I’m hoping to start uni next year. Your channel is one of the best because there’s not much on UA-cam about mental health nursing students. Thank you so so so much. I got my notifications turned on and I look forward to all your vids 💕💕💕💕
I’m studying Child nursing and literally I was feeling the same thing about almost fainting on placement ☺️😂 but I really enjoyed your video. I love seeing a different perspective on placement x
Can you upload a vlog about first year assignments and some important unities to study before starting your course. Thank you for your all videos I like them ❤
I almost collapsed at the exact same thing yesterday. My mentor was lovely though, watching me out the corner of his eye like 👀. I was there for a half hour. My first shift. I'm waiting on him eyeing me tomorrow and asking if I'll faint again lol
Love your nursing vlogs. You have given me lots of insight which has been very valuable to me. I am just about to start my 1st year of mental health nursing in September. Other than the books you have already mentioned in this vlog, are there anymore you would recommend for me to purchase? ☺️ Thanks, I'll look forward to seeing your journey through 2nd year. Good luck 💪
Hey I would really recommend waiting until you start university to begin purchasing more books! Every university recommends different books and some give you books for free x
Hi, i really enjoy your videos and i've applied to study mental health nursing next year in uni. But i want to ask a quick question, For placement does your university pick where you do your placement and how many days a week would you have attend for placement? cause i know this course is based 50% placement
I'm thinking about studying Mental Health Nursing but I'm scared because I've heard that patients can be quite aggressive for example those suffering with schizophrenia and self harm. Do you have the option to specialise in an area? I'd love to do more to do with addictions and eating disorders instead as that's what I'm passionate about but I'm assuming you'd have to gain experience in all mental health, just thought I'd ask anyway x
You definitely can specialise! A lot of people when they qualify like to work on acute mental health wards so they can see a variety of illnesses which then helps them to figure out where to specialise. Patients can become aggressive but it’s because they’re unwell we should never take it personally, you are taught how to manage those situations to keep yourself safe though. I have spoken to many different MH nurses and some say they’ve never felt threatened by a patient before or been injured so it’s more rare than you think x
Do they give you placement near where you go to uni or where you live can you pick like placements closer to home or is it completely out of your hands
Hey, you don’t get to choose your placement but they generally try to place you in an area close to where you live. The furthest i’ve had to travel for a placement so far was a 30 minute drive x

Are your exams written or on the computer

I know you said there’s a lot of A&P but how much is there, like is it one of the first things you do in lectures ?? Xx
We have 2 bioscience exams in first year so I had at least one bioscience lecture a week + revision xx
At uni you learn the theory behind what you’re doing and then on placement you learn how to be a nurse if that makes sense x
Do you get paid during placement?
No, we get student loans and a £6000 grant from the government to study per year x
@@EllaSofia1 Is the grant available to international students?
@@udobataifeanyi7021 it depends xx
@@EllaSofia1can you get a grant if you are applying to nursing school as a graduate?
