Ok, I'll admit, this was even worse than my worst public speaking fail.
During a book presentation at school in front of my class, I got uncontrollable giggles. I could not get it back under control, so I giggled my way through the presentation wich was a nightmare. Like, literally tears were coming from my eyes from all the laughing, I could not make a decent sentence without ending up in a completely garbled mess of words and giggles. All my classmates were staring at me, and I felt like I wanted to just dissapear. They graded my an 8 (which is really good) and I didn't understand at all. The teacher then explained that I was graded so high because I continued, I didn't give up. Since then I have no fear at all of public speaking.

When I had to give a project presentation during my physics degree, I was the last person at the end of the 2 days to give my presentation, and one of the things that helped me through it was that I remembered all the bad presentations from some of other students, and I thought that even if I totally screw it up it will only be as bad as the worst presentations.
I didn't give a shit that mine wasn't going to be the best, because there were some students who were totally charismatic extroverts, making jokes and handing out sweets to the professors, and other lads wearing suits, smiling and laughing, and they absolutely loved it.
In the end it turned out fine for me, it was almost like someone else took over my body and I was just sitting there inside my brain, listening to him.

This is honestly how everyone feels before a presentation
In the beginning, sure. But once you reach a certain age / level of experience / position of authority, you genuinely see a meeting as an opportunity to identify and solve problems because those problems cause you more aggravation than anything that might happen in the meeting itself. If you never reach that point in your life, then you're doing something wrong.

I am at that point. I did defeat my demons but it took me decades. And years of experience in running a family business.

Then the small, private software company for which I worked went through FOUR rounds of mergers and acquisitions, in about as many years, and ended up a tiny part of a huge multinational corporation. The meetings became a nightmare, so I quit to take care of my elderly mother.

Damn, sorry to hear that. I will never sell my family business out of my own free will. My friend had to quit her dream job because the company she worked in (gaming industry) ceased to exist and it was merged with soulless international company. They had an amazing work culture and suddenly they were "Studio A" and "Studio B". Workers were notified of massive changes by email, had no idea what's going on, only that everything's shittier.
P.S. hope you are doing OK.
There's one thing we can thank Covie for, no more irl meetings, everything's on the bloody Internet.

@@madil2259 show me the statistics. People seem to equate introvertism as being somehow uncomfortable or awkward in social situations, while in reality it has more to do with how one sees and approaches them. It's more of a spectrum anyways, not so much a binary setting.

As someone with severe social anxiety, that is basically how it is.
You create the worst possible scenario in your mind and freak out about it, but when you actually do it, it's definitely not as bad as you thought.
