By being able to effectively cycle the 1200 fps 1 oz. loads, opens up more possibilities for reloading options, even though their warranty explicity voids shooting other than factory ammunition. Especially after I purchased 2 flats of Remington American Clay & Field, 1 oz #9 shot @ 1200 fps, prior to being aware of your testing criteria for the inertia shotguns ! I appreciate your words concerning the "Benelli click" and do agree Retay has addressed the issue. I like everything about the Retay except their quality control. Needless to say I've lost confidence in Retay. Wish you could buy shotguns like autos, drive em before you buy em, but on to my question. From my observation the biggest difference between gas and inertia guns is how they lock the bolt. The gas guns have a shoulder which rises up into contact with a slot in the top of the barrel which has become part of the receiver, while the inertia guns seem to all have some form of a rotating lugs bolt head. Upon firing they both do something to relieve these locking mechanisms. In your vast experience have you seen an inertia gun that has a bolt locking system with the rising shoulder like the gas guns? Seems this would eliminate the possibility of the "click" while maintaining the simplicity of cleaning an inertia gun.
I've written enough about inertia guns: www.chuckhawks.com/theinertiashotgunofdoomandmystery.html . The original Civolani action had no rotating bolt head. Much of the 'click' is not loading the gun properly: easing it closed, rather than allowing it to snap closed with the bolt release.
Hello Mr Wakeman, hope you had happy holidays. I decided to upgrade my trap, found a good deal on a Champion that looks just like the one your using. Any advice on the battery? Would like to keep it light to transport. Oh, and thanks for the POI/POA demo, very good info for every new gun. I wish every individual shotgun came with test pattern for that gun so the buyer would know what they're getting.

No, the warranty is *not* void from shooting reloads-- no warranty is. Warranties do not cover damage caused by "improper ammunition."
