Another one of these with the best one at 31. I can definitely understand why it isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. But man it’s great! One of the best explorations of true love I’ve ever seen in a film. First time saw all 31 films. Here is my 31 on 31!!! Dropping it before Sean and Cody's video because they are the closest to my thoughts and I don't want them to influence my rankings last minute. Here it is: 31) Titane (2/10) 30) Raw (4/10) 29) Midsommar (4/10) 28) The Blackcoat's Daughter (5/10) 27) Us (5/10) 26) Dead Silence (5/10) 25) Infinity Pool (6/10) 24) Possessor (6/10) 23) Terrifier (6/10) 22) Never Let Go (6/10) 21) Sinister (7/10) 20) Smile 2 (7/10) 19) Ouija: Origin of Evil (7/10) 18) MaXXXine (7/10) 17) Smile (7/10) 16) Hereditary (7/10) 15) Oculus (7/10) 14) Nope (7/10) 13) Ready or Not (7/10) 12) Crawl (7/10) 11) Longlegs (8/10) 10) Malignant (8/10) 9) Terrifier 3 (8/10) 8) The Exorcism of Emily Rose (8/10) 7) X (8/10) 6) Terrifier 2 (8/10) 5) Alien: Romulus (8/10) 4) Pearl (9/10) 3) Abigail (9/10) 2) Get Out (10/10) 1) Don't Breathe (10/10)
It is easily in the top 5 movies of the 2020's for me. The soundtrack alone is better than 90% of the movies on this list. All of the Terrifier movies ahead of it in this list? Now that's the joke.
Nice ranking Sean, Here's mine for the ones I was able to watch 1. Longlegs 2. Don't Breathe 3. Malignant 4. Get Out 5. The Exorcism of Emily Rose 6. Ready or Not 7. Sinister 8. Dead Silence 9. My first 31 on 31 where I followed along. Yours is only the second of the bunch I’ve watched, but I’m just glad one of y’all shares my top spot pick. Happy Halloween!
To your comment about Longlegs. I agree that the movie makes you pay attention and builds the tension, the issue for me was that it didn't quite capitalize on this tension, aside from the interrogation scene. It's like we have the idea, that this guy can break into her house, but we also previously learned that he goes to houses of families, whereas our protagonist is a lonely agent. So there's this weird dynamic, where you feel like the movie is creating the suspense for the sake of it, until we get the further plot development. If only we could take this pretty good technicality of Longlegs in terms of style and cinematography and use in a story more focused on serial killer, who's hunting our protagonist, that would work much better
This is a great ranking Sean! But also a great list of movies you guys chose for 31 on 31. The only movies on this list that are actually rotten on rotten tomatoes Never let go, dead silence, and the exorcism of Emily rose.
It hurts because I adore Midsommar since it is one of the best representations of cults and how someone can be pulled right into it. How trust can lead you down the wrong paths and make you less questionable about crazy stuff until it crosses a line but the line is way to far away at that point.
Man, cool you guys have met a bunch of the people in these circles. Horror cinema is in good hands all things considered. Longlegs Evil Dead Terrifier 2 Terrifier 3 Malignant Smile 2 Smile Titane Terrifier
Infinity Pool is one of my absolute favorite movies of the last few years!! I get so satisfyingly lost in the metaphors, themes, and performances. But I can totally see how it would not be for everyone
31: Dead Silence 30: The Blackcoats Daughter 29: Terrifier 28: Titane 27: Possessor 26: Malignant 25: Infinity Pool 24: US 23: The Exorcism Of Emily Rose 22: Sinister 21: Terrifier 3 20: Crawl 19: MaXXXine 18: Ouija Origin Of Evil 17: Ready Or Not 16: Don't Breathe 15: Smile 14: Terrifier 2 13: Never Let Go 12: Alien Romulus 11: Nope 10: Abigail 9: Smile 2 8: Raw 7: Pearl 6: Oculus 5: Longlegs 4: Midsommar 3: X 2: Hereditary 1: Get Out
@@thedisneynerd7866 Nice. I feel like I'm the only Malignant fan here. I put my ranking in the comments just now. I think I might be the only one who puts that in his/her top 10.
“Metaphors” and elevating his horror movies are what set him apart from other directors. You missed the point of Jordan Peele’s movies. Also, foreign movies can be much better than typical, basic, American movies. Its a different point of view, sometimes its better to be a bit more open minded and respectful of other cultures and points of view.
I feel like I was under prepared for hereditary. I saw a great cast and went for it. I also was beginning to appreciate A24 . Well… that movie changed me. If you don’t feel that you might have been jaded by others reviews. I felt every emotion I think they were trying to make me feel.
