I always feel so understood when I come to the comment sections of Soul Train videos. As a young person in today’s world, people my age like to dismiss my admiration and appreciation of the 60’s and 70’s, saying I’m an old-head or that I’m living backwards. “Oh, never heard of them! Well, do you listen to any * insert trash present-day musician here? * I hate it! :( And, not to make this about me, but funnily enough, I always get compliments on my personality and my outfits, and I 100% credit it to my inspiration drawing from the pure class and charm of these past decades! I wish young people today would understand that it’s not about new and old. It’s about timelessness and purpose. Look at these people, the way they dress, the way they style their hair, the way they move... listen to their music!!! Everything was tasteful, classy, and *made to last.* Everything is so come and go these days. And no one knows how to and doesn’t even want to dance anymore! I’d rather be listening to 70’s songs that have stood the test of time rather than all the disposable garbage that gets played on the radio today. I’d rather dress sharp and with class, have my clothes fit me properly than throw my money away on expensive logo mania or oversized sweatsuits or wear skimpy lingerie and leggings to the club... I’d rather wear minimal makeup than have thick drawn on eyebrows and caterpillar eyelash extensions! God those eyelash extensions are terrible!!! And gosh, those men all look so handsome, so sharp and so confident. I love the way they dance and move. Guys these days... don’t even get me started. One thing is for sure, if you’re lucky enough to know of the value of these decades, you should know you’re on the right side of mankind; the excellence that made those decades really are undeniable forces of good. I don’t value this stuff to “be different” than the typical youth of today... I just want to experience things that have purpose and quality... I crave the experience of excellent work, that’s all! Excellent shows. Also, when we went out, we had the choice of "record spin" dance clubs and clubs that had live bands. What a marvelous era. Full of romance and excitement.
I love the 70s and I wasn't even born in the 70s. I was born in 1982 but the 70s is one of my favorite decades. I just love the music from then, the style, the TV shows, movies, and the way they all danced

I had fun dancing back then and still do. That song is one of the ones on my phone's SD Card. That's the kind of music I listen to when I'm working around the house or going walking. When I was an over-the-road driver that's what I listened to. In some parts of the country it'd be hard pressed to find that music on the radio.

So true. Back then when young men and women were attracted to each other they "went" together. There was commitment and respect.
I promise the fashions were EVERYTHING❤❤...I still get my fashion inspiration from old Soul Train shows...
Love it.
They dance so effortlessly.
Hello Marina, How are you doing?
Damn I really miss soul train this is what people need today
The brothers are definitely doing their part
Gorgeous people, great dance moves, charming outfits...
Nothing beats watching Soul Train
You’re too right!
Cure for depression… used to make my grandma watch this… I think she liked it
@@sixty7ford that was a wonderful thing for you to do
Love it. It’s beautiful miss those day’s. Everything was normal and beautiful. Just simple.People knew how to dance. No disgusting nudity or nasty words to the music no fake plastic people just naturally beautiful people.
Wow! Decked out and looking sharp! 👍🏻😊. And fros!
Wow, we were so skinny back then. I actually remember watching this on TV..
I miss Soul Train!!! Watched it all the time as a kid!!
I loved this show as a kid, lol! I still love me some classic R&B! But my daughter won’t let me dance and sing along when I hear it at the grocery store, lol!
The women's dressing is on point. You can wear most if not all the outfits that they are wearing now. They did not come to play.
I always loved me some Stevie wonder. He's one of a kind no doubt.
Love this, i used to watch this every week on tv, im still dancing like this now, im 63
Looked forward to it every Saturday afternoon!
Good on you !
Loved them days, those styles, that dancing.
I watched this and Midnight Special every Saturday night for years...... SO GOOD!
Excellent shows. Also, when we went out, we had the choice of "record spin" dance clubs and clubs that had live bands. What a marvelous era. Full of romance and excitement.
This was an era of victory, love, unity, freedom & soul....now we’re in the era of the internet, fast food & rap! The difference is astounding!
I really WISH those days could come back - once more. 😢
Class, pure class. Badass dance moves..early years the best..70's..just awesome.
