Love the idea of being able to pack up and move my home if it's under threat of flood or fire. Then I don't lose my home. This is also a plus to add to the list of reasons for smaller dwellings. Maybe you could have two, if you needed more space.
Love the idea, designs and price! One thing about it being truly mobile, is that once folded, there isn't really any room to store additional pieces of furniture (i.e. sofa, dining table, chairs). May not be a big deal for some (move furniture separately, or sell, and buy new, once you setup in a new location). Almost forgot...hooking up to services? Even though it's mobile, I'm guessing that it's not a 30 or 50 amp plug for electric. Water and sewer? Guess we will have to wait for more details. Definitely a great find Kerry. Thank you! ❤️🌵☀️⛈️🌈☮️🐎
15 MIN!!! HOLY ...It takes me longer than that to get dressed (sometimes). Thanks Kerry , you sure are covering ALL imaginable options for us...and then some.
Evidently by having wheels, the rules are different as far as where these can be put and for how long. I’m glad to see Boxable getting competition. Thanks for sharing your videos so we can see what the industry is doing.
Pod X Go sounds like they are going to make waves in the near future. Their exterior looks the best out of all of the unfolding prefab companies. And the first two floor plans give a sort of one bedroom feel instead of a studio that other unfolding prefab companies go with. Plus it has the option of solar power at what seems to be a reasonable price….at least with the gofundme discount. I’m very impressed. Excellent find Kerry. Yet another kickass video. You’ve hit your stride. 😎
Lol...Dude..PodX is a company on paper..Its someone making about 40 grand + just for taking your order and then ordering off alibaba and having it drop shipped...This is a cleverly disguised commercial pretty much..If this guy bought one they'd knock it down to only make 35,000 for taking his order..lol
Interesting video, thanks Kerry. But I'm leary of companies that use hyperbole to describe features without providing supporting details. If the R value is truly outstanding, I think they would be proud to post the R value. Also considering this is in concept phase, trying to raise money and manufactured in China (did they include shipping costs and tariffs in the pricing?) Sets off warning bells to me. Also, with all the unfolding panels, how do they seal all the touching edges to prevent water leaks and thermal loss? Hmmm
They likely included shipping costs, which have dropped dramatically in the last year, after they skyrocketed at the beginning of the pandemic. It's hard to believe they didn't include the 25% import tariff. But the quality, reliability, fit and finish are unknown. There's also a chance that they won't be able to pull it off, in which case you'd lose money under Indiegogo's policy. Still, for someone with extra cash willing to take a risk and if this is a really good design, maybe it's worth it. It could make an excellent portable (vacation?) home on wheels for a decade or two. Fingers crossed.
You are absolutely right. I find it disturbing that they would take orders for such a big ticket item WITHOUT EVEN A SINGLE PHOTO OF A REAL PRODUCT! As a Chinese manufacturer they are protected from all liabilities -you have no recourse. As for the US company, you can make a claim as an "unsecured creditor". The counterparty risk is too high for this to be considered. If they had a product on hand to be evaluated and US listed financials they might be an option.
Just bought 1 at an auction here in FL. These are perfect for people who have small businesses or need a small office and don't want to pay 1k a month or more for rent. It's pretty cool too, comes with lights, no AC unit or anything like that but I think this is the future instead of paying high rent for office spaces
@@Ballaholic17 Auction? How did a completely new product end up at auction? How much did you pay? I would definitely like to see the real construction and how folds are sealed.
“And a closet to hang up my t-shirt.” That made me laugh. 😂 Interesting concept. The challenge is always the zoning restrictions. Hopefully at some point those will loosen up. Especially as more and more people are completely priced out of buying a brick and mortar home. Thanks for posting! ✌🏻😉✌🏻
"RVIA" is Recreation Vehicle Industry Association. So basically it is a Travel Trailer marketed to be a Tiny House, good luck on those local building codes. In addition to the "R-value" for most Rv's is R5-R7. Park Model RV's have more bang for the buck, so I'm not sold on this concept.
@@KerryTarnow Nice to see that the audience here is now on to the scammers that are imitating you with the fake picture, while totally wasting their time, with everyone ignoring them. So they are not being fed anymore, ...like we have learned we must do with some of the critters at the zoo.....!
I've had limited experience with modulars that included folding components. We had a significant problem where the folding components could not match tightly to the main structure due to changes between heat expansion and cold contraction.
With a bit a tweaking, they could turn the 3rd floorplan into a two-bedroom with some flip out interior walls and another murphy bed. I would do a murphy bunkbed on the same side of the house as the current bed and make the couch another murphy bed. Now you have a family home.
That is a really weird and interesting combination of attributes. I'm surprised at how "inexpensive" they are. The highest quality four season RV trailers currently available are smaller than these PodX Go units and run anywhere from $100k (off road capable bumper pull) to $300k+(ultra luxury 5th wheel). This will be an interesting company to follow. Depending on the finishes, they may be able to outdo Boxabl's offerings. Thanks!
