@@MFool64 oh yeah, props to Hades for depicting Asterios as an actual person rather than a mindless animal, in the original myth he was just a child with extremely violent tendencies but modern media makes him out to be a dumbass animal.
A himbo is nice, dumb, and beefy, Theseus is just dumb and beefy but not nice, which lands him as a jock, refer to the himbo trifecta for clarification.
I like how you can immediately tell Asterius is serious when he says the champion hasn't been himself, because it's the literally the only time I can remember where he speaks first. Every other time Theseus _always_ has something to say and will immediately start talking, but here he doesn't say a word (not even when Zag offers to knock some sense into him).
I always defeat asterius first mostly because its easier to do dispatch hin first, and we already have a 1v1 as a mid boss half the time in elysium. I kinda wish there was a chance to 1v1 theseus there instead, could have lead to some more dialogues.
@@killerbean6254 nah i think that mini boss is fine for something diferent. i kinda also wished there was a chariot boss honestly. could be a big armored one that spawns a swarm of the smaller bomb ones as one of its attacks
I also forgot to add that in certain myths, Theseus is the son of Poseidon which makes things even more awkward because that would make him and Dionysus cousins (though that would also make Theseus, Ariadne, and Asterion related since Theseus’s paternal grandparents are the siblings of Ariadne and Asterion’s maternal paternal great grandparents but this is Greek mythology where incest is a common theme, especially amoungst gods or god-adjacent characters)
i really kind of hope theseus gets a bit of a redemption arc in hades two, he's a brainless meathead who refuses to learn in this and after who knows how many years it would be nice if he finally got a hint
Can you disclose which boons and/or power ups etc. your using here? What causes the homing lightning bolts? Do you typically go for the same boons? I have been playing this game for a bit but I can't seem to take these two down with any type of regularity. The biggest problem in my opinion is that I feel that it just takes forever for me to be able to deal enough damage to finally kill them (both!) Help your boy out here! lol
Honestly, I couldn't remember even if I tried. From watching the video again, it seems to be... - Athena on dash - looks like I've got Ares on something - Zeus on cast for bouncy lightning bolts - Artemis support fire boon for the homing arrows I usually go for Athena on dash because I'm fairly reckless, but it's pretty much happy go lucky for me. The Theseus/Asterius duo is the absolute worst boss for me. It took me a very long time before I could beat them regularly. My strategy is usually to target one of them first, generally the one that bothers you more. It becomes MUCH easier if you're fighting one on one. If low damage is your issue, then consider looking up a few tutorials to see which boons work well together and compliment your play style. On the bright side, the game feels easier afterwards (aside from Hades himself)
In general: * Most duo and legendary boons are quite good. Take them where possible. If you're not yet eligible for your preferred duo/legendary boon, take one of its prerequisites. If you play your cards right, it is entirely possible to have a run with two, or even three duo boons, every now and then. * Read the boon lists of whichever gods you currently have, and try to figure out which boons you need to complete your build. * Use Fated Persuasion over Fated Authority, because the game already prefers to give you more boons from the same god over giving you new gods, and in most cases that is probably what you would have wanted anyway. * Give one nectar to each god, and they will give you a keepsake that can be used to guarantee at least one boon from that god per run (except for Hermes, who gives you an entirely different keepsake, but that doesn't matter since there is no reasonable build that entirely revolves around Hermes anyway). By switching keepsakes between regions, you can guarantee a total of three boons (which must be from different gods), but trying to do this in Tartarus is less likely to be helpful since you don't start with any boons, and don't know what kind of build the game is going to give you yet. So, I would suggest starting with a different keepsake (such as the Chthonic Coin Purse) in Tartarus, and switching when you enter Asphodel. * Max out Dark Foresight (replaces Olympian Favor) and God's Legacy (replaces God's Pride). You'll get fewer Rare and Epic boons, but the other benefits (increased gold laurels and increased Duo/Legendary odds) will give you much better odds of getting the build you actually want, even if it's slightly less numerically powerful than it could've been, and Eurydice can partly make up for the reduction in rarity if you get lucky and meet her. Note that Dark Foresight lowers the spawn rate of all permanent progression items (it replaces them with per-run items like boons), so maybe don't use it until you've maxed out most or all of the rest of the mirror. However, you do still earn a fair amount of darkness from re-fighting old bosses, so this is not necessarily a huge problem if you're consistently making it to Elysium. * Don't stand still, and don't wildly spam dash or other buttons. Think about what you are doing, and favor cautious ranged play over wild melee aggression. It's usually much safer to whittle down the enemy from afar. Once you have a better understanding of a given enemy's patterns and tendencies, you will find that more aggressive play can also be done safely, but you shouldn't be trying to run before you can walk. For this reason, you may find that the ranged weapons (Coronacht and the Adamant Rail) are easier to work with than the melee weapons.
