I think they are really interested in Yuan Kongya. Her ability is extremely useful. Apart from creating large amounts of food (without bodies) and/or water, can anybody think of a power more useful than the ability to awakening mutants without near death experiences?
I think despite how useful her ability is, it must have a catch. Maybe she or the plant has the unknown ability to control all the new mutants they create. In that case all those new mutants would be like sleeping agents waiting to be awakened.
