INTRODUCTION
I'm Clement, nice to meet you! I have a passion for Indie Games due to how fun, creative and OUT OF THIS WORLD they can be, so this channel helps get the word out on the Best Indie Games.
Feel free to get in touch via Twitter / email for comments, requests or just to make a human connection and I'll do my best to get back to you.

#BestIndieGames #indiegames #ClemmyGames - Ігри
I really like the way your videos are structured: basically no intro at all and VERY short breakdowns of each game with no nonsense. Perfect.
Pizza Tower and Dave the Diver have both been beyond exceptional. I liked Dredge too, but that one only met my expectations. The first two I didn't know what I was getting into and the surprise from both was incredible.
Right? so good
Dave the diver and dredge got both a well deserved success for a new format of a mashup safe mechanics and almost most people found in them a side they liked, that's how you don't need to work hard as to find a new never seen game but work smart and enjoy the ride, I can see in both of them that their devs were proud and had fun making those games and they were heavily rewarded for their passion 👍👍
I love that the Space for The Unbound is getting more love as ever. Thanks for making this list!
true
My pleasure!
I hope the second half of 2023 is better for you. Thanks for all your content! It means a lot.
Hey It's Quest Mode! I like your stuff, thanks for the well wishes
I'm glad Dave the Diver took the #1 spot. I've been playing since it released on early access, and while I think there are some areas that definitely need to be improved, it's a great game.
Lack of accessibility options for the QTEs is probably the worst.
The only other major complaint is that the diving inventory doesn't stack identical items, which is completely baffling. You can quite literally have to scroll through several hundred items to discard the thing that just got automatically picked up, so you're not over encumbered.
yeah smashing buttons / rotating the sticks is not that great an experience (especially when you don't know what's coming)
@@ClemmyGames You do know what is coming actually,
shock harpoon gives you left stick left / right spam
poison harpoon gives you clock/counterclock wise rotation
regular/enhanced harpoon gives you button spam
frost one i dont know since I never used it lol
flame one same as above
shark attacks give you always the circle (ps controller) prompt and then cross (ps controller)
flat nosed shark always gives you cross (ps controller) prompt
probably more, but just the ones I remember off the top of my head, point is they're always the same, except the 3 different button inputs to catch hypothermal vent fish
I was hoping to see Dredge in your list as I'm currently playing through it. I'm not a fan of farming/fishing/etc type games but I just can't get enough of Dredge - I absolutely love the unknown/semi-horror/Lovecraft aspects of it.
YESSSSS
Well here’s to this year being better. Always love your videos.
Thanks for the support
Thank you for another great video. I really enjoyed Wartales when I played it in its early access stage. I normally don't pick up early access games, but that game looked so good that I made an exception. Dredge is the kind of game that's not normally my cup of tea, but it was interesting enough for me to pick up and I ended up really enjoying it. It's a nice, chill game.
I'm intrigued by The Last Spell and will definitely check it out.
Thanks for watching!
Real solid list! Added some to my wishlist.
Shadows of Doubt is one of the top games to look forward to this year imo even with the proc gen bugs of some runs being too random. Just a great and engrossing idea to have a murder mystery voxel proc gen each time giving freedom solve it how you will and providing sandboxy replayability. If dropping heavy objects onto people walking below is possible it might add a "fresh" if unconventional way to stop the S-killer... !
Wartales has to be up there. Like DnD with the computer doing some of the GM heavy-lifting.
Battlebit Remastered has been lurking for years iirc under the radar and is now prime time: I can see why! Putting fun into shooters before realism.
Shadows of doubt is pretty cleverly made for sure.
Afterimage is both my metroidvania of the year and game of the year 2023 - such a beautiful well designed game !
Interesting pick
The Action Platformer games on this list looks incredible. Great work Bro ❤❤❤
thanks!
Im playing halls of torment, and it's really good if you like that sort of thing. Sure, it's a survivors game, but it feels like it moves the genre instead of just being a clone.
good game
I basically just get my game recommendations from you. thanks man
great best of half of 2023 indie game video
good games but personally still waiting for gestalt and last faith.
hope they are good
Cassette Beasts, Bramble, Crab Champions, Spin Rhythm, Glimmer in Mirror, Benedict Fox are my picks so far. Dave the Diver does look neat. I really want to still like Have a Nice Death but I did not like what they did with the final update at all actually. RNG is so bad for prismiums now, they made the game 1 stage shorter too. I liked playing the extra stage and bosses. I had 350 hours almost in that game since early access. Played 4 runs since the final update. It just is not the same anymore when I never get a single prismium during a run. 4 runs with zero prismiums in a row will make you not want to turn it on again, i mentioned this too them but they don't seem to want to change it back.
Thanks for sharing. Yeah those games you mentioned are good as well!
@@ClemmyGames The Spin Rhythm Custom modded songs are amazing too, there is a lot of hard rock and prog metal, stuff I can not find in other rhythm games. There seems to be a big community for this game.
