Right on! Another very famous drummer who used a second Hi-Hat in a similar position in the early 90s and still does is Chris Slade of AC/DC. And I bet it was for much of the same reason. It's just a little bit more relaxed and easier to play songs with fast 8th note Hi-Hat patterns using an open stance instead of crossing your arms. Just watch Chris Slade play "Let There Be Rock" on AC/DCs Live At Donington video. Sounds great and saves a little bit of energy, which is always good when playing a 2 hour Rock show. Great job, Mauricio! :)
Jajajaja "Marky, what the hell man?". Man you are officially my favorite drummer on UA-cam! Greetings from Colombia! Checkout a song called "Ivory" from "Dust" in which Marky was the drummer as well , that song have a really cool sound and the drums sound awesome IMO, very different from the Ramones sound
Just the analysis of marky’s drumming technique it’s a huge tribute to the Ramones. I really thank you for showing us how to achieve that speed. Aronund 95-2000 I was playing live many ramones hits and the drummer never reach that speed on hihats. Now I know exactly why. Gracias Mauricio!!
It's better to say "never question a man that knows how to reach the truth", but, being Maurício a man that knows how to reach the truth, be it trying or researching... Well yeah! I just can agree more with you :D DO NOT EVER QUESTION MAURI
yea yes yes sr! I remember see that in BsAs, like in 92/94 the concertnhall was really small and you can see all details! btw there’s a video of the 1992 argentina show and in Sheena you can see it very clear… 🍻💪🏾
👏🏻👏🏻🤘🤘 O ex-baterista do Motorhead Phill "Animal" Taylor tinha jogadas incriveis no chimbal.
I remember seeing that, and it caught my attention. I just didn't realize it was a hi hat. Although it makes sense now because it never moved as he was playing. I just thought maybe it was a very tightly fastened small ride or something.
"on the left hi hat, than sssst, trantision to the remote hi hat" I loved everytime your hand did.the motion, with the explanation, and the "ssst" sound effect😅
I actually recall your original Tiktok video talking about him being able to play the hi-hat at very fast speeds. To my ears, it always sounded like there was something else going on.. .. because you just can't get that type of "lope" sound if you're only playing the traditional 1 hi-hat on the left side ( or right if you're a lefty drummer :-) But, I was ultimately wrong too, because I assumed he was using two sticks on one hi-hat, not two hi -hats :-) . I think you've put this one to rest.. finally!
I wouldn’t know enough about him to say that you were wrong about it but if you asked me to bet money if he did that or not I would guess no haha! That’s a cool discovery! Love the videos!!!
I've seen a few different sticks used in your shorts.... I use different sticks depending on what I'm playing.... Everything from Little wooden 7A's, the standard 7A's... All the way up to my favorite sticks... The aluminum Ahead brand 5A's. Which are heavier, hit harder, and have a more powerful sound.. but the weight does wear me down faster. You have a favorite stick?
When CJ should enjoy the Ramones he got pain in the arm, couse of the high speed, and he learned to take the bass much lower and with stretched arm could play much faster and with no pain. So I think I the same with Marky Ramone and his technic
Richie! É claro👊
Its just those jealous people Mauricio nothing to care about 🙂🙂but i love you show this im not an expert at Ramones but i had never guess he had a hihat in front thanks for learning me new things 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙂🙂keep up your awesome work 🥁👌👌🌟🌟🌟🌟🙂
Most of metal drummers these days use second hi-hat and this is so normal, also all modern drummers using more than one crash all the time and some drummers use double ride like The Master Gene Hoglan, don’t think about this just practice, play and be creative 😊
4:55 Stupid people, yeah of course because Marky only used that for a little while, then after 93 or so the old songs became so extremely fast that he stopped bothering and all the hi-hat work on the old songs (Sheena, Rockaway Beach, Commando, etc, etc, etc) was open from then on. Marky tried several things outside of his normal setup throughout his career like three crashes, two toms mounted on the the bass drum, two floor toms, etc. The thing is that people feel insulted because they can't accept that a legend had to resort to some alternative techniques to help accomplish what was needed, and they see using a secondary hi-hat as a way too un-punk thing to do.
At that 47 minute clip where you clearly see him playing it, are you sure he's playing finger control and not wrist? His arm looks way too bent to use the fingers, no?
Like someone who plays at this level n smashes barker n messugah drum patterns is gonna lie about a marky ramone technique 😂 wtf is wrong with people ' they can't handle it when they see someone with ability ' really sad world
2 hi hats is the logical thing to do ' why are people such dicks to try n pull this guy up on this U should be glad someone so talented is willing to break stuff down and explain it to u
I saw The Ramones on the Brain Drain tour in 1989 or 1988.. he had a cool Pearl drum kit… they were the loudest band I ever saw

