6. Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti This album is a masterpiece and it’s my favorite Zeppelin album. Custard Pie, The River, In My Time Of Dying, Kashmir, and In The Light are my favorites from this classic.
Day6-Kansas-Song for America. This was the first of two Kansas albums released in 1975. Coming out in February, this is the better of the 2 albums. Very progressive this album, with heavy keyboards and great guitar work by Kerry Livgren and Rich Williams. Song for America and Lamplight Symphony are 2 of the best songs on this album. This is my number 6 pick.
Day 6: "Zuma" was released by Neil Young on the Reprise Records label in Nov. of '75. Collaborating with Crazy Horse again. Young's bluesy compositions like "Danger Bird" and Pardon My Heart" express his inner turmoil over his recent break up with actress Carrie Snodgrass. Bob Dylan famously visited the "Zuma" sessions and even played with the band for a bit. But it was "Cortez the Killer" from this LP release that would become a staple for his and Crazy Horse's live performances.
Todays pick is Straight Shooter by Bad Company. Great album. Probably my fav by them. Along with the debut. This one opens up with the smokin Good lovin gone bad. Wild fire women has great vocals by Paul Rodgers and my fav Bad Co song, the heavy killer tune, Deal with the preacher. The boys never sounded better
6) Eagles - One Of These Nights My favorite Eagles album, One Of These Nights may be a more important turning point in the band's career than any of their other albums, including Hotel California. It was the album that launched them to superstar status, being their first #1 album, was their first to officially feature three guitarists, and spawned a few songs that would define the decade. One Of These Nights pretty effectively bridged the gap between the Eagles first three, mostly Country Rock albums and their last two mostly AOR Guitar Rock with Country leanings style albums. The band definitely showed a tendency towards the more AOR sound they were soon to develop, but the record also contains the Country Rock ballads they were famous for, including the incredible "Lyin' Eyes", the gorgeous "Hollywood Waltz", and the anthemic "Take It To The Limit", featuring a transcendent vocal performance by Randy Meisner. Then there's the witchy title track, and the sad and stark "After The Thrill Is Gone". However, the highlight may be the epic nearly Prog instrumental "Journey Of The Sorcerer", which is mind-blowing. One Of These Nights is one of the best albums of the '70s. Commercially and artistically, the Eagles would never look back. The record remains essential not only to their catalog, but to the decade as well. 1) Gary Wright - The Dream Weaver 2) Emmylou Harris - Elite Hotel 3) Black Oak Arkansas - Ain't Life Grand 4) Bob Seger - Beautiful Loser 5) ZZ Top - Fandango! 6) Eagles - One Of These Nights
A fantastic album indeed! I still love their first three albums the most though with Desperado being number one. Somehow being the 'proper' Eagles but that's just my opinion of course.
Pick #26: Hawkwind's Warrior on the Edge of Time #31: Bad Company's Straight Shooter #30: Steve Hackett's Voyage of the Acolyte #29: Kiss' Alive #28: ZZ Top's Fandango #27: Scorpions' In Trance #26: Hawkwind's Warrior on the Edge of Time
Paul McCartney's band Wings released "Venus and Mars" in 1975 as a follow up to the very popular "Band on The Run". This has many catchy tunes that were featured on the radio.
Day 26: Scorpions- In Trance Day 31: Lynyrd Skynyrd- Nuthin’ Fancy Day 30: The Allman Brothers Band- Win, Lose or Draw Day 29: Styx- Equinox Day 28: Kansas- Song For America Day 27: Kansas- Masque
Todays pick: Be-Bop Deluxe "Futurama" With one of the most criminally underrated guitar players in Bill Nelson, Be-bop Deluxe put out some top notch albums in the 70`s. I`m still blown away by his dazzling playing on songs like "Love With The Madman", "Maid in Heaven", "Sister Seagull", "Music In Dreamland", and "Between The Worlds'. This guy was seriously good.
Styx - Equinox Still my favorite Styx album //Marshall Tucker Band - Searchin' For A //Rainbow //Lynyrd Skynyrd - Nuthin' Fancy //Deep Purple - Come Taste The Band //Steve Hillage - Fish Rising //ZZ Top - Fandango!
