- Here's a recap of all the songs that competed for Luxembourg in Eurovision Song Contest from 1956 to 2024. Please, enjoy!
Luxembourg has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 38 times since its debut at the first contest in 1956. The nation participated in all but one event between 1956 and 1993, only missing the 1959 contest. After finishing among the bottom seven countries in 1993, Luxembourg was relegated and prevented from competing in 1994. The nation did not return to the contest in 1995, and would make no further appearances over the next three decades. The country returned to the event for the first time in 31 years in 2024, qualifying for the final.
With five wins, Luxembourg is one of the contest's most successful nations, and between 1983 and 1994 the nation jointly held the record for most contest wins by a single country. Luxembourg won the contest in 1961, with the song "Nous les amoureux" performed by Jean-Claude Pascal, in 1965, with the song "Poupée de cire, poupée de son" performed by France Gall, recorded back-to-back wins in 1972 and 1973, when the nation was represented by "Après toi" by Vicky Leandros and "Tu te reconnaîtras" by Anne-Marie David, and most recently in 1983, with the song "Si la vie est cadeau" performed by Corinne Hermès. The contest has been held in Luxembourg four times, in 1962, 1966, 1973 and 1984, all of which took place in Luxembourg City. In addition to its five wins, Luxembourg recorded two third-place finishes in 1962 and 1986, and in total has placed within the top five 13 times and within the top ten 20 times. Luxembourg's fortunes in the contest changed in later years, with the nation's final seven appearances in the 1980s and 1990s resulting in four placements in the bottom five, ultimately leading to the nation's relegation and subsequent non-participation.
The Luxembourgish national broadcaster, RTL Luxembourg, is responsible for organising the country's participation in the contest. It organised the Luxembourg Song Contest in January 2024 to determine the Luxembourgish entry for the 2024 event.

It is so unrealistic to see new entry form Luxembourg. Thank you Luxembourg, Thank you RTL.
such a good song aswell, in my top 5! good to see them back
Luxembourg coming back after 31 years is so iconic

@@slovakiastan it has been literally 30 years when they were in esc
@@slovakiastan why would you count 2024 if they participated in 2024
A lot has changed since Luxembourg had stopped participating in the ESC. I was concerned that they wouldn't qualify this year due to the neighbor/bloc voting.
The drastic change from Donne-moi une Chance to Fighter...wow
It's so cool that Luxembourg is back in Eurovision :D I was so glad when they made it to the final, and their song was great :D
In their first semi-final debut since the long hiatus, they already got the first shot and made to the final! Fighter was the first that've ever listened and sing along to for a Luxembourgish Eurovision song in my lifetime and one of my favorites from this year's contest! Love the message about people's perserverance and facing fears as well as the English chorus and the fast French parts. 😃
Never thought I'd see the day where this video needs updating, but welcome back Luxembourg :D
It's gonna be weird seeing Luxembourg so frequently on this series.

my favourite part about the return of Luxembourg is that they now actually require artists to be Luxembourgish while their most successful entries were not
not entirely true. They only require artists to have lived at least 3 years full time in Luxembourg to be eligible to participate. You dont need to have the citizenship. Tali is not Luxembourgish, unless I am mistaken.
Luxembourg's entry this year leaves me cold, but it's good to see them back.
Yup... true
1967 and 2024 is my most favorites
The 2017 entry was amazing
Yess i loved it!
Possibly my favorite country. Many thanks to them for such a masterpiece as 'Dès que le printemps revient' by Hugues Aufray (1964). My favorite song from Eurovision in its entire 68-year history 💌
1956 (both), 1957, 1960, 1963, 1965, 1967, 1970, 1971, 1974, 1975, 1977, 1978, 1980, 1982, 1984, 1988 and 2024 also deserve attention
Glad Luxembourg is back. I hope that they will not let us down and will send the same masterpieces as before. 'Fighter' is good ✨️
Omg that song is so good! My 2nd in that year 😊

