I spent a lot of time as an FC leader of an FC that's whole purpose was to help sprouts. People would leave and move on to other guilds, but I got a lot of enjoyment out of specifically helping sprouts. It's nice being able to experience everything again through the sprouts. You meet a lot of great people as well. One of the main ways I would get new people is by doing those low level dungeons with them.
I remember something like this, 5 years ago. I was in EU server that time, in Shiva world. A friend, male elezen was hooked up to a female elezen. Wedding in game was great, congratulated them. 2 weeks later, I bumped into one of his friends, we caught up. He told me did u hear what happened to them, I said no, turned out, the female elezen wasn't a girl irl, male elezen was so crushed, he gave up ff14.

Because at some point, as much as you want to lend a helping hand, you cannot realistically be their solution to their problems. They have to find it on their own. I hope Sylvia is able to find safe help in whatever form they can find.

It isn't too bad if you keep them up to cap at each expansion. I have used go have 4 all at cap (even gathering/crafting.) Even with busy life right now, I have 2 100% done, 1 with just some crafting needed and 1 with just melee/crafting/gathering needed.