Day 6 / Pick #26 = JEFF BECK - Blow by Blow. Some 70's style jazz rock fusion by Beck. Lots of funky beats and Max Middleton keyboard work. Good drumming by Richard Bailey. Jeff delivers some tasty guitar all over this album. Best tracks are: Scatterbrain, Cause We've Ended As Lovers, and Freeway Jam.
I know that your more of a fusion guy than I am Gary. I'm surprised that Blow by Blow came up so early in the series for you. I forget...are you ranking your picks from 31 to your #1 pick?
@@andymudrock322 Hi Andy, yes ranking from least favourite to most favourite. Jeff's album is pretty good, but there are some better guitar-led fusion albums coming up later in the month.
My Day 6 pick is an album released on April 1975 and recorded at Muscle Shoals, Sheffield, Alabama and produced by the singer Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section, and Punch Andrews I'm talking about the eighth studio album by American rock artist Bob Seger, Beautiful Loser. ELO - 'Face the Music' A very enjoyable collection of songs. Two massive hit singles (Evil Woman, Strange Magic). One of my top three instrumentals (Fire on High) with its sinister sounding backmasking ("the music is reversible, but time is not. Turn back! Turn back! Turn back! Turn back!"). Love the power cords in 'Poker'. I guess 'One Summer Dream' was Jeff Lynn's Dad's favorite song of his. I'll go with the old man on this, I like it too.🎻🔊🎶
Foghat, Fool for the City This album Burst them into the American audience with their mega hit, Slow Ride. Blasting out of every car stereo in every parking lot. And the title song is great too. Lonesome Dave Peverett And Rod the bottle Price, jamming with the slide.
Very cool album, Sir Ziggy. Their cover of the Righteous Bros. "My Babe" jams as well. Almost didn't buy this one -- I was a fanatical Foghead with their first 4 albums. Then bassist Tony Stevens split, I pondered whether to continue buying their stuff or not. Glad I did! How much snow did you get Ziggy? It's STILL snowing here...
@@gadgettheratboy9051there aren't too many bass players we care about being in the band, Of course these two guitar jamming is a big part of their gig. about seven inches thus far and it's supposed to snow until 8:00 tonight!!
Excellent pick today Pete! Katy Lied will rank high on my list. Day 6 (#26): Paul Simon - Still Crazy After All These Years 27. Patti Smith - Horses 28. Robin Trower - For Earth Below 29. Herbie Hancock - Man Child; Flood (Live) 30. Rainbow - Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow 31. Bad Company - Straight Shooter
After yesterday's wrong year debacle, I return with an album I know is from 1975: Return To Fantasy - Uriah Heep, I really like this album even though it's not up there with their best
#26 Manfred Mann's Earth Band - Nightingales& Bombers #27 The Wings - Venus + Mars #28 Supertramp - Crisis What Crisis #29 Frank Zappa - One Size Fits All #30 Hawkwind - Warrior On The Edge Of Time #31 Robin Trower - For Earth Below
My favorite albums turning 50 In no particular order Day 6: ELO - Face the Music Face the Music is Electric Light Orchestra’s fifth studio album. This album might be away from the large-scale classical orchestrated sound of the previous album, Eldorado, for a more "radio-friendly" pop/rock songs. However, the string sections are still very prominent. This new sound was very successful for ELO. My favorite songs: “Evil Woman” “Strange Magic” “Fire On High” (Instrumental) “Nightrider” Day 6: ELO - Face the Music “Evil Woman” Day 5: Bob Dylan - Blood on the Tracks “Tangled Up In Blue” Day 4: Jethro Tull - Minstrel in the Gallery “One White Duck / 010 = Nothing at All” Day 3: Nazareth - Hair of the Dog “Miss Misery” Day 2: Angel - Angel “Tower” Day 1: David Bowie - Young Americans “Fame”
My choice today, day 6 is the fifth studio album by UK rockers, FOGHAT, FOOL FOR THE CITY. I believe this is the band's most commercially successful studio album as a platinum +seller. It is also arguably the studio record that comes closest to capturing the energy and ferocity of the group's live performances. It also contains Foghat's signature song, the slow grinding hard rocking Slow Ride. The title track, Save Your Loving (For Me) and Drive Me Home are also great blues tinged boogiesque hard rockers built around pulsating riffs whilst there's a couple of covers, My Babe, which follows a similar hard rocking path and Robert Johnson's Terraplane Blues, with Rod 'The Bottle' Price excelling, as he does throughout the album. Take It Or Leave It closes the album in mellower, richly melodic style. A real studio based highpoint in Foghat's career.
