Kid A is great but I think for someone who's just started with Radiohead I'd recommend In Rainbows first.
The Bends is the album before OK Computer ... its fantastic but a little more straightforward rock ... its a good place to start before going into their even more experimental stuff.
Kid A is one of their greatest. The follow up to Ok Computer. They broke a lot of new ground with that one and kinda changed some of the trajectory of modern music.
You're back! I remember watching you In Rainbows reactions years ago. I think I might have even suggested Kid A and Amnesiac to you because I think from hearing you talk your tastes match up more with those albums. Thanks for another great series of reactions!

Great take - I mean, man, if you are into texture at the moment, I cannot think of a better album maybe ever created to dive into than this one. I love zillions of genres and bands and albums, from 1930s delta blues to Vivaldi to Wu Tang Clan - but Radiohead and specifically this album, my favorite now for 25 years and never been replaced...yeah, they just top the heap. This is the 3rd of 9 albums, was a huge leap ahead and seemed to come from nowhere in a pretty incredible musical decade (grunge, hip hop, electronica, Trip Hop, Industrial... extensive high quality alt and indie rock, Brit-Pop...like you name it it was popping off or emerging or hitting it's stride, at insane levels all decade long - the 90's brought us SO MUCH to love and immerse into). OK Computer is from 1997 (In Rainbows was 10 years later in 06/07). Then they did "Kid A in 1999 and went WAY into an entirely different sound equally brilliant but as a fan looking for OK Computer part 2 it threw me off completely and even as a massive fan, it took me so by surprise and was so different I took a 6 year hiatus - missed 2 albums entirely which I love to death now as well as I do "Kid A" - and dug deeply into blues back through the last 100 years until...I happened to catch "In Rainbows: From the Basement" and it stunned me like a 100 foot tall hand to the face in all the ways such an experience might be positive(?)..and yanked me back into Radiohead World and I've never left again. OK Computer is THE sound texture album out of all of the ones they did, it rocks, it tugs at your soul, it is unforgettable, it is a concept album (thematically not so much any story) but it foretells our entire following 25 years up to today with eery accuracy, which is another reason it is so iconic, along with influencing so many bands there is no count really...all those things I just said but also it is so so easy to just open up and enjoy the ride - like you can both listen and hear and analyze or just let it sweep you away, or do both, as this reaction did a good job with. Radiohead was inspired by DJ Shadow on this song. You're spot on with the hip hop influence!

Can you check out Circa Survive? Every album is good but all have different flavors. Their latest double EP A Dream About Death/A Dream About Love is very electronic and if you like this you should like it!