You are an incredible drummer and teacher, don’t care about haters.
I met Marky Ramone once when he toured with the Misfits. He’s a cool guy
Man, no worries there will always be haters. If someone's gonna search, they will search.
Jajajaja "Marky, what the hell man?". Man you are officially my favorite drummer on UA-cam! Greetings from Colombia! Parabéns Maurício, esse homi mata a cobra e mostra a baqueta kkkkk! Avante.
This is so funny! Great find man.
The second concert I ever saw was White Zombie with special guests The Ramones. I was 16, what a show.
Despite the love I had for this video, don’t worry about haters, you are one of the best teachers around. Greetings from Sao Paulo.
Never question Mauri 💪🏽
It's better to say "never question a man that knows how to reach the truth", but, being Maurício a man that knows how to reach the truth, be it trying or researching... Well yeah! I just can agree more with you :D
DO NOT EVER QUESTION MAURI
I really enjoy your content dude, thank you for the time and effort that you put into the videos. We all learn so much from you.
Chris Slade did a similar thing with the extra hi-hat.
Let there be Rock
Great video and interesting research! More power to you Mr Weimar!

Ringo Star stile Two HI HAT!!!🤷🏻♂️ Love it's RAMONES FOR EVER 💙💛💙🔟🏆🏆🏆🇦🇷💙
I've seen Larz (Metallica) with a second Hi-Hat set up over his floor toms on the right side.
I wouldn’t know enough about him to say that you were wrong about it but if you asked me to bet money if he did that or not I would guess no haha! That’s a cool discovery! Love the videos!!!
I saw them in 95 in Seattle. Loud as fuck and it was just about the roughest pit I've ever seen, including Slayer. Great show too
Boom!

I got a good one for you, the drumming at the end of use my third arm Pantera. Far beyond driven. maybe some type of polyrhythm ?

Forget the haters, they are fueled by jealousy!
Voce é o cara!!! ❤
That is EXACTLY how I would use two hi-hats. One open, one closed. It’s efficient.
not really, the most efficient way is,both open and the one on the pedal with a quick release/drop to play double bass
One half closed above the ride is very useful as long as it washes abit when u play on it
Most of metal drummers these days use second hi-hat and this is so normal, also all modern drummers using more than one crash all the time and some drummers use double ride like The Master Gene Hoglan, don’t think about this just practice, play and be creative 😊
Niceee... hope you cover darkside from mgla
Im not a hater, seu mestre pangaré. And you are right! Desculme a minha ignorância.
9:46 mutley
Sugestão: Intro da Wheel of Fortune - Tony MacAlpine
I keep saying myself why I use finger technic better when I play on ride. That is explain. So Thank you:)
foda como sempre. Ainda uso o vídeo para praticar o inglês! =D
Fui enganado a vida inteira!
Is that where Danny’s Carey got the idea? Haha. Yer the best Mauricio
Valeu boca aberta 🤘

Quite a few
Wow man...some people hey!! Smh
Like someone who plays at this level n smashes barker n messugah drum patterns is gonna lie about a marky ramone technique 😂 wtf is wrong with people ' they can't handle it when they see someone with ability ' really sad world
Okay, so what exactly is the technique? xD
Valeu
Why the debate to begin with?

2 hi hats is the logical thing to do ' why are people such dicks to try n pull this guy up on this
U should be glad someone so talented is willing to break stuff down and explain it to u
Con un HI-HAT hace lo mismo!!!!!!! MARKY ES D10S!!!!!!
👽
😂this is great love it
