    I like how Shadowcat stood up for Nightcrawler, when in Days of Future Past it was established she thought he was real gross.

    And that, children, is how Professor Xavier learned the most important lesson of all: *"Magneto was right."*

      Actually not too long after this, Prof put Magneto in charge of the X-Men in continuity while he (Xavier) recovered from injuries. This was how X-Factor was originally formed. The original X-Men (except Jean since she was dead) refused to follow Magneto and started their own group.

    1982? So this was pre TDKR and Watchmen. Was this considered 'controversial' for the time?

      Definitely.

      It very much was due to the content matter and some of the "situations" in the story. Although it does show a point of view that nobody cares about and the ignorance of fear.

      CircuitBreaker or divinely guided? I remember Claremont said he one of his old bibles completely 3 time over the course of making this story just to make sure he doesn't say anything sacrilegious.

    As a Christian and the grandson of a Pastor and son of a worship pastor. I too hate televangelists and think that they are modern Pharisees. I love this book and actually found it because of a book sale at my church.
    Also very Ironic that Stryker pointed at the only devout catholic on the team, at that point, as an example of a “non human” mutant

    It's been a year since I started watching ComicPOP (back when the channel was TV Little House), and subscribed immediately. Then somehow unsubscribed, and resubscribed when I realized my error. Anyway... I'm glad you got around to God Loves, Man Kills! It's one of the few TPBs I owned prior to ComicPOP reigniting my love of comics! Woo!

    Nice shirts. I definitely want that Vader with Infinity Gauntlet. Also, good references in this one. Those days of the X Men were very motivated by social issues at the time and the story suggests what you're commentary made on point. Good video. I miss the old X Men stories. IDK WTF is going on in them now-a-days.

    I reckon with this and Avengers vs X-men both done, it'd be really cool to do Messiah Complex. It's basically the story of how Hope is born, and features the purifiers heavily, and was a huge X-men crossover (yay for X-factor)

    • @kevinmarques7716

      I would love to see them do the Decimation storyline after House of M when Stryker attacked the Xavier students in the New X-Men comic. So many prominent teenage characters were killed during that story and it really cemented Stryker as a purely evil man who is everything wrong with humanity.

    • @kevinmarques7716
      @kevinmarques7716 9 років тому

      True but watching his followers blow up a bus full of children then systematically hunting down and murdering more children really brought it home. Yes they murdered kids in this one too but his whole mission in Decimation was specifically targeting children and that is disgustingly evil.

    • @kevinmarques7716
      @kevinmarques7716 9 років тому

      +pious83 I get it. This story showed he was evil. I think murdering countless more children shows he's even more evil. Now let it go. Both stories are great at showing he's pure evil.

    I'm some what new to your channel. I've been watching for a couple months. I haven't been in the current comic scene. I stopped reading and collecting around DC's new 52 which was right before getting married. So my $50-$80 spending on comics had diminished to nothing. I'm slowly getting back to reading. I've really enjoyed the back issue series, it's gotten me wanting to read some of the titles. I will make a request hoping you guys will plan for these some time in the future. I'd like to see a video of two of my favorite runs. DC's 52 and Y: The Last Man. Thanks guys keep making videos and I'll keep watching them.

    I do wish you brought up a bit more about Strykers ideology because it is more rooted in religion than this summary makes it seem. He doesn’t just hate mutants because of his wife and kid being a mutant, but also because in the Bible it states that humans were made in the image of God. That is why he points to Nightcrawler in the end of the book as an example of it being against God’s creation.

    Lol they say X-Men is a soap opera yet all anyone cares about for the last decade in Spider-Man is whether or not Peter and MJ will get back together. Extreme double standard there. The X-Men is an extremely well-written, character-driven team, Claremont era especially. Some of the most iconic moments in comics have happened in X-Men. You don't haveta be a fan of them but you can at least acknowledge they deserve their place as comic icons. Spider-Man has never been one of my favorite characters but he definitely deserves his status.That being said, I'm glad you at least liked this story. I know it didn't sound like it at first, but I do enjoy every Back Issues episode. Just figured i'd give an X-Men fan's perspective opposed to the non-fans in Comic Pop. Looking forward to the next one!

    • @kevinmarques7716
      @kevinmarques7716 9 років тому

      And with Magneto's psychic defenses, it was established quite a few times that Xavier taught Magneto how to protect himself from psychic attacks back when they were friends. Just verifying that it wasn't just made up for this story lol.

    Just so you know for when you do Inferno or any of the other books which involve Ilyana she ages 7 years in Limbo having been stuck there at the age of 7, she is with the New Mutants for at least one year before the events of Inferno which lead to the age regression back to 7, then, of course, she dies from the Legacy Virus which is retconned to have been given to her by her older brother when she and the rest of the new mutants went into the future to see what would happen to them in a few years, her brother says he will cure her and uses the process to initially removing the legacy virus from him to her because the Limbo magics make the Legacy virus not affect her as long as she is related to the magic stuff, with all of that it just overcomplicates she gets legacy virus and dies. After House of M Belasco the person who captured her and raised her partially in Limbo as well as stole parts of her soul tries to bring her back to life because he noticed her having returned to life due to the House of M, he tries but he only resurrects Darkchild who doesn't have a soul(also Belasco was trying to prepare her to be his bride originally and that may be partially why when she gets brought back she's probably 19,-21 or likely whatever language most of the old new mutants are.) Belasco wants to get her soul so he kidnaps all of the new x-men who was in the mansion and DarkChild takes some of Pixie's soul to make a soul sword and this time kills Belasco(first confrontation she didn't kill him because it would make her more demonic). She regains part of her soul in the events of Infernus and starts to work with the X-men, then she joins the new mutants participate in second coming and then unleashes the elder gods and destroys them using Legion and unleashing him such that age of X is caused to completly regain her soul as well as get revenge on the Elder Gods to whom Belasco and the demon N'Asarith(from inferno) were servants to.