I'm sorry to hear you're having a hard year. My mom and I watch your videos together. I just thought you should know that it's something we enjoy together and maybe that will pick you up a bit.
Played 6 of the games here. My favorite is the last spell. Very addictive game with infinite replayability.
thanks for sharing
I hope your mental space is better before too long. You are wonderful x
thanks for the concern
Happy to see Dave the Diver at #1
Dredge is stoooopidly good. Such a unique game that I wasn’t sure I’d like, but man this got it hooks in me. No pun intended.
Dredge, The Last Spell, Shadows of Doubt and A Space for the Unbound are very good.
hell yeah
Dredge was such a blast to play❤
Have you checked out Siren Bone Totem yet Clemmy? Finally got around to playing the first one and am thoroughly enjoying it.
I have not, but the original is great!
Turbo Overkill is my Indie (possibly my straight up) game of the year. It's gonna be damn near impossible to beat that game. So much fun!!
Good list.
Dave the Diver is my no. 1 game of the year!
It is a must buy for everyone...
Good game
I don't think I got another metroidvania playthrough in me yall...
I can't wait for Blasphemous 2.The first game was phenomenal!!!
You should really check out "Death in the water 2" - Developed by only two people, the game is quite amazing and immersive!
Don't know what's going on in your life but keep your chin up kid, life's been tuff for most people nowadays including myself. I know how hard it can be and I know there's always awesome games to make me feel better. Keep up the awesome content buddy!
Thank you for the kind words of encouragement. No one specific thing but the weight of the world feels heavy
Wartales is fantastic and very fun in coop too.
yeah!
i vote Dredge as the best so far but i havent played a few of these yet. Great games this year.
yeah! 2023 is fantastic!
Spiritfall looks so cool.
Hopefully it comes to Switch.
Surprising space for the unbound getting recognition.. That game got overwhelmingly positive review but only few people play it even in indie game community..
My favorite in the list is The Last Spell
Pizza tower should've been ranked slightly higher but overall, very good video!
Dave the Diver thus far.
Thronefall honorable mention.
Why is Pizza Tower not in the top 3? The game is an instant classic
👀
don't expect everyone to share your tastes. pizza tower is a very niche game, even if it is amazing.
@@Sirdud2SickK Should we give so much weight to mass appeal when judging a game's value?
Strawberry Jam is my #1. I don't care that it's a mod. Pizza Tower is #2
fair enough
luck be a landlord is so addicting and fun, great game to pick upa nd put down whenbever
Hey man! Give us the top hidden gems in the steam sale!!! Great wok as always.
@@Darkal_ Crosscode isn't a hidden gem, the game is quite popular among people who play indies, but it's still a strong recommendation if you've never played it, especially with the New Home dlc, one of the best expansion I've ever played.
I'd personally *very* much recommend Clash: Artifacts of Chaos. Solid combat system where you can find and "equip" and changedifferent combat stances and special attacks, good characters, and *fantastic* world and music. It's kinda prehistoric and full of bizarre creatures, color, and generally a style all its own.
probably no more steam sale coverage since it's winding down already
@@Darkal_ Have you heard about the hidden gem Crosscode? It's so underrated and underappreciated just like many other indie hidden gems like A Hat in Time, Blasphemous or (insert any popular indie game here).
I love how every time someone talks about Darkest Dungeon 2 they say "different" because if it was actually good/better that's the word they'd use, but the fact they don't is saying the silent part out loud.
Wild you would put this game at #2 even in a midway list, unless the list isn't in order but I somehow doubt it considering the rest of the games at the top are actually good / some of the genuinely best this year.
Well put. I do like it though, but might see some shuffling around by the end of the year
Space for the unbound, dredge, and dave the diver
What was the game in the opener with the hard to kill lizard from SCP? the skull head lizard thing?
Bring some Pixel art survival games that is base building, craft with Hunger and Thirst maintaining
What is the name of the game with 2 mechs/armor suits versus 4 other on the right side with one character being named Glenn right near the start of the video?
Oblivion Override and Wildfrost are my top 1 and 1A this year so far.
Interesting!
personal note from me 😊 trý meditation (working with the inner powers)
thanks, never quite know how to do that
A good stock of games here
im pizza tower fast
😘
nice
im speaks excellent Engrish
@@83KJack too slow jack
I Hope ANTONBLAST Wins 2024's Indie GOTY and Pizza Tower 2023's. What bugs me is How OMORI Didn't Win 2020's Indie GOTY. Yeah Hades is cool and all, but you Can't compete with omori. And no i don't mind Genshin winning players Voice 2022. Though it's a 2020 game do It doente make Sense.
Dredge was great, but they dropped the ball on the ending. Darkest dungeon 2 is solid, but will inevitably be compared to the first entry which it unfortunately does not live up to. Pizza tower is the clear winner for indie GOTY so far. -- have a nice death is a good time too, but it feels a lot like other games I’ve played.
Thanks for sharing. Good points
@@ClemmyGames I feel very patronized lol. But I know you’re just going through all the comments and firing off a quickly reply, so I forgive you clem
can you please review more 3D indie games
Good fifthly video
fifthly ?
