Halibut at Swiftsure Bank - Summer Kick Off

- Just getting fishing season kicked off at Sekiu Washington. Keeping the boat at Mason's resort and have the motorhome up the hill. Will be spending the majority of the summer up there and fishing around Neah Bay and the surrounding areas. The water was great and I wanted to test out the new Duckworth 24 Offshore on the ocean - so we headed to Swiftsure Bank in search of some Pacific Halibut. The halibut were thick and fish hit instantly on either bait or copper pipe jigs!

Yessir finally getting some blood on the boat! Headed up to Sekiu this weekend for the Ma4 salmon opener. Going to be an awesome summer! If you make it out towards sekiu or neah this year let me know!

We were out Westport very snotty Thursday last week, we were only people at launch. Got it done went home. Out lapush week prior same waves lol but got it done. Landed also some silver grey rockfish first time ( not bad eating).
BOAT is in for 100hrs maybe out in 2 weeks mid July.
@guymoreland6271 you’ve been busy - right on! Silver Gray rockfish..would be curious what that was! We’ve been getting some black cod the last few years…smoked up a batch last year and it was fantastic.
I’ll be at Sekiu till mid August then gonna hitting Westport for Tuna through September. I think I’m most excited about that fishery since I’m still new. Super fun to learn new fisheries.

Boat is back be out next week, Thursday Westport. Guess tuna and salmon no halibut till August. You heading out soon?
Guy shoot me an email and we’ll trade phone numbers. I dragged the boat home from Sekiu bc I have some family functions to attend this weekend and am having an issue with my ACR not charging my house battery. Time for a mid season tune up. With all the construction going on the drive to Sekiu I might try to sneak down to Westport for either Salmon or Tuna if the reports keep coming in after the blow. Im dying to try tuna on my own boat. Been 3 times on others boats and have read and listened to all the Del Stephens stuff. Told myself to wait till August or Sept but not sure I can! 🤣 Super excited to learn something new! My email is rutledge zero four at gmail.