Hey Jerry, yet another album you've managed to pick just before I get to it!!! Their albums don't all click with me fully, but this one definitely does!
@iainhead9898 I agree Iain. I'm not especially partial to the first two or some of the 80s output, where they rather tempered their style, but this one is classic 70s hard rock.
Day 6 Fantastic pick Pete My pick today is Heart “Dreamboat Anne” 1 Seals and Crofts “I’ll Play For You” 2 Bruce Springsteen “Born to Run” 3 America “Hearts” 4 Eagles “One of These Nights” 5 Paul Simon “Still Crazy After All These Years” 6 Heart “Dreamboat Anne”
My pick for today is Welsh band Budgie with their album Bandoiler! One of my favorite underlooked bands from the 70s! Some highlights on this album (no duds at all though) are the heavy rockin opener Breakin the House Rules, the almost soul rock combo of Who Do You Want For Your Love. And the Iron Maiden covered I Cant See My Feelings. Fans of progressive rock should also check out the aptly titled Napoleon Bona Parte 1 & 2. Just a great record
Ian Hunter - Ian Hunter Ian's self titled debut after leaving Mott The Hoople 26. Ian Hunter - Ian Hunter 27. Rory Gallagher - Against The Grain 28. Climax Blues Band - Stamp Album 29. Golden Earring - Switch 30. James Gang - Newborn 31. The Kinks - Schoolboys In Disgrace
Day 6 - “Hair Of The Dog”, Nazareth Day 5 - “Nuthin’ Fancy”, Lynyrd Skynyrd Day 4 - “Red Octopus”, Jefferson Starship Day 3 - “Fleetwood Mac”, S/T Day 2 - “Still Crazy After All These Years”, Paul Simon Day 1 - “Caress Of Steel”, Rush
Day 6: Soft Machine - Bundles Day 5: Steve Hackett - Voyage Of The Acolyte Day 4: King Crimson - USA Day 3: Return To Forever - No Mystery Day 2: Mahavishnu Orchestra - Visions Of The Emerald Beyond Day 1: Rush - Fly By Night
26. Bad Company - Straight Shooter 27. Armageddon - Armageddon 28. Rush - Caress of Steel 29. Styx - Equinox 30. Deep Purple - Come Taste the Band 31. Supertramp - Crisis? What Crisis?
For day 6 I go with Fleetwood Mac - Fleetwood Mac. This was the first appearance of the so-called 'classic line-up' with Mick Fleedwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Lindsay Buckingham and Stevie Nicks. It brings a great outlook on what was to come with Rumours. Songs like 'Rhiannon',' Say You Love Me' and 'Landslide' more than hint on the greatness of this line-up
Today's pick is the Debut album from Outlaws. There goes another Love Song plus Green Grass and High Tides are great. However, my favorite track is Knoxville Girl.
Today's pick is Aerosmith-Toys In The Attic. A tremendous breakthrough album with lots of swagger. "Toys In The Attic", "Walk This Way", "Sweet Emotion", "Adam's Apple" and "No More No More" are my favorite cuts off this legendary album.
