Very very true words. Contentment is a muscle we all need to work on. I also got rid of Postmark and Amazon. I also don't shop at Target or Walmart (or any "everything" store) as they tend to impulse purchases. I've never used a food delivery service (except twice a year pizza) and I go buy as much in person as I can. If it's not important enough to leave the house, it's definitely not a need.
Reviewing bank statements and categorizing expenses is such an eye-opener! It’s amazing how much we can spend without even realizing it. Starting with awareness really makes it easier to cut back and be intentional. Thanks for the practical tips!
Hey Joan 👋. Yeah, I've been through this myself. My obsession with 'Stuff' disappeared when I started budgeting back in 2020. When I started budgeting, everything changed for the better x
Budgets give your money a place to go, like an emergency fund and savings. It's exciting to see your savings grow and it can keep you from frivolous spending.
Great video! I have regularly spent more money than I have. For the last few years that has changed. Now buying only most necessary things. And my budged has increased significantly. Thanks for the video. :)
The IDENTITY!!! On point. Sometimes it’s hard when there’s cynical people around you who doubt that you can change-you say you’re gonna start saving money and they laugh. Such toxicity. Creating a new identity can be hard. But use their doubts as fuel, prove them wrong!
I agree, it’s hard to create a new identity, but completely possible, even when you have people around you that will always think the same of you. Thanks so much for watching!
I wish the amazon app told you how much money you've spent each month, 6 months, a year and all time. That would be a serious wake up call (for me at least).
7:15 I thought at first it might be an age gap thing (I found everything you described up to that time stamp-unreleated), but now I doubt that. 8:10 Groceries. That may vary. A list does help a lot to keep you grounded.
- Question #1: Do I buy new things so others can see me with it? a new car, outfit, etc...is only new for the split second that people see us with it, then it's yesterday's news. 'Keeping-up-with-the-Joneses' is counterproductive to a healthy lifestyle. It causes more stress and depression, than any type of joy. - Question #2: Everyone must ask themselves, "do I fully understand 'needs' and 'wants'?" Beyond figuring out that difference, is truly evaluating 'wants'. Put off purchasing the 'want's for as long as possible, and you may find that it no longer has any importance in your life. It has even faded from being a 'want' to an afterthought. - Question #3: Buying online is easy, but how much do I influence the local economy? Having the venture out to search for your item locally may result in finding it at a cheaper cost, or moving it to the 'afterthought' position...and you may end up not even purchasing it. - Question #4: When we go shopping, do we stick to the list?
I’ll buy new electronics only when the ones I have break. And then I will not buy the newest version but newest minus 2 years. I am not buying new clothes unless I really need them (for example I got fatter and cannot fit my trousers). I meal prep every week. I don’t believe in loans for different reasons than mortgage and health - if I don’t have money for new TV, computer or whatever that means I need to live without it.
Good suggestions! I must remind myself that “I’m not a compulsive shopper anymore”
Keep spreading the good word!
Thank you. Glad you liked my video!

I just kind of changed overnight lol, but these are great tips for those who struggle! I’m still into fashion, just not wasting money
I'm glad you liked the video! That's great you have that awareness that you can appreciate fashion but not waste money.

Need to learn how to spend actually but tips like you're sharing allowed us early time freedom.

Haha yeah that’s a great idea! But why would they, because they want you to keep spending. 😬 Thanks for watching my video!
I really like your point about identity. I am not into fashion/ I'm a minimalist.
It’s really helped with my habits and decisions i make for sure!

I definitely relate to your thinking!
I always have a list and I must be the worst I go all over the place go for salad come out with shampoo sox and of dog toys I’m really bad
Haha I’ve been there! I still get tempted even when I have a list but I remind myself constantly that I’m on a budget. Thanks for watching!
I do good one year then fall back into the spending I just need to stay focused
You can do it!
Folks complain that there “aren’t stores” in their area. Then, they shop on Amazon for junk from Amazon.
Our economy suffers when we buy online.
You are totally right! I do my best to support local store fronts.
good video yet again, thank you love ❤️
