A little on the heavy side. I'd say drop all the extra clothing if you was using air bnb every few days. The duct tape :) If you carry the filter and pills you could drop the extra filter as its not needed if you have the pills and your stove to boil if needed. Alot of ways to cut the weight but not giving up any comfort items.
Good thoughts. Nice to know. I think I was just nervous and wanted back ups of things. And I would rotate shirt, underwear, and socks every day so they wouldn’t get too gross haha. Next time I’m out there I’ll probably cut some things out, duck tape for sure haha
Thants great! How many sections have you completed? I’ve got videos out for the Eleven Point and Between the Rivers. Seven more sections of footage to release!
I was on a roadtrip the other fall from NM. I spontaneously decided to hike the Taum Sauk to Johnsons shut-ins. I WAS LOST MOST OF THE TIME, and when I got there, it was all shut down. I took a shower, and turned around and walked back. Almost went hungry. Surprizingly ran out of water. I'm moving down to Arkansas. I should really figure out the Ozark Trail better. I will back watch some of your videos.
What a scary situation! So glad you’re ok. I hiked that exact hike on my Ozark Trail thru-hike so I’ll have a video about it coming out. But please check out all the Missouri hiking trails I’ve explored. Bunches of videos on my channel 🤙
@ maybe again this summer… I might have to make a plan next time… I’m not sure how cool that was for the husband. Ps it would be fun to climb sometime together if I can get my forearms trained up. :-/
@@BikingZen I know what you mean. Abby was apprehensive about my 18 days on the trail. She ended up resupplying me every 5-6 days and she'd rent an AirBnB for use for the night. It made her feel like she was part of the trip. It wasn't planned, but it was a nice revelation. YES to climbing! I've hit up First Ascent in Uptown the last couple times I've been in Chicago.
Duct tape can definitely be handy. A trick someone told me is to wrap some of the tape around a trekking pole or water bottle so you don't have to carry the entire role.
@@ryandavies5321 That has not been the case for me. It may be less sticky, but if so, it wasn't discernibly so. You are sticking the tape to itself like it is on the roll.
Congrats on the hike! I'm just going to throw it out there that losing 10 pounds in 18 days is borderline dangerous. You were obviously in a calorie deficit the entire time.
You are correct. I was probably eating about 2k calories per day, but burning more. Odd thing was I wasn’t really ever hungry on the trail. Don’t worry, I’ve gained all back at this point
Happy to share and that you found me. I did not fish on the trail. It did pass by a couple of Missouri’s rivers, but I don’t know anything about fishing them.
What do you think about my pack weight? Too much? Not enough?
Not a bad weight all in. Now everyone is going to ask what your base weight was. lol

Tbh I’m not even sure base weight would be referring to haha. I’m conscious of weight when I buy gear but I’ve never been and ultra-light person

Great job!! Last year I started section hiking the OT. Can’t wait to see more of your journey!

Great channel, deserves more views. I’ve watched you a bunch to prep for my own local trips
Thank you for saying that. Truly appreciate you watching. And I’m so glad it helps as you get out and explore Missouri!
This was not the Walmart gear review i was expecting 😂
😂😂 There is an actual trail called the Ozark Trail out there
Awesome video!!!
Thank you! Glad you like it 🙏
Great video! Thanks for the info.
Thank you! I hope it’s helpful as you plan your Ozark Trail adventures

Well well well!!! Look at what cool channel UA-cam just recommended me! Very cool stuff buddy! Ps this is Jonny Nelson
Hey!!! Look at us doing fun outdoors things. Thanks bud. I was envious of you biking without a plan journey. When’s the next one?

@ awww poor Abby :-(. I’m going to try and hunt down your contact info and message you so we can possibly get a climb in at some point!
You found me! And don’t worry, Abby was happy to be a part of the experience 😉

Then you have tape thats not super sticky when you remove it from whatever you wrapped it around.

That’s super smart. I totally understand having some, just not a full roll
That was my first thought too
This makes total sense!
Nice video!
Thank you! Appreciate you watching
