Being from North Carolina, I know exactly what you mean, every time I hear him sing , I get a lump in my throat and homesick , a more beautiful voice and human being, I'll probably never know
I've always been smitten with James Taylor...wonderful person...great sensitivity...amazing soul...like a friend I'd not yet met in the flesh yet know oh so well in the spirit...this was absolutely beautiful...live long my friend...and thank you.
This brought me to tears, James. As I wrote to my beloved when I sent him a link, the song makes me yearn for an end to the strife and pain and separation in this world and simultaneously gives me hope that it can happen. Thank you for the life-long magic of your music which is the soundtrack of our generation.❤️🙏🏼
Every time I listen to James sing, through out my life, he connects me to something better within myself, some quiet place where the best of me hangs out.
The road's not so lonesome as it used to be. Sissel, my inner dialogue/monologue is fractured to an extent, but I escape into music every day into your "My Mix," yet your songs are all precious & redolent of heart. May God richly bless you today & always.
I was in my late teens when James hit big in the music world. I've followed his music for the last 50 years. I feel I know the man. Hes made me smile hes also made me weep and I am grateful for all the feelings in between. Thank you Mr. Taylor you are loved.
💫FIRST VIEW💫FIRST COMMENT💫REMEMBRANCE and GRATITUDE🕊 #JT🕊 Thank you for this inspirational performance. Lovely🌹 Today🕊9-11, my dad, Henry, is now six years in heaven. My dad would tell us🎶"Carry on🎶 and don't let your life miss a beat"
It doesn’t get any better than this - such a beautiful performance by James et al. I saw Kim singing in the chorus. I cannot sufficiently express my love and gratitude for James. At 12 years old and my first listen, I felt a soul connection with James then and 65 years later, I still feel it. He is my absolute favorite singer/songwriter/ guitarist and storyteller. Talent, kindness and authenticity show through with every song and concert. I have seen James 62 times. Going to see him again in May at the Hollywood Bowl - cannot wait ❤️
Really stirring but then I'm an addicted James Taylor fan from way back when (in the 80s when someone introduced me to his talent). The backing singers and whole performance absolutely TOP NOTCH. Thanks from an appreciative fan in Greater London 😊.
Seeing James Taylor at Tanglewood with his fantastic band and his Family a part of the show also.for so many years ,has been a beautiful soul enriching part of our lives. My wife and I even recognize the front of stage security guard in this video. He has been there for many years.
at the end of every show choir season, after the final competition when we get back home we sing this. and no matter how much I will be crying or how dead my voice will be I will always sing this with the love of my choir department in my heart
Simply beautiful. Apart from his great voice, James is a fine person. Thank you, James. You are to millions a national and international treasure. This man thinks of others and is involved in so many good causes.
What a coincidence! I awoke today thinking of a line from a James Taylor song: “Never mind feeling sorry for yourself.” Lo and behold, Mr. Taylor's Facebook page shares a version of that song LONESOME ROAD that I never heard before today! From 11 years ago - an 'a capella' performance “with the Tanglewood Festival Choir ” - the sheer beauty of unaccompanied human voices (well-trained, 23 in all, including James' wife Kim) with the best-engineered (most mics) “live” version we could ever hope to hear. Surely the most hymn-like of James Taylor's compositions, (co-authored by pianist Don Grolnick) it reminds some of us of a key moment in a '12-step program' - before acceptance of what's holding you back, spiritually. “Never mind feeling sorry for yourself, it doesn't save you from . . . ” Deepest thanks for sharing this one Mr. Taylor. Celebrated this day elsewhere [search] " Great Melody, Great Lyric, Great Rendition, Songwriting Workshop, Harmony Central "
Really beautiful version with the choral accompaniment - you can see from the orchestra and audience reaction how special and moving a cappella chorus can be with such a pure and beautifully crafted song such as this. I'm sure Don Grolnick (RIP) would have loved this version. Its written almost as a hymn and its wonderful when JT decides to add chorus to his songs - many of them so suited to it. Thanks for a very moving performance.
Like so many who have already commented.... I sat here listening and watching this video with tears streaming. It is my wish that my 3 very talented young grandsons learn this arrangement for me.....How wonderful that would be. James, stay well and safe.... I want to see you perform LIVE again, once this pandemic is behind us!
Walk down that lonesome road All by yourself Don't turn your head Back over your shoulder And only stop to rest yourself When the silver moon Is shining high above the trees If I had stopped to listen once or twice If I had closed my mouth and opened my eyes If I had cooled my head and warmed my heart I'd not be on this road tonight Carry on Never mind feeling sorry for yourself It doesn't save you from your troubled mind Walk down that lonesome road All by yourself Don't turn your head Back over your shoulder And only stop to rest yourself When the silver moon Is shining high above the trees
Beautiful! Thank you. ❤️. James, if you by chance ever see this, I have a request. It’s hard to ask for anything- but I’m so worried about my son. He’s 25. He is a wonderful songwriter, guitarist who has bipolar, and depression. His dad went into a home this year for early dementia. He hasn’t seen him due to the pandemic. He lives for his music. Your music means a lot to him (and me too). I am only asking for you to hear one of his songs. He is struggling also because he can’t go anywhere to play his music. I know it’s a lot to ask, but I’m a mom who loves her son and wants to help brighten his life just a bit. I understand if you’re busy. I thank you for your incredible music over the years. It has literally been part of the soundtrack of my life. ☮️❤️

James is a fine guitarist, but I also love it when he puts the guitar down and just sings his heart out.
It was an honor to play viola for this show. What a treasured memory. Thank you JT

Mahalo for the #captions to the lyrics, JT!
So sorry JT not to share condolences on David Lasley's passing - may he rest in peace.
Thanks, James, for this wonderful song. It's long been a favorite of mine. I would give a lot to sing in that chorus with you.
❤️
❤️❤️
The Andy Griffith Show also has a version of voice and guitar of this song too.
Walk down that lonesome road
All by yourself
Don't turn your head
Back over your shoulder
And only stop to rest yourself
When the silver moon
Is shining high above the trees
If I had stopped to listen once or twice
If I had closed my mouth and opened my eyes
If I had cooled my head and warmed my heart
I'd not be on this road tonight
Carry on
Never mind feeling sorry for yourself
It doesn't save you from your troubled mind
Walk down that lonesome road
All by yourself
Don't turn your head
Back over your shoulder
And only stop to rest yourself
When the silver moon
Is shining high above the trees

in these times, this song almost sounds unsettling .
James is touring soon? I wonder if he’s still going to have his fantastic background singers in his concerts? Anyone know?
James will be touring next year, with backing singers and his full band.
I have tickets for the May show this year. Is there going to be a new date soon?
New dates were announced a few weeks ago, and you can see them all on the website: tour.jamestaylor.com/

It is!
Catch the Dixie Chick's acapella version. It's beautiful..
This is the song he sang at John Belushi's funeral.
Was this a recent event ? Without masks, social distancing ? Or is it from the past ??
This is from a few years ago.
