I never once thought this before I had one. But I’ve owned a German Shepherd for only 7 month now. I have raised him since he was 2 weeks old. He’s gonna be like this when I get back from being gone 8 days. Longest he’s ever been away from me. But now that I have owned one I can confidently say German Shepherds are the greatest dogs on earth.

Ha, yeah first time as a kid I left my dog for about two weeks on holiday, I was expecting a royal return....umm, my mum, who had been with her the whole time, and left the house for about half an hour to pick me up got the greatest greeting ever! I still remember that, but never get upset because dogs really don’t have any perception of time!

The German shepherd is one of the most affectionate, loyal dogs there is as I had one years ago and "Shep" was the best. Every night when I'd come home (3-4am) worked nights I'd walk in, he'd come out and greet me, ears pinned back tail wagging gently to say hi and give me a little kiss, he woke up to greet me his nose was dry as he was sleeping. After a minute he'd go back to sleep. He was a great dog and I miss him.
