Good job finding them for 35 Euro! Both are fun to use. I personally love manual focus, it gives me the satisfaction to create my image. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do. If you have a chance to share your pictures please do.

Thanks so much for this review, very well done. The lab test reveals how poor the corner performance of the 7Artisans really is... Low contrast may be fixed in post but unwanted blurring is just dead space.

Thank you. Lots of "Reviews" about these lenses, but they are all about the "feeling" you have with a manual lens. No one bothered to do test photos to show the image quality.

Thank you for this great review. I am amazed at how well these lenses both perform under 'normal' shooting conditions. I have the Pergear and I am quite happy with it, but after seeing your review, I think I would prefer the better contrast of the 7Artisans - tough choice I think.

A nice comparison. I have the 25 F1.8 Pergear and was pleasantly surprised by how good it was for the cost. I think if you are budget conscious and need a good lens to get you started either one would be a fine choice although I prefer the Pergear.

I have the Pergear 35 mm F1.2 and I just love the low contrast it generates, in fact looks like my XF 33mm F1.4 with black pro mist filter. And I just came to this video to check if the Pergear 25 mm F1.8 would be well paired with the Pergear 35 mm in terms of image consistency.

2:58 and f/8, 7 Artisans has a much sharper image. But does anyone shoot at f8? At 3:31 the focus on the Pergear seems AWFUL- but didn't you say at f/1.8 the Pergear was a bit sharper? So was this a Focus issue or a sharpness issue? I hope you are taking multiple shots and picking the sharpest for each lens. You say the Pergear is sharper but I wonder if you have motion or focus issues. At 5:22 the 7Artisans is FAR sharper. The Bike seat pic was the opposite, with Pergear seeming sharper. I also think the car headlight showed 7Artisans as sharper. But 5:22 7 Artisans was again far clearer- which makes me think there were motion issues with the flower shots- even a small breeze makes the flowers move. They are not good for such tests. 6:08 hard to make a fair comparison because the image on the left was cloudier while the one on the right had more direct sunlight. Nice call on Bokeh shape.
I LOVE the idea of this comparison. However I think you need another round, with more careful controls over motion, lighting and triple-check that focus. Also, it would be fun to see what happens if you compare your two PerGear lenses! I also wonder: which lens is *really* 25mm wide?

Thanks for a most informative and well produced review.
With the range of low cost lenses from China now it is becoming rather confusing. It would be interesting to know if both Pergear lenses performed the same as I wonder how good quality control is with the lenses from China.
    I'm an Olympus user and have Meike 35mm f1.4, the 7 Artisans 55mm f1.4 and the Kamlan 50mm f1.1 Mk 1.
The Meike and 7Artisans lenses perform like analogue lenses (no surprise) with the Meike being the sharper of the 2 and providing lovely colours. Both are good value. The Kamlan is a fun lens but the performance isn't that good. I believe that the Mk2 is much better.

Thanks for the great review! For quite some time I've been looking to get some nice little camera for street photo and ended up replacing my Canon 50d for a Fuji x-e1 cause the 50d was just too chonky for my street photo workflow. Thanks to your review I decided to get the 7 Artisans 25mm f1.8 and I couldn't be happier. I have the 7Artisans and what drives me crazy is that distances printed on the focusing ring are way WAY WAY!! off. If you set the lens at 4 feet by the scale it is in focus at 2 feet. Whoever did the calculations for where to print those numbers on the focusing ring must have been figuring for a completely different focal length. The depth of field scale is also pure fiction. For us old timers who used to do street photography from the hip by presetting focus from the scale it is a big deal that 7Artisans did not spend the time to get this right.
