The German tanks didn't come out of the factory camouflaged they were often painted with camouflage in the field as from the factory it was determined afterwards where they would be stationed so they were painted with the serial number and the iron Cross but not the actual camouflage as they could be sent anywhere and it'd be a waste of time

Panzer IV J. Didn't have the second small engine for turret traverse. If it did, it would have a smaller, second muffler on the rear of the tank. Very excellent looking, must have been a lot of hard work to restore. Also, that Sherman was an earlier model from early in the war.
Indeed, this Sherman is a M4A4 built in January 1943. It served with French Army and landed in the South of France in August. Not knowing its precise history for now, it was temporaly restored in American markings. A video of it here: ua-cam.com/video/5hmdFe2gYfc/v-deo.html
This Pz.Kfpw IV is a lovely tank with some issues with the engine as it is very smokey, indicating that it needs to do serious overhaul on the engine, probably need to replace a piston ring or worn out piston. Honestly I do not like the pattern of the camouflage and I find it too glossy and shiny when it should be far more matt or opaque nevertheless I wouldn't mind driving it home!

He can say all he wants about his bloody Porsche that anyone can buy, with some cash mind you, but I would love to see his face when I pass by. There might be some danger if he drops his jaw... lol!
@@kieranh2005 an healthy engine should never smoke that way unless is badly over revved when cold started. This is a typical sign that the engine badly needs an overhaul as it could be a ruined valve seat or whatever...
The Panther was my Favourite but the Panzer IV was also a damn good work horse of a tank. Not too heavy, it could go where the Tiger could not. The KwK40 certainly was not a bad gun.
Nope it is a J Version without the extra rectangular Muffler/Exhaust (for Turretdrive engine) on left side of the Maybach Engines Muffler/Exhaust, thats the external difference between the H and J versions, H with two exhaust mufflers and J with only one

So as the war continued and the panzer fours were beginning to underperform on the Eastern front Hitler wanted a solution and he said that they should put that extra armor around the turret stating it would help tumble Russian shells when in all reality it covered quite a few viewports bringing down visibility from inside the tank

Germans could have built 3 Panzer IVs to every King Tiger. The Battle of the Bulge may have had a different outcome if Piper had a more mobile force of Panzer IVs.

Patrick; side skirts were fitted to the hull and turret sides on the H and J (meshed hull skirts)versions of the Panzerkampwagen IV.The intention was to detonate incoming AP shells at a distance to the tank itself, and also prevent magnetic or sticky mines being attached directly to the superstructure
@@ctmalton1513 Right; that would probably happen.As I understand the point of the skirts was to make any detonation find place at 'an arm's length' prior to reaching the hull itself.I don't think the plates utilized was armour plate rather soft steel (please correct me if I'm wrong).Though the hull might not be penetrated upon detonation I'm pretty sure there would be massive damage to the running gear
@@localsheriff mate, the J version only had the side skirt on the turret, it was a total downgrade compared to the H version, the j version didn't have the rotating motor for the turret resulting in a slower traverse speed. Also, they didn't add the seitenschürzen for the heat shekels, they meant it to be used against the ap rifles, later they noticed that it was good against heat shells as well. The panzer 4 is such a nice and versatile tank thought it gets overshadowed by other big cats forgetting that the pz 4 was the real backbone of the panzerwaffe

@@turncoat2526 the panzer 4 75 mm can penetrate Sherman armor like butter but the Sherman 75 can't pen the panzer 4 frontaly, even at 1000 m the panzer 4 can blow up Sherman.

Most prefer the Tiger or Panther but the Panzer IV with the long barreled 75mm was my favorite WW2 German tank.
Especially with the spaced armour. Panzer IIIs look great with it too.
Those Panzer IV tanks were the real workhorses of the Wehrmacht.

Panzer IV looks a lot bigger with schurzen. Probably often misidentified as a Tiger on the battlefields of WW2.

Engine might just not be properly warmed up.

localsheriff 1977 I assume you mean HEAT? Most pure Kinetic shells would go through the side anyway
