Being deaf is like being in a foreign country but you don't know the language. You can tell by the facial expressions and gestures what the person is trying to say to you but you don't really understand what the person is actually saying.
He had an interpreter. The voice you heard off-camera was actually what Sean was saying. They also told him what everyone else was saying. Granted, they all seem to be talking at once sometimes so he missed that.
Funny how they all seem like their characters. Kathryn is the mediator and doesn't want praise. Natasha is level-headed. Gideon is motherly. Sean is affectionate with boys. Toby is wild and unpredictable. Jacques is a survivalist. Alex can be a little carless but also thoughtful.

But the actual reason he’s not in these is because he isn’t a main cast member yet. He wouldn’t have the option to be involved whether or not he has anxiety, because guest actors don’t do press like this. Hopefully he gets promoted to main next season and he will get to do more press :)
