Well, the iron throne episode showcased him from being desolate and broken to his emotional conversation with Jon to his brilliant monologue.
@SirTownsy96 Martin had a special way of writing in characterization with his characters. Writing does not compare. But oddly, I think d&d did put effort into Tyrion's and Varys's dialogue- although only up to the capability. Tyrion season 1 to 4 had great dialogues . Even Lena had good ones too

His character is pivotal but there were others who had better performances.
Peter Dinklage is an amazing actor but held back by the materials he had to work with for season 8.
Heck Nikolaj did better. Jonathan Banks should've won it though.
He carried the finale. He is very well deserving of it. Nic and Alfie are good actors but in consideration of character importance and airtime and the finale, Dinklage is the deserving one for that trophy

I felt so many emotions about Theon, I hated him, i felt bad for him, I didn’t care about him, I loved and I i still love him. Alfie deserves this Emmy.
am i the only one thinking its stupid that they keep giving him awards for playing the same role? i mean, its like giving a musician 4 awards for remaking the same song every year. they should have a rule, that if you win, you cant be nominated for the same show again for the next 2 awards or something like that.
Yeah , i like that peter won the award his performance was amazing but there should be chance for other people too .
@@mg-cx5tv thats precisely my point. he definitely deserves an award for that role, but not four. especially since there are tons of other people (and series !) that would deserve one.
alfie allen and nikolaj coster-waldau never got awarded for their roles, although they had great performances.
and like most people i feel like this season doesnt deserve an award at all. the individual performances of the actors and all the people behind the scenes was great, but the writing was just brainless.

the story went down-hill after DnD started writing it. they just kept repeating the same tropes, without doing any actual character development. most of the characters plans and decisions were stupid (like the whole "plan" to defend winterfell, although they already knew that they had to bait the night king with bran to actually succeed). travel speeds made no sense whatsoever (just look at when the different characters leave winterfell in s8e4, how they travel and when they arrive at kings landing in the next episode; there are countless other examples over the last few seasons if you think about it). and most of the "plot twists" are just people being surprised by the most obvious attacks/schemes (like danys fleet losing a battle at sea for like the third time, although there was literally no point for her to travel by ship in the first place, since they were just gonna wait for the others traveling by land anyway) or ridiculous ex-machina moments (arya jumping at the night king out of thin air with the whole godswood full of his servants). and the end (ie everything after daenerys death) might be the worst i have ever seen. why would grey worm assemble a council consisting of family members and friends of the person who killed his queen. and why would dorne and the iron islands accept bran as their king? they both wanted independence from the iron throne, this would be the perfect opportunity to get it. and honestly, why would any of the southern lords want a new king to kneel to, especially one from the north, who is like a living surveillance/mindcontrol machine? the iron throne is literally destroyed and the last targaryen does not want to rule, so why find a new master to serve? i mean, maybe they actually were mind controlled by bran, because thats like the only sensible explanation for their behaviour. and sam as grandmaester? after studying not even a year? maesters are like doctors/professors, he is merely an ambitious bachelor student. and bronn as master of coin? does he even know how to do any math beyond simple addition?

And yeah all these ques about last 2 seasons are obvious and came in my mind too specially that why the hell others accepted the domain of bran when sansa choose independent north . They could have asked for same , that was senseless . Another thing is arya killed night king and no white walker even attacked her , they made white walkers a joke . In my opinion jon should have killed night king because from previous season it looks like this when night king saw jon fighting in hardhome , i was damn sure that jon will going to kill night king but they ruined it . When his real parents reveal i thought he would going to be the king but .... What was the point of keep his reality a secret if it will not going to affect anything . I hate that they ruined so many characters for nothing like jon and tyrion specially and somewhere arya too . In last two seasons they just made a haste with the show there was no character development anymore which is speciality of GOT . Till s6 dany was actually a queen who used to think about her people too but from s7 to 8 she was just mad about throne . I hate wht they did to her she was my fav , even if they want to show her character going mad they could have show with something brilliant writing it would be justified then .
@@mg-cx5tv i am actually fine with arya killing the night king, just not the way they did it. i think there should have been a real duel between jon and the night king, not just jon vs undead servants. and then jon gets defeated/cornered and arya can sweep in to safe him. or maybe the night king just leaves jon to die (he could be saved later if you want him to survive), but the duel gave arya the time to set up a trap in the godswood or something like that. or maybe they should have made a coherent plan on how to kill the night king beforehand. i mean, those are just a few ideas, there are hundreds of possibilities to make this battle more interesting. another way would be that instead of just killing the night king, they have to kill all the white walkers, then all the main characters could have fought and defeated a different one.
and yeah, i think they butchered danys character (i get why emilia cried after reading it xD), she used violence before, but only against those who actively opposed her. the tarlys chose their death, they could have just bend the knee and kept their life, lands and titles (and even be made paragon of the reach), but they chose pride (thats why they call it a deadly sin). and even that didnt make any sense, randyll tarly fought for aerys targaryen during roberts rebellion, why would he not swear fealty to his lawful heir? anyways, there is no way she would just butcher innocent people for absolutely no reason. i mean, even her father only tried to burn down the city because he knew that he would lose it anyway.

I liked Alfie but how was he better than Dinklage? Alfie had a few stand out scenes that were mostly limited to the long night battle. Dinklage was the one with the heavy monologues and has been carrying this entire show. Tyrion is one of the most iconic television characters ever produced. Call it a swan song but Peter deserved it. On the other hand if yall want to talk snubs Lena, Maisie, all the women of GOT have been robbed for years including this year.
Alfie should have been nominated for season 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 because he had really scenes and more than 5min of screen time. He would have won an Emmy award, but sadly, he was nominated only for the season where he did not have long scenes... His acting in season 2 was brilliant.

But if you honestly think Alfie Allens performance was anything but goddamn breathtaking in S8 i dont know what to tell you. Either you dont know what good acting truly is, you didnt watch s8, or youre just incredibly biased towards BCS. Especially considering Banks has been nominated for his work numerous times, and Alfie has been consistently amazing with only ONE nomination.
Also, just saying "Banks has so much to do emotionally" as an argument is incredibly weak. Obviously Banks is great, or else he wouldnt have been nominated.

If I personally look back on the performances in previous seasons of got (ex; s4 & s3) it’s an ensemble of actors, however they all stand out for me, including Alfie Alan. Yes their performances are great but the writing is what allows them to shine. If you have shit writing the performance is automatically weaker.
If I look back on got s8, yes his acting was good but I can’t really remember much about it due to nothing substantial being giving to him. Jonathan banks on the other hand, is not just great at playing the badass grandpa, but great at doing scenes that require subtle emotion and heavy emotion as I’m sure you would agree.
He’s given so much to chew on as an actor and he does it perfectly

Alfie Allen does deserve a win considering how he was able to make us go from liking/tolerating Theon to hating him to feeling sorry for him to liking him again.
But the show would be nothing without Peter. And it’s great that he’s recognized for it even if he was constantly only nominated for “best SUPPORTING”.
