i think you assume quite a lot to know his mind. if anything ( i will attempt to assume) he would likely tell you to find something worthwhile to do with your time, than to focus so negatively on something like that.
Disagree. The Scouring of the Shire is absolutely essential to the story. The first stroke of the War of the Ring happens at Bag End when Frodo accepts the Quest, though not knowing the full extent of it, and the last stroke of the War also happens at Bag End. A brilliant set of bookends to frame the saga within. Then, and only then, can Frodo find healing in the West as he departs with the three Elven Rings. The story would not be complete without The Scouring and The Grey Havens. The last line in the story, spoken by Sam, "Well, I'm back." is, by far, not only the best ending line, but summarizes the entire Quest from Sam and Frodo's perspective. They cared nothing for praise and glory and being heroes. They just wanted to be simple people living simple lives. Something we also really should aspire to.
No plot twist at all Cindy. Glorfindel said hundreds of years earlier , the Witch King of Angmar had a fate, and said "For not by the hand of a living man shall he be slain". So Merry needed the Barrow blade made by the Dunedain, with spells on it for the downfall of the Witch King, to pierce and break the spell of armor that protected him, leaving him vulnerable to Eowyn`s sword thrust killing him. So, a Hobbit with a Numenorian blade bound with runes and a woman are the ones who destroy him.👁
Eru would never take any direct action that involved Middle Earth. He allowed Manwe to send the Istari to help guide the free people still in Middle Earth, and even they cannot use their own full power while aiding them. Gandalf would crush any evil besides Sauron with ease if he was not stuck in the body of an old man and commanded to guide and help, but never use force directly to slay Sauron`s servants. LOL Kind of like a Green Beret "A" team, a force multiplier and military teacher and advisor.
@@tom.m Oh he killed for damn sure, but by the decree of Manwe all the Istari were housed in mens bodies, so they could do the most help by council, aid and of course battle if needed. Nobody in the 3rd age knew they were Maiar, as was Sauron and Balrogs. He hints that Galadriel, Elrond ,Cirdan and Aragorn know that Gandalf is a Maiar . Olorin (his "real" name means fair vision or dreams ) That is why when he even merely walks past people they feel good and hopeful.
These documentaries are simply the best.
Am I seeing things or is that Graham McTavish?? He played Dwalin in The Hobbit movie!
Played him about a decade after this. I was shocked no one else seemed to notice in the comments of the previous videos.
It's a wonderful bit of serendipity. I hope he was also a fan of the books.
Yup! And also played in Outlander series most recently as well as Men in Kilts
Most excellent doc! Thank you SO much.
He would be kicking his casket open if he knows about amazons betrayal of Middle earth
and what else would we expect from them? just the latest installment of their sinister agenda.
I refused to even watch it, after I saw the way they were handling it.

The million reasons I love Tolkien
Pronunciations of Cirith Ungol and Celeborn are wrong, beside that, great analysis :)
Citrus Ungol and Cerebellum

Still totally love that it was a warrior woman who kills the king of the ring wraiths! Lovely plot twist. :)

@@gib59er56thanks for that explanation, elf friend… 😎
This is me favourite to watch before I go to beddy-byes
The ring was just too strong in that place for anyone to willingly cast it in or even away.
Could listen to Patrick talk about LOTR all day 😂
Was he one of the dwarves
Question: Did Eru Illuvatar knock Gollum into mount doom or was this total chance?

@@gib59er56Didn't Gandalf directly kill numerous orcs, probably a few wargs, the Great Goblin, and a balrog?

There should be documentaries that analyze The Wheel of Time and maybe even A Song of Ice and Fire when it gets finished (I have faith in Martin).
Whats the idea of the rock and roll music sounding of now and then whats it got to do with the Lord of the Rings?
They are all LOTR themed songs _ look for Christopher Lee's Charlegmane themed heavy metal albums
@@miltonberle1594 I believe you so what it comes down to is taste i like the ones in peter jacksons film
I wholly agree that modern architecture is soulless, to the very great loss of all of us.
Aragorn is my favorite character in LOTR,ing a type of Jesus Christ, THE King, the King of kings.
Aragorn is, of course, who I meant.
The rock music gotz to go.
very cheesy
That flute tune is pretty tasty though
It’s a nod to the influence of LOTR in 70s progressive rock
@@condelevante4It's like these commenters have never heard of Led Zeppelin. (A depressing thought.)
I feel like Tolkien proved hands down that all our religions and their corresponding manuscripts came solely from mankind's imagination
Literally every time that f*cking Humphrey Carpenter is on screen, I cringe.
Why so?
so?
Why?
He really got it wrong a lot, the Wade Center people talk about that, not the authority at all.
