    We get a lot of requests to show real estate in Mexico. So today, I’m touring two affordable Queretaro apartments for rent. One is in the historic center of the city and the other is a ~20 minute walk away, close to Puerta La Victoria mall.
    A couple of weeks ago, we showed you some beautiful Querétaro rentals in the $1,200 - $1,800 USD per month range (watch that video here: • This HUGE MEXICO APART... ) This week I'm looking at a lower budget and a more central location to see the difference.
    If you're interested in renting either of these apartments in Queretaro, please contact:

    You might be thinking that these options seem a bit expensive considering what you’re getting and what you’ve seen available in other cities across Mexico. That's actually true. Queretaro is a relatively wealthy city and also considered one of the safest cities in Mexico. Therefore, the real estate prices reflect that and are a bit higher than most other cities.
    With that said, I’m not trying to say that there aren’t any super cheap options here. In this recent video of ours, we showed you how to find rentals in Queretaro for as little as $75 USD/mo: • I want to live in Mexi...

      Like furnished one. Less hassle furnishing and better to be centrally located when single. Other one might be too isolating and can find pkg a short distance away for a good price (maybe someone with a spare space or land who wants to make extra $.)

      The wooden bar is cool in the first one but not crazy about that red wall in the kitchen. I’d want to paint it lol and i don’t like there’s no views and a window right across from one bedroom. it’s not bad but those things matter even if you’re renting.

    See, Maddie, you look terrific with your new Bob cut hairdo and you were always so scared to try it that short. You have become more courageous and self- reliant as you must rely solely on yourself these days... brava.
    That odd "living room" in the first apartment was formerly the "garden courtyard" that was converted to interior space. That's why you have the "odd" outdoor window between the two spaces.
    Your crochet blanket looks mighty fine; what a talent! Thank you for sharing. I enjoy the glimpses of your personality and personal life; they are welcome and appreciated.

    The furnished one was just beautiful. I agree with everyone who is encouraging you to start a real estate side hustle.
    I think maybe you should keep looking though? Both of those places seemed a little pricey, at least for one person.
    Plus, it’s fun to know what else might be available just outside the centro.

    First apt is the deal here. Be careful of apartments facing the west as the afternoon sun is the strongest and your A/C will get a workout meaning higher electric rates. Red walls are something I got used to. My home came with red and yellow walls. I actually like it. The orange master bath was not fun at all.

    No parking should be a deal-breaker. As a single lady, you never know when you might need to run out for some reason at an odd hour, and you don’t want to go down dark, empty streets hunting the Tangerinemobile (in any city).
    Yes, the second one might have some daytime construction noise (which might not be too bad given the quality if the windows etc. That I could see) but given the size of that mega-complex I’ll bet there are some great amenities (fitness club, clubhouse with big-screen, etc.) that you didn’t mention. Those would be great avenues to meet new friends and build yourself a good new local support system.
    Best of luck, Maddie.

    Are you considering supplementing your income by becoming a real estate agent for Americans-expats? From what I can tell in your apartment videos, you would be good at it. And being from US, and speaking Spanish, with familiarity with Mexico you have some unique skill. BTW if you are actually considering any of these DO NOT give specifics on where they are. To many wackos out there

    • @hagendf
      @hagendf 2 роки тому +15

      Yeah there is a market for that. Real estate consulting for gringo expats. As somebody who plans to live there next year, finding a place to live is intimidating when going to a new country with limited Spanish. I want to be sure I don't get taken advantage of, which is why I would look for a place with help from an amiga already there or another gringo.

    • @brbopo
      @brbopo 2 роки тому +8

      There's already a very well established market for that, mexicans with real estate backgrounds that speak fluent (some flawless) english. When we were looking for places in Aguascalientes (not a huge city by any means and not huge expat community either), most of the real estate agents we saw spoke English and had a very good understanding of how american culture would differ from mexican culture.

Also want to say your new haircut looks really good 🙂 One question I have for you since no one ever seems to talk about it. Everyone always mentions the mosquitoes, but what about "other" bugs in Mexico? From all the places you lived with Jordan, were there places that had more spiders or other insects creeping into your apartments? Living in Canada, I am used to the normal flora of insects here, but would love to know what to expect if I move to Mexico - maybe a topic to cover in a vlog? Thank you for the Saturday video. Have an amazing week!