@@ClemmyGames just commenting
Why no The Bookwalker game, its amazing
make a list of slower games but the best ones? RPG, Puzzle, Adventure?: )
best of genre videos to come!
Dave the Diver is my indie game GOTY so far! Dredge the very close second. What a great year already!
Yay!
Whats the game right in the beginning of the video with the big monster on the left?
Chained echoes
@@ClemmyGames thanks!
Los 3 mejores para ganar indie del año son: Dredge, Pizza Tower y Dave the Diver. En ese orden
Chained Echoes was top of my list...
2022 release
games i liked are15,12,10,9,8,3,2,1
PLEASE tell me Dredge is on here
edit: 10:37 YEEESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
of course!
@@ClemmyGames LOVE that game
The last spell is addictive but unforgivingly hard. The reason why I uninstalled the game is that the runs are very long for a rogue-like title.
fair enough
Long runs in rogue like games is now making me to quit those games. Developers should find a way or may be I don't know about short run rogue games.
best indie game of 2023 is obviously PIZZA TOWER in my opinion
I want Steam bad! But I dont know the 1st thing about PC gaming and dont have the money to get a good PC. But i see soo many cool games thats only avaliable on Steam
Good thing about indies is that they can generally run on a lower spec machine!
Not only fancy art makes a game great. DD2 is far from a good game. Have you ever consider what makes a roguelike game fun? The core is beat same level with different build. In DD2 you have no choice but use the same character to die again and agian to unlock the ability. The build is mainly focused on character's skill. So on a run there no much to build with. While other roguelike focus on the item. You get different random item that can completely change the way you play, which makes each run unique. If red hook really want player focus on heros, they should make a rpg not roguelike.
Pizza Tower is just straight GOTY. Not just indie GOTY.
Pizza Tower for the win! What a beautiful, fun game!
mmhmm
Oblivion Override is, hands down, the best Roguelite I've played since Dead Cells and Revita. Been enjoying the heck out of it.
I second this. With the variety of weapons and upgrades it offers, there are so many build possibilities, it feels pretty fresh every run. And it actually gives the player control over the progression, allowing actual builds instead of whatever the RNG hits you with.
right? Underrated all things considered
what is the game that appears in the first second? 0:00
chained echoes, check it out in the GOTY video
For now my indie goty of 2023 is astral ascent, it's also easily in my top 10 of all games.
Spiritfall and oblivion override got my attention.
I played Wildfrost and Dreadge. I hated Wildfrost, the randomness is just unbearable, it was already bothering me in slay the spire but here it is 10times worse. I played two sessions of dreadge for a total of like 4 hours, I have no drive to come back to the game, the gameplay is too simple and the instant death at night feels so cheap.
ok
No Cassette Beasts? No Afterimage?
hmmmm
Pizza tower must be a #1
Indie goty this year
Dtd & dredge ❤
yeah! Fishing games ftw
Love 💕
Darkest Dungeon 2
No metroidvanias? Really? Doomblade was pretty cool, afterimage is huge, and lone fungus is smooth.
Sands of Aura would by my pick so far.
Also Dave the Diver is not exactly indie, its made by subsidiary of Nexon
BATTLEBIT IN 6 POSITION.
No "9 years of shadows"???😢
Dave the Diver is brilliant. I was debating between a few titans (Slay the Spire, Return of Obra Dinn, and Omori), and I couldn't help but gravitate towards Dave. It certainly lived up to the reviews in the short time I have been playing it.
Interesting, in what context? On what game to play next?
@@ClemmyGames I have a huge back log (totk, end of death stranding, Witcher 3 blood & wine, and more). Just wanted to grab a title for my Steam Deck because I can't help myself. I will grab those other names down the road though just need to get caught up on this backlog lol
Great video, the audio is unbearable. Sorry
Peppino Pizza
heh
not a single metroidvania on the list? man, I do hope we'll get some decent new releases in the 2nd half of the year, 2022 was already pretty weak in terms of metroidvanias (since the most anticipated ones kinda flopped)
Blasphemous 2 is coming out in August and will probably be the best metroidvania of 2023. Also, Vernal Edge got an amazing critical reception, it's one of the top rated games on Opencritic this year. If you trust the critics, it's a good bet, although I haven't played it and doesn't look that great to me either.
Guess we can hope "Gestalt - Steam and Cinder" will be the metroidvania we're waiting for. "Akatori" is another contender, but I am beginning to doubt it'll come out in 2023.
Try Afterimage. It's a mix of HK, Ori, and Ender Lilies with the largest map I've ever seen. Writing's a little weak and backtracking isn't super rewarding, but it hits on everything else.
Hopefully Blasphemous 2 and The Last Faith will deliver
@RoadKamelot2nd Akatori is not likely to be a 2023 release
What are the games on intro?
Chained Echoes, Prodeus, Nobody Saves the World and ANNO: Mutationem respectively
