Most truck drivers that have gmrs are using gmrslive nodes. If your not in range of a gmrslive linked repeater you need to build or get a node so you can connect to the others in your state and other states. I can drive anywhere in the us and stay connected to the texasgmrs louisiana linked system. Dont miss out on what's going on on gmrs. We have a net every wen and sun join

Thanks for the information. How do I get a node? Is there a website link you can share with me? This sounds interesting.

    Good Morning,
Great video by the way, I'm an amateur radio operator who also has a gmrs license,
I also carry a CB in my vehicle as well,
The nice thing about gmrs is it's a great way as you say to introduce friends and family to radio, the frequencies that it used are assigned channel numbers so you don't have to go searching everywhere, many of many of which are shared with FRS as you mentioned, all of these are a great way to introduce your friends and family to radio, I really enjoy amateur radio but not everybody wants to study and get a license at first, Thanks for the video.

Thanks for commenting. I look at it this way all radios have good and bad points. Use the one that works best for your situation. I like GMRS and CB. I've never been exposed to Ham but I'm betting I would like that too. I use UHF and VHF for work and for public safety so GMRS fits nice into that situation. Plus the antennas are smaller (lol)

You should make that "Does GMRS replace CB Radio" trip again but this time with a CB radio so you can compare the results to what you got using GMRS.👍🏼

Yes, I have access to a few around Troy and Albany. Repeaters make a world of difference.

I've been looking for an alternative to Ham. Thanks to you I'll be checking out GMRS. I just subscribed, too.

Thanks for the comment. I like GMRS and with repeaters it works great. The only down side is finding repeater while traveling because you need permission to use most of them. I have permission to use 4 repeaters from MA to Buffalo that covers most of the trip. The only issue is my radio does not do multiple PL tones per channel so when you are looking to get a radio keep that in mind. But, the Midland I have works great other wise and the one-hander feature is the best.

Next time take both on road trip and put them in scan mode and see what you get.