I love the 70s and I wasn't even born in the 70s. I was born in 1982 but the 70s is one of my favorite decades. I just love the music from then, the style, the TV shows, movies, and the way they all danced
You are right with my daughter....but she dance tho.....she got it from her mama 🤣🤣
🙋🏾♀️
Those were the days!!
beautiful people
How thin and fit we were! And probably not a gym membership in the bunch. I have to say were happier too.
Idk about these dancers but I didn't know anyone who went to a gym
The only gyms around were in schools & downtown L.A. where local boxers trained 😂
Nobody but Black man can move this smooth!!
Old white guy here...is it just my imagination or a) is the music vastly better than today; b) are people better dressed and better looking; and c) do people look like they are actually having fun?
You know, it's an effort to dress up and to get some dance moves down, but it might be worth it.
I had fun dancing back then and still do. That song is one of the ones on my phone's SD Card. That's the kind of music I listen to when I'm working around the house or going walking. When I was an over-the-road driver that's what I listened to. In some parts of the country it'd be hard pressed to find that music on the radio.
No, not your imagination, just a confirmation of reality and a sad indictment of the times we live in.
Saturday Night Fever white suit. Dressing up was an art. I was born 15 yrs to late, 52 now, missed all the fun lol. But the 70s were a blast to be a kid.
Agreed...
Y'all know you remember waking up early Saturday to catch the show with them 3 channels Lol...Man do I wish those days would come back!
Such elegance...
This is like dancing while doing aerobics no wonder they all look so fit
wow were we really that skinny back then????
+ hifijohn We didn't have the internet and most of us had fans instead of air conditioners. Plus we were outside more and we did more walking from point A to point B.
+hifijohn everyone was skinny in their 20's and still should be. People didn't start putting on weight till they hit their 40's and metabolism slowed.
+hifijohn yeah we didn't eat fast food for breakfast lunch and dinner and the cows were not being shot up with bovine growth hormones
Cocaine.
I graduated high school in 1974 and I weighed 122 pounds soaking wet carrying two bricks and I'm 5 feet 7 inches. Ten weeks later I graduated from Basic Combat Training and weighed 130 pounds.
Goddamn Stevie, that song is a masterpiece
Yes! From a time when people went somewhere they actually cared about how they look unlike today.
Great times
Before all those corny dance shows, you had the Soul Train Dancers.
BEAUTIFUL women! No weaves, wigs or those ridiculous looking eye lashes. The guys wore their pants on their waistline. Why did those days have to go, cause I loved them so.
Eyelashes was very popular in the 70s with the fro
@@denaalabama-girl8242 Do you see that on this video?
@@stiffpeeter this video doesn't represent the entire 1970s though which is what you were implying lol. it's great to look back on the unique parts of the past but it's silly to act like weaves wigs and heavy makeup weren't popular until the 21st century. diana ross and all the greats wore dramatic makeup and wigs.
@@fortunamajor7239 I could go along with your point but I'm speaking of average everyday people. Of course celebrities wore and will always wear those costumes but in that era which I was a part of it was very uncommon to see everyday people looking like the clowns we see today other than prostitutes. Women combed their heads and men looked respectable. Look at this video. Do you see any women with the wigs/weaves and foolish looking eye lashes like we see today? During the late 80's to early 90's it was an insult to tell a woman she was "unbeweavable".
@@stiffpeeter LoL!!! Remember Bobby Jimmy and the Critters song "Hair or Weave"?
This just cheers me up. Back in the day, we got a few things right 😊
So much style, so much swag, so much fun...
People looked so athletic and trim before f'ing food additives fattened the entire planet.
Having fun, too. Those were happier days in the world.
Yep, Loved Stevie Wonder. And Stevie referred to himself as a "little nappy headed boy", wow, can you imagine that today ? The OUTRAGE, oh the OUTRAGE ! Especially if a white person had the audacity to say that, protests, firings, speeches.....
I love America for its food, which is not only fattening, also unfuckinghealthy
Robert Bonter it’s called cocaine
Robert Bonter that and super sizing every order. Now people are just too big on the average.
Wow I’m having fun watching this & I can only imagine what a blast this musta been in person
Wow what a time to be young & at the soul train dance line recording! 👍😍👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👌🏼
Fantastic video thanks for sharing 👏🏼😉✌🏼♥️
QUALUDES..........
I love those days...do your own thang❤️🔥💥
I will watch this till the end of my life.
