    The amount of work you do to create these videos is amazing. Building backing tracks, cutting takes, taking videos, editing the videos and doing all the sound engineering on top of it. Not sure you get enough thanks for your effort, but you deserve it. Thanks for your efforts. Quality videos always. And incredible playing. Would love to see a video of you creating backing tracks, programming your drums , mixing , etc. I know that’s not the model of your channel , but I’d watch it for sure.

      Also have the CaptorX and XLOAD. But I'm currently using the Amp Central and the sound is outstanding. The ease of dialing in the IRs is really helpful. The IR choices are outstanding, but it would be cool if they could be individually EQ'd and persisted within the unit. This would help with amplification balance when switching IRs.

    Dude!!! so glade I have found your channel. I am so appreciative of how you are so fourth coming on all your tricks to recording. Sounds is so amazing~!! You also did the video on the Engl Fireball 25 and the recording was so stellar I bought the amp lol. Be here this week. My next step was to get a reactive load interface. I have had the 2 notes which was ok but I felt like the sounds just would not popping and crisp!! So I thought about the OX because I see so many using them but I am not real sure about the sound. The RedSeven I will give a hard look at. The stereo loop really made me pause for I am a stereo nut when it comes to effects. I also have a 69 Bassman that would be cool to add effects 2. One question if I could ask. Why the tape on the strings at the nut and bridge on your non trem guitars? I noticed and wondered. Thanks for all your videos my man! Stay on target... Redfive

I'm getting the Amp Central myself soon and i love how it sounds with the York impulses. I was wondering if you could maybe point me in the right direction as to what pack(s) to get from them. I'm mainly looking to record high gain tones with an ENGL savage 120 (the original one with silver plate) i do a lot of high gain stuff but also experiment a lot with clean tones, fuzz and other effects. Would appreciate it if you could give some recommendations there. thanks for all the cool videos man, keep it up!

    awesome video! as written before, would be awesome to have a comparison vid between LB2 and RS central amp. I've checked the prices and it's quite high, at least on official Redseven website the price should be 590eur in Europe but unfortunately on KSE (official dealer in Germany) it' costs720eur, way too much in my opinion.. still waiting for the LB2, but I'm using an AMT PE-15 with Peavey 6505MH and it isn't bad at all, actually pretty good and cheap.
    for me the problem with the LB2 is that it doesn't has partial power attenuation (to connect to a speaker and uses 10% of the power i.e) and IR loader.
    this one seems to fix partially the problem but still not clear for me if it's capable to attenuate the total output to a speaker, in other words if it can act as a variable "power soak" .
    Thanks!😀

  • @jorismak
    @jorismak 3 роки тому

    You got me interested at the title. It must take some effort to take you from your Fractal LB-2 :).
    I'm guessing that for the bang-for-the-buck a Two Notes Captor (non-x) is still the most affordable reactive-load, but let's watch the video first :P.
    Personally, I'm heading more away towards (tube) preamps with an AMT TubeCake 3 to play through, and the preamp straight into interface to tweak the tone from there. The tubecake is an 'analog poweramp' simulator in a small 3 watt pedal-format power-amp. Perfect for playing preamps through a real cab while still having a nice feel and resonance/presence controls.
    Once in the audio-interface, the preamps go through an instance of Ignite Amps TPA-1 or (more recently) the poweramp module of Mercuriall's Triaxis VST.

    • @SonicDriveStudio
      @SonicDriveStudio  3 роки тому +1

      If I take the captor X as an example, that's an amazing device with a lot of features in the DSP! If that's what you need, it's hard to beat. However, I will say that the basic reactive load sound and feel of the Amp Central is far superior!

    • @jorismak
      @jorismak 3 роки тому

      @subgreen13 I'm running a Victory V4 preamp pedal, but now into the Amptweaker Depthfinder. That add's my speaker impedance curve - simulation, with a resonance and presence knob. Made by the guy from the 5150 amp, to emulate the speaker-interaction of the 5150 + v30 cab. It works for me :).
      That goes into a flat-as-f*ck solid-state poweramp, but that is still way too loud for home use.
      The AMT TubeCake is low-power enough for home use, while still giving the whole poweramp feel + resonance+presence knobs.
      So at home, the V4 pedal goes into a Tubecake into 1x12 cab. On the rehearsal stage the V4 pedal goes into a DepthFinder into a Palmer Macht 402 into a 2x212.
      As for pure reactive-load, I think the Two Notes Capture non-x is still between 200 and 250 bucks. Not saying the there are 'no better reactive circuits' out there, but they all cost more than the amps I'm interested in, so it feels out of reach to me. I actually started out some time ago with a Weber MiniMass attenuator. That is also 'sort of reactive', as in it has a moving flywheel in it to emulate the speaker moving and causing variable impedance. I think things like the Suhr Reactive load and the RedSeven are better in producing speaker feel, but it at least sounded way better than stock non-reactive loadboxes like the Koch boxes or Jet City attenuator.
      The RedSeven unit has no price listed, but they describe themselves 'boutique amplifiers and devices', so I'm guessing it's going to be expensive as h*ll. UPDATE: They updated their price list, it now lists just under 600,- for the Amp Central. That so bad compared to the other top-of-the-line boxes to be honest. Still, just as expensive as a PRS MT15 or a 6505-MH.

    Is it possible to individually control the volume coming out of Left and Right Channels?
    The idea is to play both channels hard panned but more volume to one side than the other, when it's time to solo have them both at the same volume.
    Ofcourse FOH can do this but it's not always an option.

    Question that you might have already covered...but do you have to send both XLRs L and R to the audio interface from this? I would like to use a balanced output and most load boxes have a single XLR out whereas this has two. I know you were using stereo effects some of the time, but if you wanted to just send a mono signal to the DAW is this possible without using the 1/4" line out?

    This is a fascinating piece of gear. The stereo effects loop is a huge plus.
    I've been using a Fryette Power Station for direct recording. And while it does have an effects loop built in.... it comes after the line out (seriously why tf would any builder do this?!?!). So despite having a very expensive reverb on my board, I'm using Toontrack EZ Mix for recording.
    My amp does have an effects loop, but there's an obvious tone difference when it's active, so I'd rather not use it.
    I suppose the Power Station works for now, but I'm always thinking about upgrading.

    I have been on the waitlist at Fractal for the X-Load for over a year…..a year….I am using a Fryette PS-100 right now…which I love…but I wanted a plain reactive load without the power amp……this one looks promising…do you know if the reactive curve is based on a 4x12 like the Fractal?

      You CAN use it as a reactive load without the power amp!
      Just plug your amps speaker out into the "amp in"...then flip both tone shaping toggles to the up position, then simply take the line out and run into your interface or rack, done! The PS does NOT need to be plugged into a/c for this function to work! I use this feature to get a post power amp line out into my rack! You have the best reactive load already available!

    I guess this can't be used w/ a Peavey 6505 or 5150, due to the wattage exceeding 100? Or if I didn't crank the volume to max, would it be fine?

      It’ll be more than fine. Amps are rated at max wattage , you’ll never turn your 5150 up high enough to hit that: simply for the fact at that point it’ll sound like garbage at that point anyways .

      Different sounds. Reactive is a more modern and "correct" approach, resistive is what EVH (to name one) used for years, so we gave customers the ability to choose what they prefer, or in case they wanted something different. Just a sonic option.

      I think reactive load with IR loader justify slightly higher price to cover development expenses (in case of own solution, rather than IR modules). For example, maybe one of cheapest ones, is st.Rock REACT:IR and it will cost 410 euros.
      Just reactive load itself, without digital part, can be cheaper.
