He employed vibrating trills and unexpected bell-like harmonics, glissandos that travelled the length of his entire fretboard, parts that echoed or reinforced lead riffs and vocal lines, and even chords strummed across two or more strings that created an all-enveloping wash of low- frequency resonance. 1:03 plays first note cranked to 10 louder than a freight train. Everyone scurries to the back to cover their ears. Lemmy standing point blank next to the speakers un-phased. Absolute rock n roll legend
“Right so here’s my amp. I like to play it loud. Look see here, I had them make it go up to eleven, you see? Right, I like to have that extra umff, ya know? Just a little extra push when you need it.” I swear, “This is Spinal Tap” nailed the douchiness of rock and roll with exquisite precision.
I remember that at least one of the Motorhead concerts that I went to, Lemmy was playing a Marshall amp with the plastic "Marshall" logo hacked about and rearranged to say "No Morals". Thinking about it he must have used more than one logo. Good times...
Lemmy was a Legand of Legands!!!! He basically created an entire genre of music just to piss everyone off. You will never be forgotten Lemmy, Keep on riding and partying!!!!!
Having watched the head for decades never realised Lemmys bass was " the sound" if that makes sense. He makes it sound like a rhythm guitar yet its a bass! No wonder a 3 piece set up was good enough despite their 4 piece era remaining my favorite on stage.
A guy known only to me as " Hank", ( hence the sounds he made when describing heavy guitar chords), turned me on to Motorhead in 1980. Between the albums blasting thru our p.a., and the influence they had on our band, my lease was terminated! Lemmy was great!
From a 1996 interview: On the topic of authors and books, Lemmy's favourites include Michael Moorcock, Philip K. Dick ("he's great!"), J. G. Ballard, and Len Deighton. He has a soft spot for Len Deighton's two Bernard Sampson trilogies (Berlin Game, Mexico Set, London Match, continued with Spy Hook, Spy Line, and Spy Sinker), which Lemmy thinks is an amazing piece of work" since they all "fit together as one." Lemmy also reads a lot of documentaries concerning the topic of war, particularly World War I and II. Why about war? "Because it's the most popular pastime in the world. Everybody seems to be doing it. I like the big ones because it shows man at his worst."
He was a Rock n Roll legend. And one of the proof was that he didn't became deaf ! ( He didnt us ears protector!!! i think he never did!!!! ) even making the loudest Rock n Roll shows ever!!!!
The last time I saw Motörhead was in Nürnberg Germany in about 2010... I got this amazing blurred picture of Lemmy with Murder One in the background. I will never forget how loud these concerts were, not until the day I die.
I had the great pleasure as a 17 year old lad watching Lemmy do a sound check before a Gig. I was the only person there watching him. I couldn’t understand why no one else was there!
You see, this one goes to 11.5. That's literally .5 louder than the loudest possible. Technically, there's nowhere left to go up from 11.5 that I can even imagine, unless maybe you add a second volume knob that goes up to 11.5 again. That's 2-11.5's, which could be louder than only 1-11.5, but we don't know, because that's too many numbers we're dealing with at that point, and we're talking about loudness and not numbers anyway, you see. I can't very well yell at you with a 7, because what would it even mean, mate? I think then that the loudest Amp would probably have a volume knob with no numbers. See, that way it can't be limited by numbers. We would just know its loudest because no one could put numbers on it and make it less loudest.
@@bassheadzero Even if his skills weren't that of a master, he was still always underrated because of people (like you) seeing him as nothing but a lead guitarist, playing the same thing over and over.

