Thats false. Monogamy is more prevalent outside the US than in the US. Internationally, people adhere to their cultural and religious standards at a higher percentage than in the US.
Yeah if you go to countries are not in the west monogamy is very important in the societies are a lot more smaller and there's less room to cheat the problem is people have a lot more options and they usually try to test as many of them before they decide to settle down but the effects of being with all these people hurt you for your future long-term loved ones.

The reality is the vast majority of men are monogamous and faithful out of convenience. Most guys just can't afford or manage that kind of lifestyle whether it be financially, physically or mentally but the desire for other women is always present. We have to actively fight urges and keep ourselves out of situations that could tempt us bc we know it could risk our relationship/family.
If women didn't care if we stepped out 80% of men in relationships would have at least one side chick or occasional hookup and/or escort. The other 20% would live poly. We settle for monogamy bc we know most women require it and it's the most pragmatic and manageable option for the majority of us. Most men don't have a problem with settling bc we are used to sacrificing our wants and needs for the benefit of the family.