While I'm not particularly negative on most, I can totally understand a ton of these not being for you. One of the great things about this channel is you acknowledge the good eve if it is a film your not particularly fond of.
My ranking from my favorite to my least favorite from what I've seen is 1. X (5/5) 2. Pearl (5/5) 3. Hereditary (5/5) 4. Get Out (5/5) 5. Ready or Not (5/5) 6. Terrifier 2 (4.5/5) 7. Well Sinister sure scared the crap outta me 😂😂 I personally ❤ Drag Me To Hell. Wish it got more traction. Given it's not the most original plot but it has everything I could ever want in a horror film.
I didn't think that Nope was that on-the-nose with it's messaging. I do think that Glenn from The Walking Dead's backstory with the killer monkey was unnecessary, but I actually appreciated it's messaging and it didn't get dragged down for me at all.
The Watchers was surprisingly good, but I think a lot of was either familiar or underwhelming, and Dakota Fanning’s flat, wooden performance certainly didn’t help.
Hey Sean, I have been following your content for 7 years now and I love your videos! Just a thought - You could try checking out and reviewing a couple of Indian horror films... Tumbbad would be my personal recommendation but you can also check out other films like the horror-comedy Stree, gothic horror Bulbbul, supernatural-horror Pari or folk-horror Bramayugam
31: Ouija: origin of evil: a bland boring generic possession movie 30: Midsommar: a well made movie that's just not for me 29: titane: a weird movie that I'll never watch again or recommend it to anyone 28: terrifer: a movie that I can respect, I like art the clown: but its pretty light on story and looks low budget 27: dead silence: a generic creepy puppet movie that lacks enough scares 26: raw: I don't like cannibal movies and this is just another example its just gross 25: possessor: interesting, but not rewatchable at all 24: us: a well made movie with an intriguing concept but it falls on its face in the last act 23: smile: a creepy concept but its pretty dull and I hate the smile monster 22: the exorcism of Emily rose: an interesting courtroom drama at times but I think it meanders far to often 21: maxxxine: a highly stylized slasher but the mystery wasn't there for me and I didn't love the final act 20: oculus: an effective thriller with great performances but I wouldn't rewatch this 19: infinity pool: like posessor well made and interesting I just don't think I'd ever rewatch this 18: terrifier 2: bigger and better than the original but I still don't fully love it 17: the blackcoats daughter: effectively creepy at times slow and meandering at others 16: hereditary: a well made movie with great performances but I don't think I'd ever rewatch this 15: smile 2: bigger and better than the original with a great lead performance but the smile monster still ruins it for me 14: crawl: a great effective creature thriller but I don't love the characters 13: never let go: I know a lot of people didn't love this but I found it to be a creepy at times thriller with great performances 12: get out: a great movie with a smart message but I don't go back to it which is why its not in the top 10 11: don't breathe: a great concept with great thrills but like with most of this list I won't go back to it often 10: Terrifier 3: a movie that is bigger, better gorier and surprisingly more fun than the first 2 this is also the only one I saw in theaters though 9: X: a well made movie with great performances and aesthetic 8: nope: can get a bit weird at times but I still very much like this and the whole concept in general 7: sinister: a creepy movie with a great vibe and a WTF ending 6: malignant: a movie that I wasn't fully vibing with in the first half but the second half is fucked up and brutal 5: longlegs: a throwback serial killer movie with a great sense of tension the entire time 4: alien Romulus: a great close quarters thriller 3: ready or not: a movie with a great concept great tone and some nice humor thrown in 2: Abigail: a fun schlocky vampire movie with great characters and brutal kills 1: pearl: a character study that makes Pearl more interesting and has a great tone and aesthetic to it
I’ve only seen 20 of them so here’s my list from what I’ve seen so far: 1. Terrifier 2 10/10 2. Don’t Breathe 10/10 3. Malignant 9/10 4. X 9/10 5. Terrifier 3 9/10 6. Abigail 9/10 7. Terrifier 5.5/10 18. Sinister 5.5/10 19. Hereditary 4/10 20. Nope 4/10
I liked Ready or Not, but I feel like it was trying to copy the success of “you’re next”, I love you’re next and feel like they blended the horror and comedy better than ready or not