I am another that thinks tiny housing concepts need to be made more mainstream with zoning supporting affordable housing communities rather than hindering them. Perfect for retired singles or even young people just getting started and surely beats people ending up in tents on the streets. I have seen a lot of prebuilt sheds videos that convert them into a tiny house and a lot cheaper overall than what many of these finished tiny homes are selling for.
It's like a camping trailer, but when you get to a destination, it's a full home. It's much more than sliders on an RV. In terms of cost, it sounds competitive, but I'm not tracking the RV market. It would be interesting to see where the living/dining furniture fits when it folds up.
Nice combo between an RV w/ slideouts and a Boxible . I wonder how long it will take before these are scattered around the snowbird areas in the Southern U.S.? Thanks again Kerry!
Neat concept. Don't think the insulation R value (or building codes) would work in Ontario, Canada, though! Even though Ontario, California is named after Ontario, Canada,
As a retiree who can't find a year round place to live, this makes sense. summers up north, winters someplace warmer, saw this video awhile back and haven't gotten it out of my head. might be the answer.
Thank you Kerry, as a fairly new Georgia resident this is huge. You didn't mention whether this builder was a metal frame or another alternative but I'm hoping it's not steel, as the county I currently live and work in doesn't currently allow metal frame. Crazy I know.
wouldnt it be nice if you could just buy land and park a trailer or camper van anytime you want to stay. Unless its way out middle of nowhere its not legal to do in most places. You have to first build a primary residence which meets so many rules and costs probably min $300k these days. Most places will not allow these types of units without a primary residence first with foundation, septic etc. In Cali every new build also requires a solar system and some also require a garage. Cali needs to scale back so many requirements to make it more affordable to build a new home. You may have nice land in a great spot but can’t use it for jack until you build a house.
That's when two folks or families get land ...and each has the own...one with the bigger main home and the other gets to put their little one on it. Friends do that all the time ..i have heard ..and families too. Furniture/owners stuff, water storage, waste storage, and food/Rations? It's a wonderful concept thought I'd definitely buy one, but i need to get that big truck tho! I'd rather have the third option because the bathroom is away from the bed, so no fumes are around you at night. Food for thought. Here's another thing I'd do since Tesla has the electric 4 wheeler, I'd make a jack system to attach it to the back of the prefab home where it will pick it up from the ground then attach it to the backside of the foldable Prefab home. How's that! Then you just have to put a battery bank in the back of the CyberTruck that you can leave at the site of the foldable prefab home when your out and about having fun on the 4 wheeler! :)
US companies must obey strict consumer protection and liability laws. As long as people can be fooled into sending money to China with no recourse this is what you will see.
I've been looking at folding homes here in Australia. So far the best I've seen is (when unfolded) - 8.4m x 7m ($125,540 or about USD$84,000). This unit comes in 2, 3 & 4 bedroom configs. This is in production and they do have many builds made. They are treated as Caravans and follow those rules.
I think the market is gonna grow big time for these, i just bought one and while it's not luxurious by any means, it's awesome, folds up and can be used as a house, office, work area etc instead of paying high rent fees, this could be a future boom product. Not this exact model but the concept in general

It's a supercool idea but, of course, insulation is a concern. I imagine too that, after a while, the home will develop kinks and issues with folding and unfolding. Finally, I'm not yet sold on the materials used. Will the interior look cheap and plasticky or rich and warm?

I think these homes can help with homeless situations , if governments would change laws families could place them on their property they would also be great for elderly parents to have their own space but near family and also the disabled communities who want dependency but still need family help , I really wish the states and cities would allow these it would help a lot of families who want to help but are limited by legalities .
Let me see it fold up in 15 minutes ~ got to see it to believe it ~ otherwise it's just a fantasy. If it ever is actually produced, the biggest issue is the tiny RV bathroom ~ I could never suffer it willingly.

This tells me they are running on the cheap and this is a fly-by night company. even if they are a startup, at a minimum, get your website rockin'! such a shame they start by looking so lame from the jumpstart.
Self-leveling suggests it would have hydraulic rams (likely in those boxes at either end) that lift the main unit to level. I suspect it would then have manual jacks at corners. The lower portion in most illustrations appears to be a skirting. Looks like a nice option for a park model or a portable ADU ( if / when / where allowed :)
Kerry, it looks like there are quite a few companies posting the same exact fold out unit from China with a customization at the front door . I’m starting to wonder if these are all the same units just different companies repackaging them. I love the fold out desk and murphy bed though!! ❤
Hey Kerry have you been able to check out the finished podx s1 yet out in Cali? I’m actually digging this one. Comparing it to Boxabl ish vibes. So far now my personal top 2 with Boxabl stil being my #1.
Theoretically, if the homes are being constructed in China, it'd mean they could ship them anywhere in the world (and meet local housing specifications). It's an interesting concept with potential for massive expansion(oops, did I just pun?)
It is also exactly like many past scams. There is no legal recourse for any money sent to China and to the company in the US you are an "unsecured creditor". Don't just give them money. Offer to put money in US escrow account with binding arbitration.
