Nice. It reminds me of a book i had as a kid by Joe Citro called Ghosts Ghouls and Unsolved Mysteries, a collection of spooky Vermont folktales and ghost stories.
The reading you did was very nice. Great setting and energy. English when done well is such a loaded language, there is so much that can be implied, hinted, suggested. Really nice.
I actually screw up 'now' with 'not', lol. It was a one take reading with an attempt at a half proper British accent ending in Brooklynese. But thanks anyway, lol! English indeed has alot of depth and poetry to it, thanks to Shakespeare and his Crew!!
That is a beautiful looking book, my friend. I love seeking out those more obscure, turn of the century writers who dabbled in scary stuff at Christmastime. Don't get me wrong, I love A Christmas Carol (and love those two versions you mentioned on film too) but I'm always on the lookout for more. There's a publisher here in Southern Ontario that releases little paperback Victorian novellas every December as stocking stuffers...we've picked up a few, they have a real authentic charm to them. I hope you're having a really nice Yule, my friend!
What is the book chain in Canada? There were a lot of these 19th century Ghost stories from authors I never heard of just in this, get your hands on it. I am definitely an Anglophile at least up to the end of the Edwardian Summer in 1914... Merry Christmas and Happy Kwanzaa to you!!
@inthesegoingsdown they're an indie publisher called Biblioasis. They have a line of small titles called The Haunted Bookshelf. Online ordering type thing, although they may have placement in some smaller bookstores too.
That fuckin Mariah Carey is probably one of the worst Christmas songs ever...that meme making funof that songwith Brett Hart and Macho Man hits hard!!! To me December is the True Horror ala Poe and The Raven.

Yeah much of the best literature from the past is going into the PD...nearly anyone can publish these collections now.
A fan of Belgian ale I see. Since the “craft beer revolution” it has been harder and harder for me to find easily. It has also gotten darn expensive.
@uncouthboy8028 yeah, just for Christmas...stuff got wayyy too expensive!
Dark Christmas is so much more appealing than Santa and Mariah Carey cheery stuff.

@@inthesegoingsdown fkng A. December is now officially October but nightmare mode. Halloween for the hardcore.
