Excellent as always! The pulse in this song is great and I love hearing your mix so I can really hear and follow along with all the awesome melodic sections that are in practically all Ghost bass lines.
Absolutely wonderful tone!! I wish I could get my PB to sound like that!!! I was going to ask you for a few pointers but I see you've answered my main questions below. My P is "only" The Mexican Player series and to be honest I've not really been liking the pickup from the start, it seems very thin and watery! So I think it's certainly time to start seriously making a plan to switch it out, possibly with a DiMarzio if I'm using your vids as a reference point.
@@GhoulUisce Thanks man!! I'll take a much closer look at those, I reckon! Very nicely priced too, it must be said! It's up in the higher registers where I'm really hearing what I like the most in your tone, fully rounded and warm but still strong, that's where I get a little disappointed in my factory fitted Alnico. I mean I realise, of course, that there's more contributing to your sound than just the PUP and my Mexican Player series would still be a Mexican Player series even with that DiMarzio on board but even so, for the price I couldn't really go wrong! In hindsight, I probably should have gone full fat American with my P bass but I'd already done that with my G&L Jazz and that's the one I play 80% of the time so I ended up being a bit of a cheapskate on The P...might have been a mistake but improvements can be made where needed so it's all good! I'd need to think about switching the pots too, of course.
@@Vortigan07 My P bass is a Mexican, so don't write yours off just yet. If you go back through my videos and spot any of the P with a white pickup that's the stock one.
Hey man, just curious how you dialed that tone in on your HX. I’m switching from my old sansamp rack rig and pedals to the helix/HX and I love the tone you’ve got here.
Thanks for your question! I'm gonna give you a long answer here, but the HX is only a component in my sound. There's a few other things that I've noticed along the way that play a part too. My strings are rotosound steels, and I like em fresh, but not too fresh. Playing with a pick is a factor too, and I tend to naturally angle it so the tone is a little more scratchy (check my zenith video where I play fingerstyle for the difference). Also, my pickup is a DiMarzio which makes a difference also. For my videos I also do a little post processing in Logic, but I try not to do too much. Specifically regarding the HX the patch for Opus/Infest songs is basically an Ampeg SVT 4 model with comp at either end of the chain. My meliora patch is similar with a bit more drive. Hope that helps!
@@GhoulUisce Much appreciated. I also tend to use fresh steels (DR Hi Beam. Used Rotos for a long time but they just lose their magic after a week or two) and have a couple p type basses when I play Ghost (dimarzio in one and a vintage style in the other) or a Geddy Lee for the Prequelle stuff. I have a sansamp rpm (basically the drive section of the preamp the current ghoul uses) and a Steve Harris fly rig and they’re close but hoping I can add some extra parameters with the helix to get closer to the individual album tones as opposed to an amalgamation. Pinnacle has been a pain in the ass to dial in the extra grit as it’s always too clanky/fizzy or not defined enough
@@StellaJo67 the precision you see in my videos is a 2004 Mexican standard. I bought it used for 350 bucks. If you're budgeting for new, then it's modern equivalent is the player series. They're about 700 bucks new I believe. You won't got wrong there. I'd factor in another 100 for a proper setup from a professional tech, if you don't have the skills yourself.
To use the technical term... This is quite simply the dog's bollicks. Nice one dude!
It's the mutt's nuts! Thank you!
Lol and hahaha....it's a shame that we lost all that wonderful humor across the pond....I should have been born a Brit/Celt.

so good man
Another perfect video! Great tab and really solid tone!
Thank you! My tone is an ever evolving thing! ;)
Nice work!!! 🤘🤘🤘
Good video, you earned a new souor, greetings from Mexico🤘🤘🤘
Gracias!
@Experiment Fantasy cool bro hahaha, saludos
Would you do Life Eternal anytime? I love that song and your tabs have been the only way I have learnt all the ghost songs I have 😅
Yea definitely. It will be done. Probably not next but soon.

Thank you! I went for a dimarzio as one of my other non fender basses came with one, and I love the sound of that. It was either that or an EMG GZR.
@@GhoulUisce Ah yeah, The GZR is legendary!!! Which DiMarzio are we hearing in this video here??

Awesome, now I've got to go out and buy a bass guitar. What tuning is this, never mind found it in the description...lol.
Never been a better time to buy a bass. The quality of entry level instruments has never been better!
@@GhoulUisce I've been looking at some Fenders, any advice on which model might be a better fit to grow with?
