Big Bear is a great place to visit. A couple years ago, I lived in Beaumont, Calif., which was just down the mountain from Big Bear. If you like Indian food, I highly recommend you stop by the Himalayan restaurant in Big Bear. My wife and I think it's one of the best Indian restaurants we've eaten at. I was backpacking in Yosemite National Park almost a month ago. I had 24% SOC when I got back to my Model Y. I had 130+ miles to get back to my house. I arrived at my house with 7% SOC. It was down hill all the way back. In Yosemite I was at around 9,000 ft. elevation and here in Central Valley we're at 92 ft. I got a total of 303 miles on a single charge. Never had to charge that trip. Hills really extend your range. Another great video! Thanks for taking the time to put this together. You give me EV truck envy. Perhaps once I reach the point where I don't want to hike anymore, I'll take the plunge. Overland is backpacking glamping! LOL
Yeah it’s pretty cool how much extra range you get while going downhill. Will definitely have to check out that restaurant! I love hiking and do some backpacking as well and yes overlanding is definitely on the glamping side of things 😂 Thanks for watching🙌🏻
It's a bit cool to see/tell the age of some of these videos based on the screens/displays/features. Awesome to see how OTAs are continually bringing new capabilities to out vehicles
Such a beautiful video! Stunning sunset and very cool morning time lapse - those clouds, beautiful! The headrest lights in the R1S are very cool, what a great setup. Looking forward to your next adventure!!
Just got back from a weekend up there as well and did some hiking around. Only had our very low quattro so no real 4wheeling. Endless roads from just forest roads to john bull or deep creek to push the adventure.
A few years ago there were very few EVs up in Big Bear where I would go up, drive around for a week, leave the car outside in the snow, and drive back down on a single charge. I remember everyone online back then didn’t even believe me when I told them you could do that in an EV.
Over time I’m sure most people will start to realize how capable these trucks are👍🏻 I’ve done this trip up to Big Bear quite a few times now and never any issue with range. Thanks for watching!
Love your video. It is very impressive that the battery could hold for the whole trip with a 100 miles left. I love camping and have the same ikamper with my Defender, but my car is a gas eater. I'm skeptical about camping with an EV and your video change my mind.
Thanks! Normally my fiancé drives while I drone🙌🏻 Sometimes I’ll setup shots while stopped and then just have the drone move in one direction as we drive.
I wanna do this so bad but I bought my R1T with 21” street tires, though. Are there any good trails that you think the 21” could handle? This looks so fun!
I think you could get away with some easy off roading but I wouldn’t do anything too challenging. There are quite a few dirt roads /mild trails in the Big Bear area to be explored for sure.
Did you have any regen issues going down from Big Bear? What regen setting were you on? I usually get a regen diminished or overheating error (I forget which).
Hi 😊! Very nice video, lovely camping and nice camera work. Keep on ! I also make camping videos, before in Russia, ow in Vietnam. Take care! Good luck with your channel!
I always look forward to your videos! They portray the joys of owning an R1T better than any other medium out there. Keep it up!
Thanks! Appreciate the support 🙌🏻🙌🏻

Agreed! Very cool to see how the UI is evolving and getting better
You've inspired me to get a Rivian. My order comes in a couple weeks. Love your videos. Keep up the great work!
Awesome to hear! Thanks for the support🙌🏻

Thanks and happy you enjoyed it:)

There are so many forest roads to explore up there for sure!
So cool, I remember going from Big Bear out the back (dirt) road to Pioneer Town. Of Course that was in 1970.
Great video! I love the sleeping setup in the R1S.
Thanks! James definitely has a great setup for his R1S
Great Video! Rivian is def more than capable. Care to share that trail! Would love to give it a go with my kids!! Cheers!
Thanks! We were primarily on Upper Holcomb Creek 3N08👍🏻

Happy to hear that! There are definitely some locations that aren’t accessible by EV yet but plenty of places you can go for sure
Awesome video thanks for sharing. What was the name of the trail?
Trail is Upper Holcomb Creek 3N08 👍🏻
Loved this video. Can you name your phone mount solution ?
Thanks! The phone mount is a couple products actually - details are in this video:

Outstanding video!
Thank you!
Very nice drone shots 😍👌🏾
Thanks!🙌🏻
Great! Can’t wait for my R1T! Did you ever find a solution for the roof rear spoiler causing lower mileage with tent?
I’m currently developing a 3d printed part - will be posting more on that soon!
Great video! What trail did you take to find that spot ?
Thanks! This was off of Upper Holcomb Creek 3N08
Awesome video as usual from you Stephen! Loved it! If I had a Rivian, I think I’d have the SUV so I could get my boxes all up in there! 🤣👏🏼😃🙌🏼👊🏼
Thanks Greg! I think you’d be able to fix all your boxes and then some 😂🙌🏻😁
Nice video.
Thank you!
Who's piloting the drone when you're all driving? Well done video!
Thanks! Normally my fiancé drives while I drone🙌🏻 Sometimes I’ll setup shots while stopped and then just have the drone move in one direction as we drive.
Great Video😀
Thanks!
Would you have made it without using conserve mode?
Hard to say for sure but probably yes 👍🏻 Efficiency would’ve been a bit lower but still likely enough to cover all the miles

I’ve been setting my regen to low on longer downhill sections and that’s been helping prevent that overheating issue most of the time👍🏻
Hi 😊! Very nice video, lovely camping and nice camera work. Keep on ! I also make camping videos, before in Russia, ow in Vietnam. Take care! Good luck with your channel!
Hello and thanks! Best of luck of to you as well🙌🏻
What PSI were you able to air down to?
I generally off road at the Rivian recommended 30psi 👍🏻
Awesome trip! bummer Rivian is charging Rivian owners for their chargers but understandable.
Yeah it was only a matter of time!
id never go EV good looking truck just not my cup of tea love petrol
Nothing wrong with that
