I cut my plate mount a little with a Dremel tool. made it looked angled but an inch away from the body. Little DIY but worked great.

If you look at the stock grill, it’s a functional grill, that’s right functional.
It actually guides air into the intake, that’s why you have divided slots at the top of the stock grill.
I’ve shown this to all my friends when I owned my Sti, and kept the stock grill
I have an aftermarket intake which uses the fog bezel vent for air.
Me personally, I was never a fan of the JDM Grill. I like the stock one. But I'm also that weird Subaru owner that doesn't like mud flaps, hella horns, or carbon fiber.
Your Ocean blue STI is sick man. My ocean blue WRX looks good. I only added fog lights and a Vortex Generator. Keep up the good work brotha. Your attention to detail on modifications is awesome.

Love the review style vids. IMO the 18+ the JDM grille doesn’t make a huge difference as it did for the previous years. Just save up for the Carbon Fiber one man #OEM+Gang

Thanks for the thorough review! We've sent out an email to you to see if we could help resolve the issues you brought up. This is the first I've heard of any fitment issues on this grille. Have you tried taking the screws out and re-positioning it to see if it fit any differently? I've checked the fitment on the vehicles that we've installed it on and haven not seen the gap you seem to have. Feel free to reply back to the email we sent and let us know.

I feel the 18+ didn’t really need the all mesh grille like the 15-17 needed badly. Couldn’t justify the purchase for such a subtle piece.
Yeah the 18+ grilles are a step in the right direction over the previous version for sure.

I've been talking with a shop about cutting my bumper to show more of the fmic showing pictures of a car. Turns out it's been yours this whole time! Hahaha was the process pretty easy? I need to sand and repaint my bumper so I think this is a good time for the chop!
Cutting the bumper is really easy. The plastic is really soft and easy to cut with a sharp knife. Any rotary cutting tool (dremel, cut-off wheel, etc) will just melt the plastic.
How’d you go about installing the rally armor flap bracket with the Subaru splash guard fender liner?
It just fits in there. I can't remember exactly how I did it tbh.
My WRX Channel really?? My splash guards definitely look like I’d need to cut that fender liner bit a little to fit the bracket. Maybe I’ll need to take another look
I try to stay away from OLM products if there are other options. Always something not quite right about their stuff.

Didn’t you have a Perrin front plate mount ?
My old Perrin mount was for the old WRX. It does not work with the 18+ bumper.
Floss works much better. Didn't need the heat gun at all to remove the emblem. Just a little patience.
No...there are two tabs on the inside of emblem which will prevent any type of line to go all the way through. Much faster this way and the heat relaxes the adhesive for a cleaner and faster removal of the old adhesive. BTW, dental floss doesn’t work as well and not as strong as fishing line. Stop giving bad advice.
I actually really dig the grill. I want to know, do you still notice the gap? Does it still bother you? You seem extremely detail oriented, and I wouldn’t argue if you seem a little unhappy with it.
TBH, I don't notice it anymore.
@@CarsWithJR I have had a similar issue with the OLM products (Fog light bezel), On mine it was an issue with the tabs. Looks like you have the same problem with that one tab not locking in like its supposed to. Subispeed has sent me replacements that didn't have the issue on the replacement but it still didn't fit quite as perfect as OEM. After i few weeks i also got over it. 2 years latter with the coating peeling off not so much though.

I think there's a reason subaru didn't make a jdm style grille from factory. The design doesn't really suit 18+ cars imo
