Thank you for doing this, Mik! Loved everything you read, no judgement! The one with your mother and the carpet was my FAVE, so raw and vulnerable. Lost my grandmother in 2013, she was my rock so I can relate (virtual hug through the internet). Recently found my old journal I wrote when I was fifteen and - GIRL - the angst, the melodrama, the moody poetry and purple prose! Also, my old creative writing is chockful of info dumps, run-on sentences, dialogue exchanges that goes nowhere, and police sketch character descriptions - I've definitely come a LONG way :)

Ohhhh. Inspired by this, I went to find my old writing. And did I cringe? Yes. And this was immediately replaced by the pride of having grown so much as a writer that I can actually pinpoint what I did wrong at that time. When I wrote those words four and a half years ago, I knew the prose wasn’t good, but I couldn’t pinpoint why. Sometimes, progress shows up as cringe. Thank you for this video!

sometimes i reread my old writing to remind myself how much progress i've made, and sometimes i realize that i wrote better when i was 14 lol 🥲