Midsommar has good cinematography but it is boring and way too long... A few eerie parts but overall just felt weird and too much daylight. I think Dead Silence is a better film but not by much.
I was real exited to watch crawl because i love crocodile's but i didn't enjoy the movie there's scenes where she gets bit on the leg and she's later running on that leg.
Love both of your channels Sean! Here’s my list for this batch of movies: starting off with the movies I hated: 31. Midsommar. Didn’t liked it at all. 30. Nope. It was the most disappointing movie of that year to me. 29. Crawl. I just don’t like animals as the main villain. 28. MaXXXine. I thought it was boring and didn’t enjoyed it all. Now for movies that I just don’t like: 27. The Exorcism Of Emily Rose. A very Generic exorcism movie. 26. Titane. Didn’t enjoyed it after getting hyped up by a friend. 25. The Blackcoat’s Daughter. Didn’t care for the tone and pace. Now for movies I’m mixed on: 24. Infinity Pool. Really liked the actors but I felt the potential of the movie didn’t came to fruition. 23. Dead Silence. I didn’t like it as much as I appreciated it. But I did enjoy the ending. 22. Pearl. I really think that X should have been one and done. 21. Ouija: Origins Of Evil. I liked it better than the first one but still not my cup of tea… 20. Oculus. Watched it once and it didn’t leave an impression on me. But to be fair I don’t remember it that well. 19. Possessor. I liked parts of it but not the movie as whole. 18. Sinister. I liked parts of it but not the movie as whole. 17. Raw. To artsy for me. I do think it’s a good movie though. Now for movies I mostly positive on: 16. Us. I loved the first half but really disliked the second. 15. Terrifier. It’s a good movie but the story is lacking. 14. Smile 2. I liked most of it but it was predictable at times. 13. Longlegs. It’s a nice movie but way overhyped. Now for movies that I liked: 12. Alien: Romulus. A nice return to form but I didn’t liked it as much as most people did. Also, some cringe parts in the third act. 11. Never Let Go. Saw it last month and liked it. 10. Don’t Breath. I liked it. Enjoyed the villain! 9. Smile. The most surprising movie on this list because I was sure I would hate it and for it to be similar to Truth Or Dare. 8. Terrifier 3. It was a nice sequel. Really liked the Christmas vibes 7. Abigail. I really really enjoyed most of it but didn’t liked the main character, how strong she was or her plot armor. Now for the movies I really like: 6. X. I liked it a lot but didn’t loved it as most people that I know. Cool story. 5. Ready Or Not. This movie was a blast. I enjoyed it for what it was. 4. Malignant. I really liked this movie and how bonkers it is. Now for the movies that I really really really like: 3. Terrifier 2. Art is perfect in this movie. Really enjoyed the kills, specially the bedroom scene. 2. Get Out. A great movie. Not a single complaint from me. 1. Hereditary. It’s my favourite artsy horror movie. I really liked some of the iconic scenes of the movie.
Top 3: Hereditary, Emily Rose, Terrifier 2 Bottom 3: Titane, Raw, Midsommar I swear I didn't plan having identical bottom 3 lol but I'm w you 100% on the worst of the list, no reason to rewatch any of those
For me: 31.) The Blackcoat's Daughter 30.) Titane 29.) Smile 2 28.) Midsommar 27.) Ouija: Origin of Evil 26.) X 25.) Raw 24.) Longlegs 23.) Nope 22.) Terrifier 21.) Dead Silence 20.) Smile 19.) Us 18.) The Exorcism of Emily Rose 17.) Possessor 16.) Never Let Go 15.) Infinity Pool 14.) Maxxxine 13.) Sinister 12.) Oculus 11.) Don't Breathe 10.) Get Out 09.) Ready or Not 08.) Crawl 07.) Abigail 06.) Alien: Romulus 05.) Terrifier 3 04.) Malignant 03.) Terrifier 2 02.) Pearl 01.) Hereditary 31-26 are bad, 25-19 are okay, 18-11 are good, 10-1 are great.
How is this supposed to be a laughable opinion? There's a lot of mediocre movies on this list. Romulus is well executed horror, regardless of if i have to guess your issue with fan service and it being not really original
I've seen 18 of these. 18. Titane 17. Malignant 16.Midsommar 15. Smile 14. Longlegs 13. X 12. Terrifier 11. Possessor 10. Ready or Not 9. Terrifier 2 8. Terrifier 3 7. Pearl 6. Alien: Romulus 5. Oculus 4. Get Out 3. Hereditary (this is technically the best one, but it scares the shit out of my too much lol) 2. Nope 1. Us
I've only seen about a third of these movies but screw it: 1. Abigail 2. Get Out 3. Ready or Not 4. Nope 5. Us 6. Alien: Romulus 7. X 8. Pearl 9. Crawl 10. Longlegs 11. MaXXXine All of them I really like

