Long time watcher, first time commenter. I just wanted to say that your vocal delivery is improving greatly; this video is the most entertaining/smoothly executed I have seen from a strictly engaging standpoint. Love the videos, I appreciate the content more than ever even though the "golden age" of mystery box value has largely passed. Keep up the good work.
Hopefully some of those foils go up in value, otherwise out of a couple nice pulls this was definitely a rough buy. Not bad if you were just filling out your collection with all the limited printings though, there were some nice promos in there.
There's some good stuff in there but i think 300 is a little steep. DId you scan it all up? I couldn't catch every single card because you skip through too quickly at times but i saw quite a few good foils and decent few dollar cards. I'm curious to see the total scanned value
I feel compared to bulk of just commons this gentleman at least sold you foils and rares you can still sell. Maybe you break even maybe come out ahead.
for me it's too many cards I have loads of, but seeing the og stuff is always fun, even if just commons, looked like in pretty good shape too, so I would say not a dumpster fire but also a lot of eh.
I think it was a fair buy. You got some cards that may be worth more eventually. The market for magic in general at least for older cards is down right now.
Love a random buy, hard to get anything worthwhile nowadays. I had tried to get that pyroblast promo from wilds of eldraine but wotc never supplied a load of canadian stores with them for the promotion... Maybe they got them super late? I cant remember but i spoke to 3 in my province and they were all shorted...
Better than usual, but still not better than average... Gotta hit a collection with some hidden gems. Still want you to pull an unlimited dual land on camera!!!😂
Just a quick note...Icy Manipulator's original printing was in Alpha, Beta and Unlimited, not in Ice Age as you state in the video (actually you said Coldsnap, but the card was Ice Age). I actually own and treasure an Unlimited printing of the card that I picked up before it spiked to over 100 dollars for an Unlimited version because I prefer the original artwork for the card. Later on you go past some foil Jwari Disruptions, they are not super expensive, but are a bit over 3 bucks each. Edit: Just reached the end of the video, I will disagree with some of the people commenting. Did you overpay, yes probably a bit, but there were tons of foils in the collection and those tend to inexplicably spike sometimes and go up in value from out of nowhere. So you did overpay somewhat (I would have been comfortable at probably $200 U.S.), but not egregiously. This collection could prove a solid investment a bit later on down the line just because of the stupid number of foils included.
Than you never loved the game…it’s a game a hobby not an investment. If you left because you’re cards for the game lost value you had unrealistic expectations of a game.
I'd feel bad if I were you at $300 (less any more you make from this video). My philosophy on bulk buys is 50% on collections over $100 unless there are cards over $50. you're going to lose 2-4 hours sorting, pricing, and organizing this. And then you have to turn around and sell. So this would be a great $50 buy... but for $300, it's a time sink
@@TheSenselessName Yeah...100% - here's the rationale 1. How much do you value your time? I tend to go by half of my yearly rate an hour - i.e. if I make 80k a year, my time is worth $80 an hour as a consultant, short-term worker... but I budget $40 an hour for side-hustles or spent. Which sounds a bit much, but it scales. Is it worth $40 for me to drive 2 hours to get a $20 card for $2? Sure, it's an $18 swing, but between time and gas... am I coming out ahead? For a rich collector, is spending $4000 to get $4500 in sales (for $500 in profit) worth 5 hours? Probably not. 2. This is an 800-count box. Sorting is going to take hours. You saw Matt go through in roughly 12-15 mins. But that's just the first look. Then it's sorting for decks, sorting for collection, sorting for sale. So that's maybe an hour. So $300 + $40 - now $340. Then it takes an hour or 2 more to put all the cards in their proper location. $340 + $60 (call it 90 minutes). $400. And $170 in cards over $1. Let's say you keep 20% of that, so the 170 is now $140. Less $30 in value as a return, and you're at $370. With $140 in cards worth selling. Of which you'll spend HOURS flipping, and suddenly $140 in sales is $120 in time posting, managing, and there. So $370 + plus $20 in net gains from cards in the collection you don't need... and it's costing you $390 in time, money, and return. It's a net loss unless some of these cards 10x in value. (except of course, for a content creator channel like this, since he gets views and builds the brand). I'll pay market value for a Power 9 or Gaea's Cradle, but for a collection of cards via a friend of FB marketing with the top value picks removed, I will value the lot at 30%-50% of TCG based on how much time and upside there is for me. This is the same rationale for a LGS... except it's easier for them to sell.
Feels like they inserted about $75 worth of $5+ cards to make it seem like you were getting something for your $300. Though tbh, unless you needed a ton of that low tier stuff (which I would assume you don't need), it wasn't worth it. Only way it "might be worth it" is if you gemerate enough revenue from this video to make a profit after subtracting the cost of buying the collection That being said, at least this collection was way better then 95% of those GW auction ones you've gotten in the past
problem with this "collection" is that you know it was accurately sorted out. You can tell because there are cards spanning from 1996 to present day, but they're all junk. If it was a genuine collection it would have had at least a couple of rares from the dark or legends, maybe the bad ones, but at least some. Instead there were just commons from those sets, not even 1 uncommon. The rares were just from newer sets and the guy who sorted this didn't bother taking out the few decent ones because he knows they're going to turn to junk in a few years anyways . Those few cards from legends and dark really piss me off tbh, they can't be there by chance, they were inserted in only to make you think this was not a pile of scraps from standard sets (which it is).
Definitely overpaid by a long shot unfortunately. Ill give you credit, youre very good and staying happy and positive during these random buy videos because the dont usually go well. Thanks for sharing
Yes, you got ripped off for sure. It should have been $300 of cards $1 and over, not counting anything else minimum. And honestly, selling off bulk like that it should probably be more like 400-500 worth for that price. It is almost impossible to sell through that junk to get your money back in the first place.
Ya... Do NOT buy Random Lots from Losers that, "Slide In", your DM Or Anywhere Else... I Suppose the Give Away would have been the Trash Shipping Job? 😑... Love ya Brother!!! 💗 👊 🍻
so far i fell as though it wasn't like a malicious rip off necessarily . im not familiar with the particular viewer of the channel. I do feel strongly this was priced at full market though. hopefully the seller at least will correct this in the future. when i sell cards i sell at 50%. unless bulk than we make a deal.
This clearly isn't his "collection". Hope the seller reads all of this. He really took advantage and is a terrible member of the community. Hope he really did quit so no one else falls for his scams in the future.
9 min in and your at like 50$ ill sell you my collection if your gonna over pay all the time. haha. i think you got smoked. that would be like paying me 4k for my collection. at least in mine you would have all the Fetch lands, and shocks, with cards of value. yikes. i wouldnt of paid 100$ for that. im sorry man.
It would make it better to have a total in the corner on the opening videos

Dude just bulk rated you to thr face.
That's not cool what this guy dod. He knew what was in there. Sad
Def got fleeced here sorry, sorting alone and tryna sell the bulk this box might be worth 100 tops
He got alot more then 100 if sold in single value.
@@geometricreality4543 not if you factor time, cost of shipping
Mostly bulk rares…I buy and sale bulk on the reg I wouldn’t have paid $300 for that…$80 tops it’s not even a 1k box it’s a 800 count.
Exactly. It was a scam basically. He probably is flipping it on people who just don't know.

Really seems like the filled the box with chaf and just slotted in some sleeved cards to keep you interested. Rough.
love your videos bud keep up the good work
🍺 a lot more coming in the next 4-6 weeks. Stay tuned. It’s going to be a wild ride.
