Those pump engines look as though they could provide a useful boost to power if they could find a way to couple them up to the shafts. Perhaps they could direct the hoses aft to serve as water jets or something
YES I was thinking that too. Having all those tyres dragging underwater doesn't do them any favours either.
@AndreiTupolev - Only trouble is they would put an even smaller engine in the 'engine room', some of them seem to be far too under-powered now. Those 'pumping engines' look bigger than most of the ones 'down below' to start with.
@@christopherlovelock9104 They have huge Diesel engines in them, some have two. They’re not underpowered at all look at the videos of them fitting out the engine rooms.
How much do they get paid per load?

I started watching the @Wavy Boats channel a few months ago, and they show luxury yachts going in and out of treacherous Haulover Inlet in Miami, FL, and this channel got recommended. It’s strangely similar. Very interesting and relaxing. Watching these river barges try to squeeze through that dam is wild.

Most of these boats engines could do another 500 rpm's without damaging them. That would make all difference with some of them getting through the doors.

iI wonder if they need a propeller that would not cavitate the water so much. By having a propeller that will bite into the water more efficiently so more power to get the boat moving forward. Also maybe too underpowered. Sounds like some of the motors are in need of maintenance. They are not firing on all cylinders. Just a thought.

"Tham thì thâm! ", quả không sai. Cát múc từ đáy sông nặng gấp đôi vì có nước, lại quá tải số lượng, từ đó trực tiếp khiến Mã lực máy yếu dần, khi ngược dòng tại cống. Trong lúc đang di chuyển trên sông rạch dài, nước nếu được bơm ra, sẽ hỗ trợ rất nhiều cho quá trình vận hành và độ bền của máy móc. Nhưng đáng tiếc, trang bị một máy bơm nước, lại cực khó với nhiều chủ ghe/thuyền!?

All the boat have additional, powerful, diesel on board to move the slurry. Why don't they set up those engines as additional power source? E.g. either diesel electric or in the back with a second propeller shaft?

@@NGUYENCHELINH And fixing a long shaft to them would produce more power when needed. With the current setup they either use the main engine for propulsion or the auxillary engines for pumping. I suggest to use the pumps also for propulsion. They could run a shaft from the front along the hold through to the back and have a propeller shaft from there. Or put the pump engines in front of the wheelhouse anyway.
Do these guys own their boats? Or are they all working for a larger company, and they’re just the operators?

Hi Jack I have seen a video of the dredging operation. It is in the the Mekong Delta, its a large barge with a tug attached sat in the middle of the delta and they are using a crane with a grapple and clam bucket. These boats are queued up as in moored side by side on two sides of the barge just waiting their turn. I saw the video within the last couple of days so its out there somewhere.

@@NGUYENCHELINH Thankyou. Ive watched a few of your videos. The water comes up high in the front and sides of the boats. Carrying all that weight is incredible. Ive noticed alot of the drivers use their feet to control the steering too.