Morning/Afternoon/Evening everybody... On to #26 on my list today and we're off to The Emerald Isle, home of many of the finer things in life (Guinness, Caffreys, Bushmills, Writers Tears as well as, possibly, non-alcoholic beverages too...) as well as to some "craic"-ing* music... Before my choice today left us back in 1995 aged just 47, he left behind a cracking legacy, although more would surely have followed. I count myself lucky to have seen him play live, albeit just once, not that long before he passed. He's often called "the greatest guitarist you've never heard of" (although I know lots of us at SoT have!), and once, when Jimi Hendrix was asked what it was like to be the greatest guitarist in the world, his reply was, "I don't know, why don't you ask...?" RORY GALLAGHER "Against The Grain" After starting out in TASTE in the late 60s, Rory went solo in the 70s abd, although he really came to life on stage, he produced some great studio stuff too. On this album, alongside bassist Gerry McAvoy, keyboard player Lou Martin and wonderfully named drummer Rod de'Ath, Rory rips his way through ten tracks, mostly originals, highlights including opener Let Me In, my favourite Souped Up Ford and Rory's version of Out On The Western Plain by Leadbelly. If you've never explored Rory's output, then this is as good a place to start as any... * craic [Pronounced "crack"] = Irish Gaelic for having a good time
Rory was a great guitarist. I don't have this one nor any of his other studio albums, but have a lot of his live stuff. On stage is where Rory really laid it down. Have you got any of his live albums Iain?
I'm going to have to check Rory Gallagher's discography. I know that I don't have an album by him as a solo artist. That name is so familiar that I'll have to check and see if he participated in something that's in my collection.
My pick for today is Patti Smith - Horses. An impressive, exciting, beatnik poetry punkrock collection of tracks that still sound fresh and urgent today, fronted by a female Jim Morrison. Contains bangers like ´Gloria´ ´Free Money´ Break it up´ (featuring the great Tom Verlaine.) and the intense Land: Horses/Land of A Thousand Dances.
#26 AC/DC - TNT How not to put this album on the list? Impossible, it has gems like “It's A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock 'n' Roll)”, “The Jack” and “Live Wire”. Long live Ac/Dc!! Albums That Are 50 Years Old in 2025 #26 AC/DC - TNT #27 Neu! - Neu! 75 #28 Hawkwind - Warrior on the Edge of Time #29 Budgie - Bandolier #30 Steely Dan - Katy Lied #31 Tangerine Dream - Rubycon
In alphabetical order pick #6 Alice Cooper- Welcome To My Nightmare 1. Aerosmith- Toys In The Attic 2. Angel- s/t (Debut) 3. Bad Company- Straight Shooter 4. Black Sabbath- Sabotage 5. Blue Oyster Cult- On Your Feet or On Your Knees (Live) 6. Alice Cooper- Welcome To My Nightmare
My day 6 fifty year album is Soft Machine - Bundles. 1. Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here. Tribute to Syd Barrett. 2. Jethro Tull - Minstrel in the Gallery 3. Camel - The Snow Goose. 4. Area - Crac! 5. Renaissance - Scheherazade and Other Stories 6. Soft Machine - Bundles
Thanks Pete - again 'Katy Lied' is on my list for the month later on. Today, for me, though, it's the second album from Celtic band Clannad, imaginatively named 'Clannad 2'. Haunting, mostly Gaelic vocals from Maire Brennan and others in the band, accompanied by great acoustic guitars, harp and other instruments. Check out 'Coinleach Ghlas an Fhómhair' or 'Dhéanainn Súgradh' if you've never listened to this. 1. Ambrosia - Ambrosia 2. Barclay James Harvest - Time Honoured Ghosts 3. Be-Bop Deluxe - Futurama 4. Camel - The Snow Goose 5. Caravan - Cunning Stunts 6. Clannad - Clannad 2
B.B. King -- "Lucille Talks Back." Oh yes she does and this time she means it! She even goes wah-wah and it works. B.B. produced, arranged, got to use his own road band (with Ron Levy & Jabo Starks), and even wrote / co-wrote half the tracks. Includes Have Faith, Don't Make Me Pay For My Mistakes and Everybody Lies a Little -- "Some people lie about this, that and the other Other people lie about one another, Some people never see their lies as lies They just see the truth -- the truth as disguise..."
