We're transforming this 90 acre property into a self reliant homestead and farm stay vacation rental. We're building infrastructure to accomodate future growth such as barns, duck house, 7 coop chicken house, water hydrants, planting an orchard, building a garden etc. Chickens, ducks, geese, mini pigs, rabbits, a bunch of barn cats and two old english sheepdogs make up our team here at the farm. There is something so relaxing about just watching animals go about their business, ducks swimming in ponds, just being themselves. Seeing their personalities and habits...that's just so special. Thank you so much for sharing. 😊

regarding the dust etc on your wire , i get a spray bottle and lightly damp the dust and then just get a brush and go over it .....i love your dogs and to see them jump over the fence is fab x

I was putting astro turf on the walkways. The only thing sprouting right now here in Southern New Jersey, US, are my white potatoes. Going to start planting the rest soon
I laughed how the pigs love to stay dirty. The dad is just letting the baby pigs know the rules. All the animals are such a joy to see. I think the shirts and all will go great for you. I liked all of them lol. The pond is beautiful. ❤😊

I just got notification of your video a few hours ago so I'm late to the party! Another fun day at the farm! Billy is looking so good. It's great when a plan comes together. Moving the pigs turned out not to be too difficult.
Yes, you never know with pigs but it was definitely easy that day. Billie has pretty much regained all the weight she lost from nursing her babies.

I was going to suggest that you get a pool net so you could drag the bottom of the pond to get the big stuff that the filter can’t handle,,, GMTA… 😂 your pond is looking really nice… you did such a great job!
The water is turning green already from an algae bloom
@@HiddenSpringFarm OI VEY!!! That’s not good!!! I never even thought you would get an algae bloom problem up there in Canada this time of the year! I didn’t think the water would be warm enough yet!… but now that I think about it, you did use that thick, black, plastic liner and that bugger will not only attract heat, but retain it too… sooooo…. You should get yourself a couple of Plecostomus (sucker mouth catfish)… they love algae and will keep your pond clean… just don’t use chemicals in the water… to keep the Reese from eating them, you might need to put some of hose large rocks on the bottom as well a some dead wood so they can hide from the geese… when the fowl comes, they will hide and when they leave, they will do their job and clean clean clean…
Heavens you can't plant till the middle of May! You may need to build your wife a hoop house to extend the growing season. It just might give you 2-3 weeks on each end of your growing time. Especially useful for the cool season crops if you like greens & things.
I have a cool looking greenhouse design in my head. Don’t know when but one day I’ll build it.

You mentioned that you didn't really want to expend a lot of $$$ on fencing just to protect new grass seed ... but you might as well go ahead and get fencing, especially if there should be a good deal on it!
Let's face it ~ you will always need fencing for repair work or holding in a critter that just showed up & it needs to be kept separate from your guys
for guaranteeing purposes !! And the list will go on😳 So if you see a good deal, go for it!! If you need fencing, you need it, so never let a good deal slip through your fingers 👍👌🤔😉
Agreed, I ordered some poultry fencing a few days ago. I was thinking the same thing, I use it for something at some point for sure 😁

Oh thanks for joining us and welcome to the farm. Yes my Darlin is a Filipina from Laguna originally although she’s been here in Canada for a long time. We’ve been married almost 30 years now and I’ve been to the Philippines probably over 20 times. She always likes to grow those Asian type veggies that she loves. Fun times. Salamat eh.

Hey Chad, I've never commented on anything on UA-cam before. I really like your content, I would buy one of your shirts if it just had Hidden Spring Farm, no cats or dogs. It's not that I don't like cats or dogs, I would just like a plain shirt that supports your farm. I think other guys out there might like that also, just an idea you might want to try.

You mentioned in a recent video that you're in Horseshoe Valley, Ontario. That sounded familiar, so I looked it up.
Turns out you are close to the Horseshoe Resort where I honeymooned with wifey in the summer of 2004.
It had a different name back then.
We drove up there from Southern Maryland (south of DC). Small world EH?
Totally, we’re just down the road from the resort. We always get farm stay guests of people coming up to ski.
For the landscaping, I would plant the seeds, then get a piece of fabric like a sheet, cover and fence the area so nobody bothers it😊😊😊😊❤❤❤

Could be. I was at the home depot today and 1 roll of sod is $9, awfully pricey… and I have a few big sacs of grass seed in the cat house so I’ll most likely try that. It’s the best place to keep the seed cause a mouse would need to have a death wish to mess with the cats 😂

I love seeing all of the animals on your farm. I regret selling our geese. We still have muskovy ducks and chickens. I will need to get some more geese and guinea fowl too! Great video! 🌱🌻

When is Bubbles going to enjoy outside life? boy oh boy, you had better finish what you started around the pond first. That liner will get moved without heavy stones, not stumps , on it. Make your life easier, put a brush attachment on the vacuum.
Hopefully this summer but I’m very uneasy about it. I’ve done a bit more work on the pond so it’s getting closer to completion.

They are very curious when there are no ducks or geese out there, otherwise they hunt elsewhere 😆

May I ask how many hours do you spend at the farm every day? And how do you manage to eat, you cook there or you bring some Tupperware with food from home?
Differs from day to day, depends on what I have going on at work. Some days I start at the farm, go to work & come back to the farm, Weekends I’m usually here long hours filming and doing other things to keep up with the farm. My Darlin packs me a lunch, could be a sandwich, could be hot food too cause I keep a small fridge & microwave in my workshop 😉

Haha it’s “Tulugan Na” and it means go to bed in Tagalog. I thought it’d be funny a few years ago to teach the ducks some Filipino in case I have a hard time to get them back in for the night.
Chad I have a feeling you may be overfeeding Billiy. I don't think she should be this fat unless you want to make bacon out of her. Is this healthy for her? I'm not a farmer all I know is from watching Utube, lol. I''m basing my comment on what I saw on another channel. Cog Hill farm had to take their pot belly pig, Peach, to the vet and then start à new feeding regime for her.
Of course they're down South where it's warm to hot most of the time. Their cold is our balmy,lol. So it your pigs may need all that fat to combat our Canadian Winters.
Could be, not sure. She is a pot bellied pig and should have a round belly. The pigs get only a scoop of mini pig chow everyday and whatever fruits or veg we have. I honestly don’t know if I’m feeding too much but you’re right that they do need more fat to help them deal with the cold. She’s gained back all the weight she lost from nursing her babies too so it may seem like she’s gaining weight but I think she’s ok.
