Owning top-spec 2021 model. Same pro/con from my expectations and real-world experience. Very happy also with the recent software updates: The (Summer) trips through germany with the charge planning and auto-charge (on EnBW in my case) almost feel like what you get with a Tesla - only that the Niro can consider other networks too. I could send my Grandmom on that road trip with this setup. On my longest daily 300-200-200km trips, it planned 15-70% charges and averaged to 66kW. Btw, on Supercharger v3 I saw mine and the Tesla App reporting 81kW peak for some minutes.
If I remember correctly the Tesla chargers report what power the charger delivers, excluding the conversion losses and maybe battery management. So this number can be higher then what goes into the battery.
As to the fast charging: Just stop at 70%, that cuts the charge time from 45 to 32 min or so, since the charge speed decreases pretty significantly when you get to about 68% full. Getting a coffee with a snack plus bathroom break will take about 30 min anyway, so you hardly loose time.
Totally agree, good choice! I've had one like yours for three years now, almost 70.000 km, and it's a phantastic car, no problems whatsoever. I'm sure you'll enjoy it!
Before our 2023 Tesla Model Y long Range AWD road tripper (which we replaced a 2023 Ioniq 5 Limited road tripper with warranty issues, 7 months without fast DC charging - very poor dealer experience), we used our current 2020 Kia Soul EV Limited on 3000KM road trips, traveling at about 110 KM hour the stops coincided with eating stops, so never an issue. Now with the Tesla we have to hurry to get some food, the Soul was a lay back highway cruiser great sound system and we still have it approaching 100K KM on the odometer. The bones of the Soul are very much the same except it has a higher trim level than your e-Niro. The only complaint is our 2019 Soul EV had much more comfortable seats, than our top trim 2000 Soul EV, go figure. Do have Merry Christmas, always a great channel!
We have a 2020 HEV version of this. Brilliant car, comfy, reliable and a great long distance cruiser. We have Niro EV on order, 2024 model, can’t wait for that.
Just last week I changed my 2016 Soul for a 2021 eNiro. One factor was the long warranty. It has everything we need, but some like LKA are annoying. Having all-seasons tyres fitted soon, then it will be perfect. Lovely car & we are pleased with our choice.
My short list was 2020 e-niro vs 2019 long range model 3. Others where top small. The price is basically the same. We did test drives in both. Both are good cars but the model 3 drives so much better, It's in another leage. I'm 42 but did not feel old enough for the e-niro, so we went for the 2019 LR and never had a better car. On the other hand, if not for the model 3, the e-niro is a great car. Much better than the other options on your list. Enjoy your ride!
I don't know about insurance groups, but it's not very cheap. I switched to the insurance offered by Tesla because they use the standard tracking system while my old insurance company only accepts after market stuff for theft insurance. The insurance of Tesla was also much cheaper. But again, it's more expensive compared to slower cars like my Renault Zoë (2nd car).
11:19 Hi, thank you for yet another excellent explanatory video. You're one of the very best presenter content creators in this segment. A suggestion though ...it would be great for some/many of us if you might 11:19 flash up kilometer to mile conversion as a quick corner caption each time you mention that data. Just an idea. Keep up the good work and congrats on soon becoming a father. It'll change your life! ...but try not to think about that too much. :)
Did you consider second hand? At least here in the UK you can get absolute bargains on second hand EVs. For example my 2020 Kona is going for about €18000 or so. Some dealer models with no miles on going for €22000 despite basically being new.
Great car. Born would have been a nicer one, though. My Born has great range and you can easily get 200km in winter with that weird 130/h point. The 130/h is weird since that's only late at night an can hardly be done a whole 100 km. 🤷
If you want to see something in particular with this car, say it so in the comments below.

@@ElectricOnWheels the car also reported 81kW 🤷♂️

Excellent presentation. I have a used e-niro on my list when I change up in the next year or so.

How's the insurance on the Model 3? In UK our eNiro is group 27A.

Apologies I've no idea why the time appears twice :/

Had you considered BYD ATTO 3, MG ZS ? Similar size and range, also price I think. Or maybe MEGANE E-TECH?
Yes I did but the Niro has a better efficiency than those cars and a better ride than the ZS EV imo.

This one is second hand, imported from Germany since cars can be less expensive there.