The Allman Brothers Brothers Band - Win, Loose or Draw. Their fifth studio album and Dickey Betts writing and playing really shine with "Just Another Love Song" and the fourteen plus minute instrumental "High Falls"
My 26th favorite album of 1975 is Fly By Night - Rush (Feb. 14). Full List: 31) On The Level - Status Quo (Feb. 21) 30) The Hissing Of Summer Lawns - Joni Mitchell (Nov. ?) 29) Hair Of The Dog - Nazareth (April 3) 28) In Trance - Scorpions (Sept 17) 27) Venus And Mars - Wings (May 30) 26) Fly By Night - Rush (Feb. 14)
# 26 Tangerine Dream: Rubycon With “Rubycon” (and its forerunner “Phaedra”), Tangerine Dream, alongside Kraftwerk and Klaus Schulze, laid the foundations for everything that was later called electronic rock music. Their music is as menacing as it is enchanting and has lost none of its fascinating power to this day, at least for me. # 27 10cc: The Original Soundtrack # 28 Joni Mitchell: The Hissing of Summer Lawns # 29 Jeff Beck: Blow by Blow # 30 Ted Nugent: Ted Nugent # 31 Supertramp: Crisis? What Crisis?
War Why Can't We Friends. I remember the TV commercial of the album with the face talking and singing the title track. Would love to see it again after 50 years.
Hi Pete & everyone. Dave here. My pick today is the self-titled debut from AMBROSIA. They're a Californian band with a West Coast meets art rock style. Hints of CSN, 10cc, maybe early Yes (I think Chris North's keyboard playing sounds a bit like Tony Kaye's). Little known in the UK, but spawned the US hit Holdin' On To Yesterday. Other favourites here are Nice, Nice, Very Nice, and the proggy Drink Of Water. Your pick Katy Lied is coincidental that it was featured in the HBO show 'Yacht Rock, a DOCKumentary' that I watched a couple of days ago. Ambrosia's guitarist/singer David Pack took part in this show; strangely (!), Donald Fagan didn't. No comment.
Day 6. Tomorrow Belongs To Me - The Sensational Alex Harvey Band. The NME 's review of this compared Harvey to Frank Zappa. Great, memorable songs played by Alex and his excellent band. Action Strasse is the hard rocking opener and going on to include such SAHB greats as Soul In Chains, Give My Compliments To The Chef, Snake Bite, Shark's Teeth, Ribs And Balls and the 7 minute The Tale Of The Giant Stone Eater. SAHB are a bit of a forgotten name now, but they put out some excellent albums and were a brilliant live act.
#26- Steve Hackett- Voyage of the Acolyte. There is some phenomenal music on Steve Hackett's debut LP. I think what holds me back from saying it's my favorite Hackett album is some of the keyboard/synth playing, which doesn't rival Tony Banks' aesthetic or technical capabilities, and which I found at several points of the album to be cumbersome and a bit of a distraction from enjoying the music. That being said, there is some intense writing and playing here, so very admirable work and an indicator of amazing things to come from Mr Hackett!
#26 Nazareth - Hair of the Dog I hadn’t listened to this all the way through in a long time…if ever…and I was stunned by the quality hard rock on this record. It is a combo of Led Zeppelin and maybe Aerosmith with a lead vocalist in Dan McCafferty who is the ultimate shouter singer in the Bon Scott or Axl Rose mold. The album was produced by the lead guitarist Manny Charlton…and boy does he have the hard rock/heavy metal chops ! The songs are uniformly heavy. Even the massive hit “Love Hurts” is sort of heavier than I remember. How tough is the opening track “Hair of the Dog” with the iconic line “Now you’re messing with, a son of a bitch” repeated over and over. Great song! Other highlights for me are “Miss Misery” with a riff which could play on a Black Sabbath tune. “Changing Times” is a good rocker in the “Black Dog” from the Zeppelin mold. “Beggars Day” written by Nils Lofgren is a Crazy Horse cover; followed by an excellent instrumental in “Rose in the Heather”. The record is closed by the 9:46 epic track “Please Don’t Judas Me” with some excellent guitar soloing. This is a majestic hard rock album that I intend to listen to much more often in the future.
Great pick. I listened to this one for the first time last week. A primer hard rock album IMHO . With the vocals like Bon Scott, I thought of this a bit as precursor AC DC.
