Just a very mildly interesting fact: you’ll notice during the CNN broadcasts, the very, very bottom of the screen is not covered by any graphic (there is the “breaking news” overlay just above the bottom because we do love our intrusive graphics.) At the time the attacks occurred on September 11, almost all cable US news channels were like this. Because so much information was coming out, an information crawl, similar to a stock market “ticker”, was added to the bottom of the screen on all news outlets. Since that day those crawls have never disappeared. Like I wrote, mildly interesting to know exactly when an aspect of news reporting in America changed forever.
