Attacking forces often suffer more casualties than defending forces due to several key factors: 1. Exposure and Vulnerability: Attackers are typically more exposed as they advance toward the defender's position. They have to move through open ground, often without full cover, making them vulnerable to defensive fire from entrenched or fortified positions. 2. Defensive Advantage: Defenders usually have the advantage of choosing their terrain, preparing defenses like trenches, bunkers, or fortifications, and positioning themselves in locations with clear fields of fire. This makes it easier for them to inflict damage on advancing attackers while staying relatively protected. 3. Preparedness and Coordination: Defenders have more time to plan and prepare, laying mines, obstacles, and traps, while attackers must coordinate movements across potentially hostile or unfamiliar terrain, leaving them more prone to logistical breakdowns or communication failures. 4. Surprise and Ambush Potential: While attackers sometimes have the advantage of surprise, defenders can also exploit this by laying ambushes or counterattacks from concealed positions, further increasing the attackers' casualties. 5. Morale and Psychological Factors: Defenders are often fighting to protect familiar ground, which can enhance morale. Attackers may face greater psychological stress, dealing with uncertainty and the hazards of assaulting fortified positions. 6. Support from Terrain: Defensive positions often use the natural or urban terrain to their advantage, such as high ground, choke points, or dense cover, which can magnify their effectiveness while making it difficult for attackers to maneuver or gain fire superiority.

I have just one question: what are your sources on 600k russian casualties? There is a report from Mediazona, which is part of BBC News Russian, that on 27 of September reported 70k KIA on russian side since the beginning of this conflict. I am not even trying to discuss ukranian 31k casualties, because it's just a very bad joke on ukranians themselves, considering that they claimed to have 1 million army in 2022, and by the end of 2023 Zaluzhny, former head of AFU , stated that Ukraine needs to mobilize another 500k just to keep fighting.
The opposite. World goes to nuclear war for these guys to have Russian Starbucks insteand of Ukrainians Starbucks. Apparently, many people believe that Putin's war makes perfect sense...
I absolutely disagree, Ukraine might have a hard time on the battlefield but the Russian war machine is having even a harder time to get material to the front lines including people. On top of that the Russian economy is crumbling the Ruble is crumbling. Russia cannot sustain that war for more than a year in my opinion. The Russian economy is in a dire state and that is often not emphasized enough. The crux for Ukraine is, it needs the support of the west and if the west is doing everything it can it will bleed out Russias efforts. Remember, Russia is a huge gas station, plus they have resources and usually they have weapons production for the international market which is not available at this time. That means the revenue of Russia is absolutely lopsided and extremely prone To collapse, at least in parts. The permanent mobilization and the attacks on Russia itself is changing the public opinion within Russia. Russia is in dire shape.
Sir, have you been living under a rock or something since 2022 after Ukraine's successful Kharkiv offensive? News flash: THE RUSSIANS ARE WINNING!! Their economy in dire strait....really?? The Russian economy is now the 5th largest with it's currency judged to be the BEST PERFORMING as at 2023. Logistics and manpower issues: You're refering to same Russia that now has both numerical and technical superiority over the AFU? Same Russians that now has a trained reserve of over SIX HUNDRED THOUSAND TRAINED TROOPS waiting to be deployed?? Btw on the logistics line, the Russians just completed a rail across the land bridge from Belgorod down to Crimea early this. That means the Russians can easily move troops and heavy equipment along the territory liberated. Does that look like a military in dire straits to you?

Long ago I called a gun a weapon of mass destruction well yeah
Anyone who gets their information from DW will never want for moonshine.
Ukraine has to give citizens and their homes because Russia has been 10 km from 1 town for several months and might capture it, while Ukraine has taken 1200 km2 of Russia. Why don't you just put Putin on your interview, DW,
Manpower available- Germany ran into this problem at the end of WW2. They started using teenage boys in the army
Stay away from drugs
Through this inquiry western media dicided yukrain winning the war 😂😂😂
Please DW, ne serious about the number of casualty. I could understand that you are pro Ukraine, but please dont bé ridiculous
Focus on the movie not the war
World goes to nuclear war for these guys to have Ukrainian Starbucks instead of Russian Starbucks. Makes sense.
Excellent point! 😂
The opposite. World goes to nuclear war for these guys to have Russian Starbucks insteand of Ukrainians Starbucks.
Apparently, many people believe that Putin's war makes perfect sense...
No judgment I guess because I don't understand the frustration going on since I'm in texas
If you want to know who's telling the truth, look to the one who gives you bad news.
Instead of Lursk Ukraine should have taken Crimea back.
One of the worst reports I’ve ever seen
You will look like a fool when the war ends trust me bro
Russia is and has always been weaker than outward appearance
@@dado3468 Well Dado that say it takes one to know one - be careful of your unfounded predictions my friend. If you value our respect.
@@ebiekem The figures speak volumes and they don’t look good for Russia.
I cheer for one team you cheer for the other… I’m open to bets👍👎
Russia sitting with a bigger army than it began with.
The numbers where explained correctly, even though the visual presentation was misleading.
This is a massive lie I know and understand you don’t like Russia but stop acting like Russia loss is greater then Ukraine the real fact and reality is that Russia is winning this war by far
Is this still going on?
DW news is so clapped 610k vs 31k
May British ministry reported error data, review it very carefully
DW is sounding Ukraine wins the war. But I think NATO is severely defeated as a whole. It's suffering from financial drains, war triggered inflation, recession and ammunition depletion.
Russia inflation rate : 9%
Average NATO countries : 2-2.5%
Cope better 😂
I suspect that the armchair general will be pleasantly surprised with what UA can do over winter.
Poor people in long run we all feel the same. I use translation as maybe miss understanding