Yeah I wonder how it will hold up to LB Snow heavy rain seems like when everything falls out and falls back together that would be That would be the vulnerable areas doesn’t seem to be leaking water has it been any concerns of focus in that area
I wonder how many times you can do this a year? Like pick up and move once a month. Or is it built for moving only 3 times a year. I was lookin at purchasing an RV too! Hmm. This is interesting
Don't know about America but in Australia you have to have a licenced building to build & sign off on a dwelling... and even if it unfolds in 15 minutes, a builder will not unfold it and sign off for less than 500k anyway.
A 20ft Steel Container Costs around $2000... 4- Sides/Base/Roof +2 Ends... here we have 8-Sides/Base, Roof + 6Ends.. should cost about $5000... double this for Bathroom , Finish etc.. These with are Costing $30,000plus .. pricing has to drop drastically...
I’ve always thought these tiny house on wheels are just glorified campers. People turn their nose up at the thought of living in a trailer but for some reason THOWs are cool.
Furniture not included? So it's a 15000$ folding container home from china, a few minor modifications and then slapped on a trailer and marked up 4ish times... amazing.... I'm impressed...
I always want to know prices, approximate because I have to place 5 of them on my Arizona property for each child and my wife and me. Price is important because I have only a certain amount to spend so I need to know if they are in my range to do so. No price and I move on!
Normal people: Folding prefab homes reduce expenses, and offer flexibility in case I have to move. Me: Command & Conquer base building is not only finally a thing but also can be my home.
Love the idea of being able to pack up and move my home if it's under threat of flood or fire. Then I don't lose my home. This is also a plus to add to the list of reasons for smaller dwellings. Maybe you could have two, if you needed more space.

I suspect that it's your ISP. I had zero issues loading pages.
Kerry, "you're right, "a cool concept" and a nice design 👍
How does it function with no foundation?
The pricing is friendly 💛
Self-leveling suggests it would have hydraulic rams (likely in those boxes at either end) that lift the main unit to level. I suspect it would then have manual jacks at corners. The lower portion in most illustrations appears to be a skirting. Looks like a nice option for a park model or a portable ADU ( if / when / where allowed :)
@@ThomStanton 👍
Nice video.
Thank you 🙏🏻
Kerry, it looks like there are quite a few companies posting the same exact fold out unit from China with a customization at the front door .
I’m starting to wonder if these are all the same units just different companies repackaging them.
I love the fold out desk and murphy bed though!! ❤
I think you’re right
Hey Kerry have you been able to check out the finished podx s1 yet out in Cali?
This is the solution to the homeless situation but good luck having this actually used to help this issue.
Thanks for watching!
Yeah I wonder how it will hold up to LB Snow heavy rain seems like when everything falls out and falls back together that would be That would be the vulnerable areas doesn’t seem to be leaking water has it been any concerns of focus in that area
Kerry airstream Is a great alternative as well
Airstreams are very cool
…and a closet to hang up my t-shirt. (Singular) 😂
Haha 😂
I wonder how many times you can do this a year? Like pick up and move once a month. Or is it built for moving only 3 times a year. I was lookin at purchasing an RV too! Hmm. This is interesting
Don't know about America but in Australia you have to have a licenced building to build & sign off on a dwelling... and even if it unfolds in 15 minutes, a builder will not unfold it and sign off for less than 500k anyway.
It seems like the corners would leak when it rains. How do they prevent that?
There sealed like your car door
great video/info thanx bro.!!!!
Thanks for watching
Thumbs up!
Thank you! Cheers!
What's the sewer situation? Out in the rural areas? And water?
I want this as a shtfu.
Appreciate the feedback!
I’ve always thought these tiny house on wheels are just glorified campers. People turn their nose up at the thought of living in a trailer but for some reason THOWs are cool.
I think so too
Furniture not included? So it's a 15000$ folding container home from china, a few minor modifications and then slapped on a trailer and marked up 4ish times... amazing.... I'm impressed...
good job dude
Thanks
I always want to know prices, approximate because I have to place 5 of them on my Arizona property for each child and my wife and me. Price is important because I have only a certain amount to spend so I need to know if they are in my range to do so. No price and I move on!
I want one
Thanks for watching
Very cool
Thanks for watching Yumi
So you must have a pickup or van(?) to haul one, and to provide storage when moving for after market furniture, right?
There is so many new green and tiny homes that are unavoidable to your working class people. We are now a tent living country.
kerry are there any companies in the USA making foldable homes?
Where do you put your furniture when you fold up?
Normal people: Folding prefab homes reduce expenses, and offer flexibility in case I have to move.
Me: Command & Conquer base building is not only finally a thing but also can be my home.
Water and sewage is still an issue, but I like.
What kind of toilet; incinerator, compostable or something new?
Love this!❤
Thanks for watching Annie!
What do these things cost sighn sealed and delivered ?
What about utility hookups
What about water and sewer and power
I am not looking for a tiny home but a home utilizing multiple shipping containers
Thanks great video
Glad you enjoyed it