All these extras are on the "Lemmy"-Bluray btw.
Lemmy is such a legend. RIP. Keep the Jack flowing in the clouds!!!
This quote is wrong as shit but your point is exactly right
@@Meltedcheese567 lol- I paraphrased a bit 😎
It's one louder, isn't it?
Totally unique as a musician and as a man, a life well lived and to the full! RIP sir.
Legends never die. God blees you, Lemmy 🙏😇🤟
Everything you need to know about rock and roll. Miss you Lemmy.
Ah, so that's why that Metallica's song is called Murder One😁
I remember that at least one of the Motorhead concerts that I went to, Lemmy was playing a Marshall amp with the plastic "Marshall" logo hacked about and rearranged to say "No Morals". Thinking about it he must have used more than one logo. Good times...
Anyone know what he’s playing at 1:18 ? Sounds so damn catchy. Fucking legend.
Did you find out?
Back from the dead to test out bass amps. Champion!
Lemme the only one that can make a bass sounds like every other guitar except a bass mostly
A true legend. Gone, but not forgotten. Long live the King!
Lemmy was and is the epitome of the badass bass player that you wouldn’t want to mess with. Cool as fuck!
Wouldn't want to mess in what way exactly?
Lemmy was a Legand of Legands!!!! He basically created an entire genre of music just to piss everyone off. You will never be forgotten Lemmy, Keep on riding and partying!!!!!
Drive the neighbors up the wall..that's what it's all about! LONG LIVE ROCK N ROLL!
Lemmy was indeed a character. Rest in peace sir.
Lemmy godfather of thrash metal R.I.P. lemmy you are missing and loved forever rest easy brother 🤘🤟🤘🤟😎❤️✌️
Lemmy: The persona and sound of pure rock and roll.
1:54 When Lemmy tells you «you did good», you really don't need any other validation.
Having watched the head for decades never realised Lemmys bass was " the sound" if that makes sense. He makes it sound like a rhythm guitar yet its a bass! No wonder a 3 piece set up was good enough despite their 4 piece era remaining my favorite on stage.
When I die I want to go quietly in my sleep like my grandpa did. Not kicking and screaming like the passengers in his car.
Lemmy’s appearance is pure charisma
Haha I just remembered I had some guy mention that I reminded him of Lemmy for some strange reason.
I’ve never had such respect in my life!!
A guy known only to me as " Hank", ( hence the sounds he made when describing heavy guitar chords), turned me on to Motorhead in 1980. Between the albums blasting thru our p.a., and the influence they had on our band, my lease was terminated! Lemmy was great!
Not Hank. Gank!
I would like to know what books he was reading. Totally respect to Lenny as a class act as always .
I like the big ones because it shows man at his worst."
does it go up to 11?
Lemmy was the most Bad Ass Bass Player there Was, We Miss you Brother, You will never be Forgotten, Cousin Figel
Not into Motorhead (but loved their version of God Save the Queen) but it was a joy to see Lemmy testing this monster of a stack.
great job!!sounds like crap!! exactly like the original!!
We are motorhead and we play rock and roll!
Legend will live forever!
The man, the meth, the legend
Man he played bass like a guitar and made it speak ungodly amounts of music.
That's where I'd test that. In a fucking cleaning closet.
Легенда никогда не умирает!!!
He was a Rock n Roll legend. And one of the proof was that he didn't became deaf ! ( He didnt us ears protector!!! i think he never did!!!! ) even making the loudest Rock n Roll shows ever!!!!
The Sheriff and The Marshall 🤘
Who can stand behind the big rig...Only Lemme...
Superb 🤘🤘 “ I’ve put my hearts & soul into this”... oh! Where abouts ? lol... absolute legend he was, R.I.P.
Damn, the world lost a one of kind when Lemmy died.... RIP Lemmy. I hope you, SRV, Jimmy are jamming for the big guy upstairs.....
Never missed someone I never knew so much.
Aint that the truth...
I'm getting old, it's hard watching your younger heroes die
Wow! Very nice! Do you rave mor extras Lemyy movie?
Yeah I've ripped all the blu ray extras and will be uploading them soon 👌
@@musicandstuff6354 🤩
The last time I saw Motörhead was in Nürnberg Germany in about 2010... I got this amazing blurred picture of Lemmy with Murder One in the background. I will never forget how loud these concerts were, not until the day I die.
One hell of a bassist. He's bad ass. RIP Lemmy. Thanks for the music. Motor head rocks
Cranking everything up to 11 doesn't make you one hell of a bassist
Having your own slot machine, actually a pretty smart way to deal with gambling addiction.
yup, just as smart as cooking your own meth I guess...
I had the great pleasure as a 17 year old lad watching Lemmy do a sound check before a Gig. I was the only person there watching him. I couldn’t understand why no one else was there!
Because it was so fucking loud?!!!🤣🤣🤣
@@stephaneherringtoniowritin4986. Indeed it was! 🤣
@@ryszmansoundvision6572
Lol😅😅🤟
@@stephaneherringtoniowritin4986 I’d never seen or heard anything like it. Someone playing chords on a bass guitar!

Easily the loudest band I ever saw. My ears rang for a week after the gig!
Stone Deaf Forever!!!😊🤘

“I’ve put my heart and soul into these so you have to look after them”
“Where about?”
LMFAO 🤣
He comes walking down the ramp and I immediately think, I miss Lemmy. RIP
Hahahah grabs the bag and the keys and tells us to fuck off.
The Rick 4000 series is such a beautiful looking bass.
El mejor !
Lemmy's bass playing abilities were really underrated.
Nah.. just a normal lead guitar player with a bass and drive pedal in hands.
@@bassheadzero Even if his skills weren't that of a master, he was still always underrated because of people (like you)
seeing him as nothing but a lead guitarist, playing the same thing over and over.
no they weren't. Have you ever played the bass or guitar? You can play easily whatever he plays after just one year
@@Skelterbane69 15 years of bass playing here, Cheers.
I love motorhead, but not for the bass skills.
It's just pushing buttons on the fretboard, brah.
Saw Lemmy at the Temple Theater in Tacoma. Met Lemmy. "There's a bar over there."
He bought many drinks. And kept drinking over for many drinks men and women.
Lemmy showed a bartender for 500 dollars, and "keep drinking !" ;-)
