sound good.

I don't care about original or not. all that matters is the product value
Those stabilizers 😂 omg
Stop yelling at me! Really good breakdown though, sometimes you truly get what you pay for.
What are gmk
you didnt have to tell me about the nubs on j and f now it hurts when i see them
Can you plssss do nb681 vs rk84 vs k599
wht happend to the other channel ? "the review guide" one ?
Can't afford any higher than 20 so I got the gmk pilot clone for 18
The Akko keycaps are also GMK clones
they're not clones they produce their own designs afaik
If it would be every other keycap not a clone and if he would get money for the „test“ then but only then he wouldn’t be that critical
Fake gucci for all us nerds!
You say the Shift key is like the real GMKs (which you point to) and then continue to say it's not the real GMKs. What??
GMK are just too pricey. Like I know it is for enthusiast but it could have been cheaper for a large of audience to use. Group buys are stupid too.
However I do agree with your GMK statement
@@coffeemug6114 chinese factory successfully made clones and stocking things, maybe they should've cooperate with chinese/ indian factory instead to press down the price. simple as that
yes, worth it
No ISO De 😢
Hello sir pls do review rakk pirah pls 🙏🙏🙏
I've bought clones once. Never again. They are not worth the money because the quality is usually bad. Even if the quality is somewhat good, there are so many better options other than clones.
thx
30 bucks or 200 bucks and have to wait literally a year..... Hummm
Personally, yes. Ethically, probably not
Ethically still yes
You will for sure lost value on your GMK if its unboxed or has lost texture on some frequently used keys
Imagine paying hundreds of dollars on real GMK keycaps that shine in a few months. We all know who's the real clowns here.
so there is no difference... gotcha

Hi
as much as i wanna support designers, i simply cant and dont want to spend a ton of money on keycaps alone
First keep it up!
