    Man this right here is close to my bread-and-butter. Why do you run Sigil of Agility over Celerity? IME Agility tends to give Quickness at weird times, whereas Celerity gives it immediately after (e.g.) Earth4. I tend to be in Air/Earth (as I go Fire->Earth for 3 for early stab->Air) which lets me Earth5 a quake with the celerity.
    If they stunbreak to escape the quake, I just cancel out of earth into air2 interrupt+closer -> air3 lift -> fire -> air5 knockdown -> fire 2 stunlock fast animation, all while quickness is still up!
    As for talents -- water first column damage on vulnerability is interesting. I typically grab Stop, Drop, & Roll if you don't take Primordial Stance, just because Antitoxin will kick off a 2nd cleanse on ANY condi if you had one of those two.
    I am a BIG fan of using Armor of Earth as my stun break in this build instead of Mist Form, as it lets me maintain aggression. Both it and Mist Form are cantrips. Why do you prefer Mist Form - mainly for retreating?
    Similar Q -- why tornado?

    • @SolemnGW2
      @SolemnGW2  2 роки тому

      Sigil of agility over celerity: I run this for the cleanse, with antitoxin it will cleanse for two conditions on attune, the extra 1-2s of quickness depending on boon duration is just nice to have for quick flame uprising and air 3 bursts. Celerity is undoubtedly good so I'd never say it's a bad choice but for this build you just get a little more bang for your buck/overall survivability by cleansing a bunch more conditions over time with agility. I also try to optimize my build for generalities and not specifics, if putting it in those terms even makes sense, so I'd always rather have greater uptime of something with lower duration rather than lower uptime with significantly higher duration. I like having everything accessible at a whim. That quickness CC combo sounds hilarious though lmao! Nice. My playstyle is just too conservative though I think. I usually reserve air 2 mostly to change direction/break targeting and if it stuns them it's a bonus, though I know I unconsciously use it for the stun at other times too
      The stop drop & roll trait proccing antitoxin is nice but I really already have so much cleanse accessible at any time, simply attuning to air twice via fresh air is an easy 4 cleanses or even 6 if you proc agility sigil while doing it. I rather the damage since this build tends to lack stopping power without CC (so I see why you prefer celerity)
      Mistform I use for stomps because I tend to get myself in 1v3 situations and trying to stomp a player is either futile or suicidal without mistform. Armour of earth instead of mistform I can definitely agree is a good choice for the reason you outlined - lets you maintain pressure, but considering that I almost never pop mistform in a fight anyway and it's often the very last thing I use just to stomp (or a panic button if I'm caught off-guard early on in the fight so that I can optimize cds and get usage out of it/note that I'd switch to conserving lightning flash to use as a psuedo-stunbreak in this event) I don't really have a use for armour of earth. I find that if I'm going to die on this build, protection won't save me, I'm just going down, most of the sustain just comes from evades and letting water attunes/heal signet regen health
      Tornado for a double cleanse + low cooldown elite that can be used as a mobility skill. Obviously it's a cc so I get some use out of that. But really I just would rather have a mobility skill that flips people over (that's a nice bonus) that gives me boons on a short cooldown as an elite rather than weaver buffs or extremely long cd core ele elites. Tornado form can't be CC'd so it's useful for situations where I can tank some health but know I'm about to get clobbered CC-wise as well. Can't go wrong with it. Wouldn't fault anyone at all for taking weaver elite instead but for this build I prefer tornado

    hi sole ty for video. how do u stick to enemy with weaver? i am struggling to stick and mostly kite by high mobility classes. and i feel like they evade all my attacks since sword has highly telegraphed attacks with 130 range mostly. struggling too much with sword.

    • @SolemnGW2
      @SolemnGW2  Рік тому

      It's just practice man. You get better by being bad for long enough that you become good x)
      On this build you shouldn't get kited very much, as you have fresh air access into air attunement and sword 2 is your best gap closer, being that it's on a short cooldown and easy to access. If most of your attacks are being evaded easily, then you need to be less predictable. Notice how in most of this video I really do just "stick" to the enemy and constantly am in range of them. I don't really have any way to help you do that part, but that's what you need to be doing on this build imo. It also tends to intimidate them and make them panic

      No worries on the exact gearing, as long as the stats are approximate it'll work. You can play around with the build template website using gear that you know you have/is more easily obtainable until the stats are similar

    • @SolemnGW2
      @SolemnGW2  2 роки тому +2

      Sometimes you just need a different build - Catalyst performs well vs soulbeast if thats the opponent, otherwise, CC/dodge/air5/water2/earth2 until youre able to put pressure on them and hope that you can put out enough to stop them from bursting. Really if earth shield isn't enough and you're playing at your best, then you just need catalyst, EoD and anet-favoured specs such as necro-anything, rev-anything, ranger-anything are overpowered

    Question:
    Why cele and not a mix of crusader and diviner (or sth in that direction)

    • @SolemnGW2
      @SolemnGW2  2 роки тому +3

      Celestial just gives so much bang for it's buck. I use celestial to reach thresholds for healing power, toughness, even boon dur/condi to some degree, the rest can be glassy without any need for sustain stats. Diviners and crusaders would be a good idea to mix in if I was avoiding cele entirely, but right now that wouldn't make as much sense as cele just gives you so much more

    Its only sometimes I find a skilled Harbinger/Necro player either in PvP or WvW that absolutely shreds me when I play Catalyst. Could be skill diff honestly. Or could it be the boon rip that they have which gives Ele/Catalyst a hard time?

    • @SolemnGW2
      @SolemnGW2  2 роки тому +1

      Corrupting stability into fear is hella annoying when playing cata vs a good harbinger. It's still possible to win but good harbingers are definitely as intimidating as they are rare xd

      Finally... Catalyst roaming video when??

    • @SolemnGW2
      @SolemnGW2  2 роки тому +1

      @@j.renriquez9464 Specter I don't have much experience fighting, at least not good ones, I almost want to say hammer fire arcane catalyst would be a good choice but they'll kite it so easily, D/D fire/air might be better. I can't really give a for-sure answer having little experience with that situation myself, but Catalyst would definitely put up a good fight as long as you're using antitoxin rune.
      And, my guy! I've been uploading lots of catalyst videos lately go check the recent uploads : D
