H/H match update: ... Today's action: Our champion easily wins her second game. Today's audience match question: " Head of_________ " (My thoughts: the class, state, the household) The celebs: Brett (State), Richard (Lettuce), and Betty (the House) The choice: The House (Betty's reaction is priceless when the contest chooses her suggestion.) The answers: Lettuce, State, The House ("I don't believe it," says Betty. I was shocked too. I remember playing the board game "Go to the Head of the Class" as a kid and really thought that expression would wind up on the list.) Our champ chose Richard last time and scored a match. I'd say there's a possibility she would go with Betty today, but I wouldn't bet on it... Richard takes pen in hand for his 12th consecutive shot at the head-to-head. He's matched four times so far in that string of 12. Today's H/H question: "Children's _______ " (My first thought is that this is a hard one today. Children's stories is my first thought, but why not books, clothes, toys, games, bedtime, show, etc? ) The camera lingers on Gene for a few seconds. Cut to Richard who's already writing. He files his card without any apparent doubts or hesitation. The contestant doesn't look like she has an answer she's happy with. The way she's smiling leads me to believe she's accepted the fact she won't win today... Indeed. "The only thing I could think of was children's workshop," she says. It sounds like an unlikely (but not impossible) match. There just seem to be so many more common choices... The audience was uncharacteristically subdued. Gene says he couldn't think of a single answer, confirming my judgement that this was an especially hard question. I can't wait to see what Richard came up with so quickly. "Hour." I love watching Richard casually smoke a cigarette. On television. I don't even know when they stopped letting that happen. I barely remember being able to smoke in bars.

Don't know about others, but I know my feet stink if I wear shoes without socks. Sandals or bare feet when there is some air circulation, OK, but shoes without socks is a disaster. Especially those leather shoes Soupy had on. Not to mention the shafing of ankles that would hurt the person himself or herself.

I love the colorful shirts/tops that Madlyn, Charles, Richard and Betty are wearing--beautiful!
