I liked this first half. I got bored around ep 20-30 when they separated & placed the love plot in the back burner. I understanding it’s a life story of the main female lead but LYN and ZL are soooo good togetherrrr. I wanted to see more of them together and we lacked that in the second half up until the last couple of episodes. Their romance scenes are so sweet! It makes my heart melt. I heard about the ending and didn’t like it but I wanted to see it thru…still heartbreaking. They didn’t even give us the trope of a child between them.
Agreed 💯. The slow burner didn't bother me too much. But it was the lacking storyline, killing everyone off, & lack of screen time for ml/fl (together) that made me gave up on the drama. Nothing memorable or worth going back for.
Agree with a lot of the review and comments. Was looking forward to a new ZL drama especially paired once again with LYN. After a strong start setting up her backstory and their initial meeting it lost it's way when the writers set her character adrift from all her moorings. The 'family' that gave her purpose. This was never recaptures through all the jewelry/pearl business contrivances. Estrangement from ML, his revenge story and decline dragged on and on. Some good secondary characters had no place to go and were wasted.
Totally agree with review...in fact i didnt finish it as I heard about the ending. How can such a strong beginning end so badly. Well, me too, lots of K dramas at the moment and good reviews about Blossom.
I finished watching the drama, and ZLS did a great acting job. However, I didn’t like the middle part to the end. I found that the writers didn’t do justice to her character and other characters in the drama. I think she should be with 2nd ML instead of with LYN’s character. Also, I wouldn't say I liked the on-screen chemistry of ZLS and LYN in this drama. Also, I wouldn't say I liked the business aspect of it. I found it boring, and the ending was bad. I liked the first 18 episodes; after that, it went downhill for me. For the first time, I agree with Douban's rating of this drama. Because of this drama, I don't even want to entertain Brocade Odyssey. It is another costume business drama that is slow-burning and boring.
I’d watch lui Yunjng painting a fence, he’s so watchable and a superb actor. However, I can’t finish this drama as i need him to have a happy ending for once.
I don’t mind anyone spoiling the ending for me…LOL… never have which is why I read comments. I’m only at episode 17, but based on the comments…I won’t finish. Don’t like sad endings. I’m always amazed at ZL ‘s acting and like LYN, and adore “Shrimp” in all his roles. Very talented young actor.
Confuses me why some people even bother watching these c dramas. Why so many people who watch cdrama seem obnoxiously negative and angry? This drama was pretty good especially in the beginning. Middle was okay and I didn’t like the ending. I didn’t mind they killed off a lot of the support characters and I don’t mind business dramas. Theres always some place in the drama that’s a bit boring when they’re doing mundane things but those parts also hold the key to what’s going on in the drama in terms of the meaning behind everything and the messages the drama is intending to convey. As long as the plot/storyline are good then they can afford to kill off some people and have some “boring” moments. So the problem is not that they killed off some support and had boring moments the problem is they dropped the ball on the storyline towards the ending so those other details that cause emotional frustration whether intentional or not come back to bite them. My issue is that people only complain about it because they dislike sadness, trauma and heartbreak not because it actually affects quality of the drama. Killing of those support characters did not affect the quality of the drama. When I watch a drama I do it for more than just entertainment reasons. I’m looking for deep meaning, lessons, hidden messages that are poetic and can apply to real life. I’m looking for a character/situations/conflicts I can connect with somehow. I expect my mind and my emotions to be engaged. It seems like so many people watch these dramas just to see two pretty leads kissing and holding each other in every episode. What is dramatic about that?? And when they don’t get that and they get something mentally/emotionally involved instead requiring intelligence and emotional maturity then they say the drama is bad? lol. That’s super weird to me. Isn’t that basically looking for soft pron? Why watch these dramas? What’s really annoying is so many people leaving angry comments about this drama and c drama in general about how they’re all the same. Ironically the complaints are all the same. Wah they had sad moments and episodes where the leads aren’t together and blah blah blah. Like go for a romantic-comedy if you can’t handle something that’s not all rainbows and unicorns. It’s so annoying people criticizing a drama for being bad just because there some sadness/tragedy. Sadness is not badness. It’s okay to get emotional and cry. That doesn’t make anything bad. The ending in this drama was definitely lacking though. I couldn’t tell the last episode was the last episode. It’s very not memorable, not clear what the meaning/message of the ending is like in other drama where lead dies there’s a specific message that goes along with it and there’s a closure for the story. pearl girl either didn’t seem to have one or it’s very obscure which was/is not only disappointing but also confusing and makes me think perhaps I missed some details. I’m thinking about watching it again at some point. Overall I’d currently give it 6.5/10. Actors looked great and I enjoyed the cast, the acting, and the chemistry between everyone.
I am SICK to the hind teeth of the Mega-Death MacGuffin. It seems that the Chinese are so crude and unfeeling that the writers need to send at least half the cast to the guillotine to elicit a reaction to the story. Oh, is there a costume drama where Liu YuNing survives?? Him being in a drama tells you the end. This really is like all the other dramas this year, try and make the peasant girls cry. Predictable. Same storyline applied on dozens of dramas.
! Spoilers Alert ! …..The Story Of Pearl Girl ..this drama lost it’s soul when they decided to kill off shrimp and the rest of the group that were classed as FLs family .. the romance was neither here or there .. Zhao Lusi and Liu Yuning and the rest of the cast were fine just a badly executed story and ending .. very disappointing all round ..
No…..not Shrimp!! 😢. Why do they always have to kill off my favs! Now I know I won’t finish it. I’m at episode #17 but I can tell I don’t like direction it’s going. Thanks for letting me know and waste no more time.
@ LOL…. No, I thank you! I hated the ending of Kill Me Love Me. If I had only known, I wouldn’t have started it. I always say, if I want to see trauma, sad endings, I will just turn on the news! 😀. Give me a Hidden Love, The Double, King the Land, Love like the Galaxy etc….any day!
@@chestarr21batson46 Phew.. cheers .. I decide to watch these dramas so i can give a positive or negative review .. but usually i try not to give anything away … but i can see some would prefer to know some stuff so they can decide whether or not to watch ..In The Double i was so angry at the death of the MLs bodyguard brothers i didn’t care about the ending i just fast forward to the end and i was disappointed with the ending .. it could have been the perfect drama for me but failed…
@@92missymoo OMG. I thought it was just me. I forwarded right past the bodyguards too as well as that whole fight seen. I loved them and just couldn’t watch. Why oh why did they have to die? What’s wrong with writers these days? Thank goodness I found the extra scene of the ML & FL living happily later with their daughter. Okay going forward… you watch 1st and let me know. 😜. Ha ha.

Writers always disappoint me with how the last 5-10% of the cdramas are. Hoping the currently airing blossom will not fall into this category

I got bored and dropped it. I was distracted watching kdramas. It’s sad because it started off so strongly.

Me too, I’ll just rewatch the first episodes and quit after they go to the desert. In my head everyone lives happily ever after ❤
Zhao Lusi #1 acting is amazingly improved.

You should watch Married and Once again. They both modern dramas with good pace and story.