@@bengalgangsterThanks Bengal Yes no class chiefs …what do they need two weeks of rest ??? Panthers and Saints showed up to play. My Falcons found out the hard way.
26. Van Der Graaf Generator - Godbluff 27. Chris Squire - Fish Out Of Water 28. Gentle Giant - Free Hand 29. Kraftwerk - Radio-Activity 30. Soft Machine - Bundles 31. UFO - Force It
Day 6. Grateful Dead - Blues for Allah This is one of the more unique records in the Dead catalog. It features a lot of Middle Eastern influences throughout and some use of strange time signatures. It sounds like a mix of the psychedelic band of the early albums and the later works of the band. Some great songs that made it into the band's live sets are here too. 1. Miles Davis - Agharta 2. The Dictators - Go Girl Crazy! 3. Larry Coryell and 11th House - Level One 4. Elf - Trying To Burn The Sun 5. Jim Hall - Concierto 6. Grateful Dead - Blues for Allah
Pick 26 is The Basement Tapes by Bob Dylan and The Band. Favorite Songs are Odds And Sods. Orange Juice Blues. Million Dollar Bash. Yea Heavy And A Bottle Of Bread. Dont Ya Tell Henry. This Wheels On Fire and Tears Of Rage.
Elton John-Captain Fantastic And The Brown Dirt Cowboy. A concept album about the early years of Captain Fantastic(Elton John) and the Brown Dirt Cowboy(Bernie Taupin) up to the release of Your Song. A sequel called The Captain And The Kid(released in 2005) picks up the story. This was produced by Gus Dudgeon. It was recorded at Caribou Ranch in Colorado. It features Elton and his band(guitarist Davey Johnstone, bassist Dee Murray, drummer Nigel Olsen, and percussionist Ray Cooper). Davey, Nigel, and Dee also contribute backing vocals. Dave Hentschel plays some synth on the last two songs, and Gene Page does the orchestral arrangements. The title track is a breezy Pop number with Elton on electic piano. Bitter Fingers is a rocker. That talks about Elton and Bernie working for music publisher Dick James. Tell Me When The Whistle Blows is funky with a clavinet and orchestra. Someone Saved My Life Tonight is about U.K singer Long John Baldry comforting Elton after Elton tired to commit suicide. Baldry is "Sugar Bear". Meat Ticket is another rocker, but it's funky. Better Off Dead calls to mind Queen(both Queen and Elton were managed by John Reid at the time). Writing is more breezy Pop with Elton on piano. We All Fall In Love Sometimes goes right into Curtains for a proggy piece. The former has 'flute' Mellotron by Elton, and the latter has 'choir' Mellotron. Both songs have Elton playing harpsichord.
Good morning (afternoon, evening or night), Pete. Great SoT selection and more on that later. Personal pick today? Time for some southern rock today with the eponymous debut album in July 1975 on the Arista label from Tampa in the home state of Florida, the Outlaws [formerly known as The Four Letter Words]. The band gave a bit of change to southern rock by adding a mix of country and rock elements - particularly the vocal harmonies - to the usual twin lead guitar approach. This album includes two of the best known songs - the album opener of There Goes Another Love Song and the long-playing album closer of Green Grass And High Tides. Though personnel have rotated in and out over the years, the line-up on this debut was Hughie Thomasson on lead guitar & vocals; Billy Jones on lead guitar & vocals; Monte Yoho pm drums; Frank O'Keefe on bass guitar; and Henry Paul on electric and acoustic guitar and vocals. Down here in this section of Florida, this was pretty much the album heard in the summer and fall of that year and the winter into 1976. They played local concerts in the hometown in the spring of '74 [with Butch Trucks of the Allman Brothers sitting in] and in January 1976 with the second concert being free. A highly recommended album for any lover or investigator of southern rock. Thanks, Pete. Looking forward to your next selection.
@@melaniethurber5117 Thanks, Melanie. Off for my daily walk before the rains and extremely cold weather [for Florida] arrive. Hope your week is off to a good start.