@@YupDock I suppose I’m not the best person to ask because movies don’t scare me. I just don’t see why or how sinister would be the scariest. And that’s in NO WAY a knock on the film. I just don’t see it as THE SCARIEST!!!!

A lot of the xenomorphs, face huggers and ship sets are practical. All the stuff that should be practical are practical and all the stuff that needed CGI was CGI (not saying the CGI is entirely great)
@MaxObi5555 not really, aspects of the xenomorphs in this one are enhanced with CGI. I know that as I work in CG renders and know the studio that helped with it. The xenomorphs themselves are practical but enhanced with CH
I've seen 18 of these: DID NOT LIKE 18 Smile (JusticeForMustache) 17 Us (literal plot ruined by metaphor plot) 16 Nope (literal plot ruined by metaphor plot) 15 Midsommar (too long; side characters suck) 14 Malignant (I'm a tumor I'm a tumor I'm a tumor) FINE 13 Alien: Romulus (same movie as Alien 1979; still good) 12 Abigail (side characters sucked; otherwise good) 11 Infinity Pool (pretty good but too awk to rewatch) TOP TEN 10 Sinister (one of the few jump scare movies I like) 9.5 Evil Dead 2013 (because Fede Alvarez is on here) 9 MaXXXine 8 Get Out 7 Terrifier 6 Terrifier 3 5 X 4 Longlegs 3 Hereditary 2 Terrifier 2 1 Pearl
Titane is great. Also look up how to pronounce it. And it really went over your head. Also just because you didnt like something doesnt mean you need to insult people who do. Also maybe question some of your own assumptions
I’m sorry but Hereditary is one of the most boring movies I’ve ever seen. Maybe a hate take but it’s one of the worst horror movies I’ve seen in the past 15-20 years