      SCORPIONS, Mexico has one of the first places worldwide in the variety and aboundance of scorpions, in a distant second place black widows and way far in third place violinist spiders; However, in big cities like Queretaro they do not pose a big problem, most of the time they are under control. The scorpion problem is more pronounced in rural areas or certain runned down areas of big cities. Mosquitos may be a problem as well, but since Queretaro is at a high elevation the mosquito problem is mostly in the costal or warmer areas. Hope this helps.

    • @lauriedawes6003
      @lauriedawes6003 2 роки тому +2

      We have normal bugs here like everywhere in the world. Spiders, ants, flies, mosquitoes, grasshoppers, preying mantis, beetles, etc. We also have scorpions, but each area has different types. The ones around Querétaro or San Miguel de Allende are the small light brown kind. No big deal! If you have a garden there will be some hiding under some pots. If you live in a condo I doubt that you would ever see one. We have had the occasional one in our house. You just need to wear slippers in the dark. They are stupid though, and they just sit there on a white wall or light carpet waiting for you to smush them. They don't run away when you approach them. I have seen 11 or 12 in the last six years but have never been stung!

I really like your style and the black dress is very pretty. the apartments seem so different if I may say from the many quaint little places you have stayed that had a nice Mexican flare. Both apts are well worth the money. The furnished apt would be great for someone looking for short term, if they are willing to rent short term. After living in Central America for the past decade -- my advice to anyone is to rent an empty apt and get your own furniture and things. It gets really old using someone else's stuff.

    Hi Maddie. I personally wouldn't rent either of those apartments, but if I had to choose, would take the first one. If you know people, you can find a place to park your car. The second place is going to have construction and it might go on for years. Think cement dust. You'd have to have your windows closed all the time and the apartment would still be full of it. First apt. had more personality but no parking and second one was too sterile. Unless you're in a rush, I'd keep looking. Do you have to be right downtown? Convenient maybe but busy and noisy, constant construction concerns. Also, if you're going to keep Laska with you you might consider something with an outdoor space where he can run freely.

    My guess is that you have decided to keep looking. If you had chosen one, you would have given far less info about its location. Lack of a view is a killer for the first one, plus the decor and arrangement are a bit off. The second has very sterile feel, but with the right furnishings and decor might be OK. The view might improve over time.

    What a great price for all of that in that rental, it includes a lot. You had better stay there, the rental market in Phoenix is totally out of control and they are very few and far between. If you are in a good location, stay there in Mexico until it calms down, here. People are just crazed in the housing market right now.

    This was a great video Maddie. You'd be great at Real Estate as you are very detailed. Thank you. BTW, I'm in the process of getting my Mexican Citizenship so as soon as that is done I will be moving to Queretaro.

    Love the blanket! I like the second apartment better than the first because you can decorate and make it your own. I am not sure about choosing that exact apartment because of the future construction and noise. Maybe a different apartment with a better view in the complex. Also I like that you can partially furnish through your rent some basic furniture and appliances.

    Not good idea to have windows facing the sunset in Querétaro. Could get very hot. Best if faces south, warm in winter, fresh in summer.

    Great video Maddie!! Love both apartments too. It would be a tough decision for me. Keith said he’d choose the 2nd because of parking. You look great too!! And love your top!

    The first apartment was nice, but I didn't like the layout too much or the placement of the window blinds. I prefer the second apartment since it looks bigger, and the layout makes more sense. Also, I'd rather ride the elevator when coming home with groceries than hauling them up some stairs to the second floor.

    I liked the first apartment better, but did it have AC? Or would you need it with no real direct sunlight shining in? Being downtown makes it feel more like a "holiday", while the second apartment felt more like "just an apartment" LOL

    Thank you, Maddie. I enjoy seeing what’s available in the rental market. Are you feeling more comfortable living in Mexico as a single female?

    Great video! You are inspiring me. I followed your breast explant videos and have a consultation with a plastic surgeon to possibly remove mine. Mine was due to breast cancer after masectomy but I've disliked them from day one. I'm ready to hopefully feel a little better and explore more! I love seeing your confidence.

    Encouraged to see you're looking to stay in the city you originally chose when it was both of you. Unless it was a choice you didn't really agree with, but you were just going along with to "get along," I think this is probably a good idea at least in the short term. Just don't sign a 2-year lease or anything! :-)

    I always enjoy seeing you and it was a great experience, again, house hunting with you. I have to say that both apartments are a great opportunity for interested parties who are looking a short or long term rental that is centrally located and affordable and thanks for showing them to your audience. I hope any of those can be a good fit for someone relocating to our city if you decide not taking any, specially that both landlords are great people to deal with. Hugs to you and Jordan!
