This car has been in the family for 30+ years, so it has some great history with us. Make sure to watch the whole video, as you'll get to see me embarrass myself stalling it multiple times :)... Besides the F8 ivy green Road Runner 383 the GTX 440 was my next favorite. Great show guys !
I LOVE THAT CAR! Muscle cars from that era are a blast to drive and work on. The GTX is one of the best ever made. Nice job.
Restoring mine now. 1970 GTX. 440-6 barrel. 727 Torqueflite trans. 3:23 8 3/4 rearend. Deep burnt orange. Air grabber hood. 15” Magnum 500. Original I still have are 14”. I rebuilt the engine with 10:1 pistons and aluminum heads. Rebuilt all three Holly carbs. Melling oil pump. Milodon 7 qt pan. Heart and soul is a 484 purple shaft cam. Car really lopes at idle. I took the hooker headers off and replaced them with 70 exhaust manifolds. And I paid out the nose for those. I hate I ever threw mine away. I have owned my GTX since 1981. I bought it in a little town Kannapolis NC. I still live here today. This town will once again hear this GTX thunder on the street. Been off the road since 1993. Thanks for your video and your car is really a nice example of these beasts. Drive safe.
My best friend had a black a/g 440 4spd gtx in high school (1987).
Got my fingers wet & a hummer in the back of that car... it got me into mopars. We used to pull engines out of motorhomes etc when we'd blow em up. Later on had some hemi cars, darts, max wedge etc. Goodtimes.
Glad to see the young fella taking an interest in the old muscle, rare these days. It's awesome, nice car.
Such a Beauty!!! The commercial is so cool too! This car is becoming one I really would love to own one day.
Oh, the good old days...
Nice GTX never saw a black one with burnt orange interior looks good! I had a 70 Charger 500, 383 with a pistol grip 4 speed with a console. The weak point was the 8/34 rear end , broke the 3:91 and a 3:55 . The 4:56 was the only one I didn't break. The car definitely should have had a Dana from the factory. I owned that car 50 years ago didn't know that it would be worth a lot of money today! Loved the opening burn out brings back good memories.
Sounds like you had a gorgeous car. Thank you for watching!
Love it! Brings back memories. Never will one see an Air Grabber on a hood of a new car! These cars had class and go-power. You had to be able to handle one of these cars, no nanny devices helping you out! Enjoy!
That GTX is sweet, that interior color is perfect. Reminds me of my Super Bee..
Cool video. I commented on your Facebook post and came here to see the video. I saw this car at Carlisle this year at the same hotel you stayed at. I don't think it was you who unloaded it off the trailer though. I had the Burnt Orange 70 GTX .
Love the content, beautiful Mopar...My father once had a 1970 Roadrunner, pearl white...had the 440 magnum, which he blew up trying to race a 327 with 3 duces, so he ran alcohol to win, which he did...however a friend of his owned a junk yard, and for $75 dropped a police interceptor 440Hp in for him...After that he said he could outrun anything but a radio...lol
Hahaha, that’s an awesome story!
Collin, you are the star, I would like to be able to hear you better. I turn up the volume to listen to you, and then get blasted from something else in the video.......please tell your camera man to fix this.......
We’re currently working out our audio issues. We run the channel together, so we’re both “stars”, haha. Thank you for watching.
So beautiful !
I want one of these cars. You just NEVER see these cars! But then again, I also want a 71 or 72 javelin.
Great video!!
Thank you!
Nice job!
I had two both red black Interiors 1/4 speed pistol shifter other ones 727 auto Dana rears on the hyway nothing touches top end
How many black 1970 gtx were built
It should have also come with the Hemi rear leaf springs. They have extra leafs.
I want to buy this.
GTX and Charger r/t usually got a console 4 speed. Less common to see non console.
The GTX was an answer to the many big muscle cars but the car that could not be beat was the AMX and Javalin....AMC...Jeep were way ahead ...The 401 was a reworked 390 and the most HP from any automaker in 1970....if you want early performance find one and you will quickly realize how dated the GTX was...a Javalin would be the car for you to cut your teeth on the had many later features... that's why AMC began building Mopars in 77/78.
I like those a lot too. Thank you for watching!
The 401 wasn't introduced until 1971, and was not the most HP in 1970.
60s and 70s Chrysler cars had great styling and reliable power trains, the paint, panel fit and finish were horrific.
Doesn't your mommies worry about you guys playing with these muscle cars . It's like busting broncos .
...My dream car...❤.....Shes a black beauty...👌🏼