I don’t think the point Midsommar is trying to make is that the boyfriend ‘deserves’ what ends up happening to him. The point is that Dani is brainwashed into a cult.
Completely agree. He usually misses the point in a lot of movies and skews too much towards a certain direction.
I’m gonna be honest. I love listening to Sean Chandler talk about films and movies way too much.

Titane is the best horror film of the 2020s so far.
Heck no!
Joking?!
It is easily in the top 5 movies of the 2020's for me. The soundtrack alone is better than 90% of the movies on this list. All of the Terrifier movies ahead of it in this list? Now that's the joke.
I agree. He didn’t get it. I think its a good thing when movies have a message and take risks.
This has got to be the most split October 31 on 31

My first 31 on 31 where I followed along. Yours is only the second of the bunch I’ve watched, but I’m just glad one of y’all shares my top spot pick. Happy Halloween!
been waiting all month LETS GOOOO!!!!
Amazing job on the video Sean. Happy Halloween to you and your family. 🎃

I can't wait for the debrief
Well Sinister sure scared the crap outta me 😂😂
I personally ❤ Drag Me To Hell. Wish it got more traction. Given it's not the most original plot but it has everything I could ever want in a horror film.
Drag Me To Hell is my favourite Sam Raimi film. So underrated compared to his other work.
And hereditary is right up my alley it’s about real people who are somehow involved in demon worship which scares the crap out of me
I didn't think that Nope was that on-the-nose with it's messaging.
Get Out at number 1?! GET OUT of here 😂
Robert Eggers sorely missed
Hey Sean, I have been following your content for 7 years now and I love your videos! Just a thought - You could try checking out and reviewing a couple of Indian horror films... Tumbbad would be my personal recommendation but you can also check out other films like the horror-comedy Stree, gothic horror Bulbbul, supernatural-horror Pari or folk-horror Bramayugam
I do wish caveat and oddity were on this list but this left me wanting to watch a few others! Thanks!
Everyone has there opinion, in saying that Oddity was the most boring horror film this yr for me,only TV glows was worse.

I found your channel through Cody. And funny thing is my tastes match yours more than Cody. But I’m still not checking out the Terrifier movies!
I also dont know what i was smoking with blackcoat but this ones probably taking the group average for 31
Having Dead Silence over Midsomar is unforgivable
I'd say it's fair.
Here’s my list for this batch of movies:
starting off with the movies I hated:
31. Midsommar. Didn’t liked it at all.
30. Nope. It was the most disappointing movie of that year to me.
29. Crawl. I just don’t like animals as the main villain.
28. MaXXXine. I thought it was boring and didn’t enjoyed it all.
Now for movies that I just don’t like:
27. The Exorcism Of Emily Rose. A very Generic exorcism movie.
26. Titane. Didn’t enjoyed it after getting hyped up by a friend.
25. The Blackcoat’s Daughter. Didn’t care for the tone and pace.
Now for movies I’m mixed on:
I liked it better than the first one but still not my cup of tea…
Now for movies I mostly positive on:
16. Us. I loved the first half but really disliked the second.
15. Terrifier. It’s a good movie but the story is lacking.
14. Smile 2. I liked most of it but it was predictable at times.
13. Longlegs. It’s a nice movie but way overhyped.
Now for movies that I liked:
Really liked the Christmas vibes
7. Abigail. I really really enjoyed most of it but didn’t liked the main character, how strong she was or her plot armor.
Now for the movies I really like:
6. X. I liked it a lot but didn’t loved it as most people that I know. Cool story.
5. Ready Or Not. This movie was a blast. I enjoyed it for what it was.
4. Malignant. I really liked this movie and how bonkers it is.
Now for the movies that I really really really like:
And I’ve never watched it again in 6 years
Maan, Midsommar, Raw, Titane, Nope possibly even Hereditary are screwed. They will probably end up being lower than Terrifier 😂

@@Amannus2.0Sure, but most things are. It’s still a practical figure that’s helped by CGI, but a practical figure was there on set
I think that to truly appreciate horror movies, particularly elevated horror; you have to be more open minded, tolerant and less conservative.
You didn’t even say who the directors were at the beginning of the video lol

I thought long legs was boring and not at all
The first terrifier that high is kind of crazy. Bold move Sean
Titane is great. Also look up how to pronounce it. And it really went over your head. Also just because you didnt like something doesnt mean you need to insult people who do. Also maybe question some of your own assumptions
Hereditary is the best horror movie ever made.
Om sry but titane at last come on
Romulus and longlegs are so terrible. So bad. It's hilarious they are even discussed at all. They are absolutely terrible movies
I’m sorry but Hereditary is one of the most boring movies I’ve ever seen. Maybe a hate take but it’s one of the worst horror movies I’ve seen in the past 15-20 years
