I love it that you mentioned The Pedal Zone. I bought the Mercury 7 and the Polymoon from the inspiration I got from that channel. I am loving seeing you come from a completely different angle yet implementing these amazing atmospheric pedals. Sounds AMAZING.
I don’t play saxophone- but I wish I could’ve worked with someone like you in a band- very self driven here. Also, using the Rainbow Machine AND the Microcosm is insane in a live setting - like Homer trying to do the bicycle stunt for Fat Tony insane. I’m very impressed- Cheers 🎉
Thx, super helpful as I am only starting to check effects for exactly the same context you describe. Thx a lot and really nice music you write & perform
I need your advice....i have a bunch of delay and reverb pedals....the dispatch master, afterneath, earthquaker devices transmisser. How do i hook up my saxophone to my audio interface to my pedals using my plug socket for multiple pedals into my laptop into logic pro x for recording? I would really appreciate it if you could help me out with that.
Cool. Thanks for sharing some tips on how to use the pedals that you (and others like Emily the harp lady) inspired me to buy. ;) Though my purpose is different from yours, I've learned a few things. Sax is my secondary instrument, synths come first. But I now have almost the exact same pedals on one of my boards - except the Microcosm. I use the Empress Reverb instead. Note to self: should try the Polymoon at the end of the chain, and watch this and Pedal Guy again. BTW, the strings work really well with this setup imo (Bandcamp album track 1). And I don't find this gimmicky at all.
@@studbagl Pleasure. Waiting for Bandcamp Fridays. You have obviously started this a long time ago and been doing it for a while. I've just uploaded my first song - without any pedals or acoustics - but some sax samples. Next time I will use hardware. For me it is a post-retirement hobby after a long career in something else. But I have always had progessive tastes in music :)
Thanks for all your amazing videos. Do yo know the Intramic by Vigamusictools ? It’s a great microphone that allows you to use all pedals without all feedback problems. Both dry and wet sound are really great ! Distortions and fuzz (for example) become possible in a live context
Yes! I have been researching a lot about it. Certainly unique. The only things that have been keeping me from buying is that the tone is not as accurate a representation of your sound as regular mics because of how it mics from inside the mouthpiece/neck. The other is that living in the US, the only way you can get it is through HornFX and they charge an extra $300 for it compared if you get it directly from the French Manufacturer which has also been a barrier for me.
@@studbagl I understand your concerns but honestly for me the Intramic is the closest sound from my natural sound I get. I think you could get it directly from Victor Egea on VigaMusictools, it will be cheeper … I use it in every occasion (natural or with fx) except in a horn section ;-)
Very interesting demonstration. I had asked my instructor about using guitar effects pedals. I do enjoy listening to chorus, reverb , echo and double effects. What brand(s)do you recommend if I enter into this style of playing(if a band doesn’t mind)?
To tackle basic ambience, I 100% recommend the Avalanche Run by Earthquaker Devices. Super easy to use, sounds amazing for reverb/delay and can even use it as a micro looper. Not sure what you mean by double effects, but honestly, the Rainbow Machine (pink pedal in this video) can work as a beautiful chorus with the benefit of that other fun stuff; just check out The PedalZone’s review of it (Stefan I’d a genius). There are lots of other good choruses too but chorus is tricky with an instrument like saxophone because you’ll always hear the acoustic tone over the effected tone. I am not sure what a double effect is
Really nice and useful vídeo youtube recommended me. Do you use these pedals with foot during a live session or do you manage to use them on a table when on stage?
Hi sir it’s amazing watching your videos I am a trumpet player and i always love adding something different to my trumpet playing..I would love to meet you in person.
I'm really new to all this, so I don't know a lot about it. But I was wondering if you can use just the Polymoon without a pedal board. That I, for example, first only buy the Polymoon pedal to try.
@@sarahgroeneveld8407 I see. Yeah so I made a video using only the polymoon about a year and a half ago, but plan to make a video about single pedals in the near future
@@studbagl Thanks, I will search for that video! I only watched this one so far.. but I will definitely watch more of your video’s! Thanks for the information :)
Yes I have looked into it but I have a few things about it. It kinda changes your tone and it shallower and not as accurate a reputation as a regular microphone. Obviously, the benefits of it are amazing but the tone thing has kept it at bay for me
Yeah I get that, I agree that pedals can become gimmicky; I.e. wah and octave pedals. I chose these effects because they fit each of the songs for very brief moments where most of the songs I don’t even use them. But they help convey feelings/moods for the songs. The rainbow machine/reverb helps set up a mysterious, misty setting, the 5th up glide represents knock-up stream in one piece where they are sailing up into the sky and so on.
The "in context" of the Rainbow machine is really really cool! Amazing texture.
Thank you for listening!

Stefan is the best! Wouldn’t be anywhere today without that channel
Finding your album from a demo video was very unexpected but I’m super glad about it
Thank you!

Great demonstration on all these pedals and how you use them with your sax! Nice music. Thanks.
great vid. Love 'in context" parts
Thank you!! I feel like it was important to add the in context parts to totally hear the idea in full form. Glad you enjoyed!
Thank you so much, great video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for this. I’ve been working with my effects pedal to find a good sound. You great with the choice of sound in your music.. thanks
Really really really nice advices on this video! Very useful for me!!!!

@@studbagl Double effect that electric guitarists use. I had just discovered this last week. I never thought that it was possible.

Foot! Expression pedal with foot is main reason why. Thank you!

Adrian Terrazas-Gonzales absolutely killed it with Mars Volta 2005-2008, check him out!!
I have the boss Ve20 which i use but i think i need more from you to get better
Thank you for sharing this! Is it possible to use the Polymoon by itself without all the other pedals?
Of course, I did that in this video when I featured it. Did you mean a separate polymoon solo video?

Can we use the same effects for accordion?👀
I am sure!
Why no Avalanche Run?
Still use it! I use Polymoon as my main delay because of the stereo width as well the cool subdivisions and wealth of modulation options it has.
You like Mark Turner?
Yes I do!
@@studbagl I thought you had a similar concept of sound to him, that's why I asked :) Btw, thanks for this very informative video!
I would really love to keep in touch with you
Too much talk & not enough demo 🙁
That octave pedal must leave your board. It doesnt track sax
Personally I think they are gimmicky. I’d rather have just heard your lovely tone. They never do the sound many favours.
Reverb and delay. That’s it.

Yes I agree. Most other effects make a fine instrument sound like a kazoo.
sorry but all i can hear is $$$$$$$$
How do you mean?
