If you hear the official, you can hear Porter as bass vocal on 1st & last (2nd drop) chorus. You won't hear him in the 2nd one tho. Wondered if that was a mistake. Also, thanks for the info on the vocal chops :) Edit: This ain't the only track he sung on: Sad Machine (obviously), Fresh Static Snow, Get Your Wish (although pure, female-mode only), Something Comforting, and Mirror. So, basically he might be singing in most of his upcoming album, Nurture.
it took some time but this version grew on me and i love it so much more than the official release. both are great but this one feels a little closer to me.

people arguing who's dominant in this track, but years of listening to Madeon and Porter Robinson, I think this demo sounds more like it's part of "Adventure" album by Madeon.
Ngl, I like the vocals and lyrics more than the official version, I think it would be better if the demo and official's lyrics mix together, and remove some parts to make it better, same goes for the vocals

How does the full one feel less like them? it's not like someone else made the changes in the end. Maybe it has more of the aspect you like about their music, but idk how a song can sound 'less' like the people that actually created it.
Maybe read the story of how the release came to be? they *literally* described this as superficial and not real emotion, and that realization made the shelter release we all know.
Always thought it was a neat decision to use trap hi hats. Like it just seems so uncharacteristic for both Porter and Madeon, but it somehow works. The tambourines so so nice on this though no doubt.

“Helpless shelter on an open ground” I like to believe this is from the POV of her father. Maybe he created his own shelter on Earth, and recreated the place they stayed on when she was still with him. But she’s not there anymore.
I feel like "belief alone can't make you better" is the correct lyric because the following is "Let us pretend it doesn't matter". If it was "Her love can make you better" why would you want to pretend it doesn't matter? Her love making you better is a positive thing.