Such a great band & album!! These guys were some great musicians!! My #6: Going with the 4th album from one of the biggest selling bands of all time. They were primarily a country-rock band. This album has that, but this album also has some R&B in spots as well. Talking about The Eagles - One Of These Nights
26. Fela Ransome Kuti & Africa 70 - Expensive Shit Between 1971 and 1979, everything Fela Kuti released was great. The fact that Zombie (1977) was the go-to album for critics, until it wasn't and Expensive Shit became the top choice, illustrates how completely arbitrary it is. The king of Afrobeat released six albums in 1975 alone, and all of them are worth hearing -- they're all available on Bandcamp now. Probably the differentiating factor is simply the stories behind the albums. Some are tragic and dramatic, others are somehwat lighter, like this one, where Kuti was arrested on drug possession, but he ate the weed that was on him. He paid another prisoner to swap his poo for his when they tested it for the illicit substance, hence the album title. And yet, had he not succeeded, he may well have died in prison. Such was the chaotic and rebellious life of Fela. Afrobeat, Jazz-Funk | RYM #4 | Acclaimed #56 27. Heart - Dreamboat Annie 28. Good Rats - Ratcity in Blue 29. Angel - Angel 30. Alice Cooper - Welcome To My Nightmare 31. The Sensational Alex Harvey Band - Tomorrow Belongs To Me
Day 6 One Of These Nights, my favorite Eagles album, with classics like one of these nights, lyin eyes, and my personal favorite Eagles song, take it to the limit one more time
My Day 6 (26 on my list): Eagles - One of these Nights. Great pop/country rock/r&b mix. Highlight for me are the title tune; Journey of the Sorcerer; Lyin' Eyes; Take It To The Limit. Great record. I know, like many on my list, it's not the usual SOT fare, but I also love much pop rock. Not ashamed or sorry. lol.

The Hissing of Summer Lawns -Joni Mitchell. Love Katy Lied, yeah Throw Back the Little Ones (nor Rose Darling imo) among their best, but rest of album strong. Back to Joni, The Jungle Line is so different! Before "world" music would get popular, The Jungle Line must have been blowing some minds and confounding most.

6) Eagles - One Of These Nights
My favorite Eagles album, One Of These Nights may be a more important turning point in the band's career than any of their other albums, including Hotel California.

A very enjoyable collection of songs. Two massive hit singles (Evil Woman, Strange Magic). Superb pick, Debbie. Coming up for me too.

He's often called "the greatest guitarist you've never heard of" (although I know lots of us at SoT have!), and once, when Jimi Hendrix was asked what it was like to be the greatest guitarist in the world, his reply was, "I don't know, why don't you ask...?"
RORY GALLAGHER "Against The Grain"
After starting out in TASTE in the late 60s, Rory went solo in the 70s abd, although he really came to life on stage, he produced some great studio stuff too.
@garyh.238 Hi Gary, I have Irish Tour and Stage Struck. I know there are others too, but you can't own everything, right!?

I hadn’t listened to this all the way through in a long time…if ever…and I was stunned by the quality hard rock on this record.
This is a majestic hard rock album that I intend to listen to much more often in the future.
good pick richard , this will be on my list later, i hate the chiefs
Great pick. I listened to this one for the first time last week. A primer hard rock album IMHO . With the vocals like Bon Scott, I thought of this a bit as precursor AC DC.

1. Miles Davis - Agharta

@@mikeryanmikeryan4740 Great pick Mike!
Superb album choice, one for later in the month.
The band
gave a bit of change to southern rock by adding a mix of country and rock elements - particularly the vocal harmonies - to the usual twin lead guitar approach.

Such a great band & album!! These guys were some great musicians!! My #6: Going with the 4th album from one of the biggest selling bands of all time. They were primarily a country-rock band. This album has that, but this album also has some R&B in spots as well. Talking about The Eagles - One Of These Nights
Super album choice, Too Many Hands is a great underrated track. One of my favourite Eagles songs.

Today: The Who - "Who By Numbers"

26. Fela Ransome Kuti & Africa 70 - Expensive Shit
Between 1971 and 1979, everything Fela Kuti released was great.
