"That we would have the type of assurance that is confident, but not proud, not conceited."
    Yes, yes, and yes again.
This can be such a pitfall for assurance and freedom. Arrogance and pride over being owned by Christ. So very tempting. So very damaging to oneself, let alone others.

What a great sermon! I really needed to hear this, and I’m going to have a doubting friend listen as well. Those of us raised in legalism struggle constantly with assurance of our salvation. This cleared so much up for me. THANK YOU!!

God's timing is impeccable. Just last night at Bible fellowship we were discussing this very issue and Hebrews 10:26-27 was addressed in a manner similar to that of your presentation. Thank you very much. Maranatha!

So encouraging 😊 It has helped me to remember that salvation is a GIFT 🎁 completely apart from merit. “…If you knew the GIFT of God you would have asked him…” John 4:10, see also Eph 2:8-9, Romans 3: 21-28, Rom 4:5, Titus 3:7, Rev 22:17 etc. AND SANCTIFICATION IS ALSO A GIFT, it’s not by works. A living soul is a hungry soul that desires to feed on Christ and his word. By our feeding we grow supernaturally: “But we ALL…beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as BY the SPIRIT OF THE LORD. 2 Cor. 3:18, also 1Peter 2:2, John 6:57, 63, 1Thess 2:13, John 3:21, 1 Tim 4:6 etc

If you know who Jesus is you know whether you're saved or not. If you lack assurance, it is either lacking clear understanding of Jesus or little faith. We all lack assurance at times and places.

I love brother Wilson's night club illustration, but as a Baptist, I would argue we do both.

Or like Tim Keller says: 'Dare to doubt your doubts!'

Whoa there. This Spirit as a gardener metaphor would cast Gal 5:22 in pretty clear light. @37:44

Interesting reading of Hebrews 10:26. Any advice on finding a commentator who fleshes this out in writing?

Hebrews does make plain the fact that apostasy is a threat for all Christians who reject grace …

At 15:55 the speaker says "works justify our faith" - but James doesn't say that "works justify our faith", but that works justify the man.
James 2:24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
    (Note the "how"!)
