I was never inside an original Bronco, but I'm both surprised and disappointed that any of them had automatic transmissions.

Why? The manual transmission was a three-speed on the column. I owned a 1971 Bronco. It was noisy, rough riding, cold in the winter, had no air conditioning (not available), manual steering (power steering not available), manual drum brakes (power brakes not available), had an AM radio, and it got 15.5 mpg, I was 22 years old and thought it was the greatest thing I could own.

@@buckhorncortez I understand. By the seventies you already had to shop around for anything but an automatic, and except for a few imports and farm pickups, the manuals were pretty much all three on the tree, as we used to say. I thought of the early Broncos as pretty basic, and that would have precluded autos in my estimation. But that's just me.