I still think that L'amour Est Bleu should've won. 1973 is my other favorite of Luxembourg 💛
1. Anne Marie David
2. France Gall
3. Lara Fabian
Tu te reconnaitras ❤❤❤❤ my 4th favourite esc entry!
Great songs 🥳 my fav’s still are 1972, 1973, 1976, 1983, 1986 and 1988 🫶🏼 fantastic songs, especially 1972 and 1973… iconic 👏🏼
Luxembourg was my winner 6 times, in 1961, 1965, 1972, 1973, 1980 and 1986.
It never was my runner-up.
It was my last place 8 times, in 1957, 1960, 1962, 1968, 1969, 1977, 1984 and 1987.
My qualifiers and non-qualifiers of Luxembourg in eurovision 🇱🇺 (Since 2004):
OBS: I'll leave the automatic qualifiers as automatic qualifiers even if the country hadn't been my choice to win in the previous year or wasn't high for me in the semi-final format from 2004-2007, since as the entry did not face the semi-finals that year, it would be difficult for me to imagine a situation of these entries in the semi-final
*New semi-final format (2008-Current)
2024: Qualified ✅
My opinions about the country in eurovision: A great comeback for a country who had been out of the competition for so long, Even though I still think that Krick would have been a much more incredible and perfect comeback for Luxembourg in Eurovision, especially after it was leaked that if Krick had won the national final, her staging at Eurovision would have been similar to Australia 2019, then would have been a much stronger comeback entry who would obviously have received a lot of jury points, so in my opinion krick was still my winner of Luxembourg national final, but tali was also very good and a deserved qualified, Even though I didn't really liked her performance in the national final, it grew on me a lot after the performance on the eurovision stage, as I found the staging of eurovision much better than the staging of the national final for me, so grow a lot on me, but I still hope krick comes back to try for eurovision next year in 2025, now that Luxembourg faced its first semi-final in the history of the contest and managed to be another 100% Qualified country so far, I wonder, will Ukraine feel intimidated by Luxembourg having to share another country's title with a 100% Qualified streak? Or will Luxembourg end up lowering they music quality like Australia? Only time will tell, but I congratulate Luxembourg, it was a great comeback for the country and I hope other countries return to the competition soon, such as Monaco, Andorra, Slovakia, Montenegro or Bosnia & Herzegovina or perhaps other countries will debut, as it has been announced that Kosovo will maybe debut in 2025 👀
That list must've taken you a long time 🤯
@@Itistheendoftheworldasweknowit Yeah lol, It took much longer to write the opinions than the qualified ones 😂🤣
The 1967 song became a worldwide hit, although it did not win the Eurovision
My Top 3:
1) Fighter
2) Tu Te reconnaîtras.
3) Après Toi.
Imagine how confusing this was though.....
"Hey lets watch eurovision!"
"Ok, where is it?"

"Yeah we have to go to luxembourg in luxembourg to see luxembourg perform in luxembourg..."
"Ok am i going deaf or what..."
"Yeah we have to go to luxembourg in luxembourg to see luxembourg perform in luxembourg..."
"Nah im done"
"WAIT NO COME BACK"
Luxembourg is know back🇱🇺❤🇦🇹
Fair play to them bringing their A-Game with their long awaited comeback! Fighter might not be a favourite of mine but they played the game right, definitely better than another tiny European country making a comeback in the 21st century after a huge amount of success in the 20th century (IYKYK)
Monaco right?
my favourite country in esc❤most of their songs were great, this year too, but overall great to have them back! i don't speak french so I don't really know what their songs were about (google translate gives me headache) but they mostly sound sad? melancholic? so, nice that this year chose something less like that (although I liked "sad" sounding ones better, but your previous video used to leave me pretty sad too, lol, now it ends better, ha). hope for 6th win soon for Lux 🤞also wanted pointed out that they're total legend, overthrowing chanson in 1965, and then papa pingouin being like ancestor of many modern entries, lol
edit: i decided, that I actually liked their 2024 song, also I'm stupid bc I just noticed that it's sang partly in english and partly in french, great idea to stay with the language they always prefered to sing in but also trying to fit in by using english, and it worked out, yay!
Luxembourg is back after 31 years!
What. a. return. Well done, Luxembourg.

Why do I feel as if Luxembourg hasn’t disappeared anywhere these 30 years?
France Gall was awesome in 1965!! ❤❤❤
4:41 crazy thinking she was 15 at the time
12:22 Is it just me, or does the chorus of Romania 1998 _(Malina Olinescu - Eu cred)_ sound almost the same as Luxembourg 1986? 😮🧐
fact: the son of the first Luxembourgish entrant would compete in 1965 for his song "Chez nous" representing France

Was so excited for their return, but their entire 2024 season was so disappointing.
What is Luxembourg's indoor arena better for hosting of Eurovision: Grand Theatre of Luxembourg or D'Coque?
Michelle Torr would latter represent Monaco in '77 with "Un Petite Francaise"
I'm so glad Luxembourg came back, qualified and got a good result. Maybe some other countries that left the contest a while ago will decide to come back too?
(I'm looking at you, Monaco, Andorra, Slovakia and Bosnia & Herzegovina.)
Country must have indoor arena for hosting, if it wins after returning. Andorra has Poliesportiu d'Andorra, Bosnia has Zetra, Slovakia has Ondrej Nepela Arena, and Monaco now has Grimaldi Forum.
also, who do u think would represent Luxembourg next year? the NF will take place on January 25 btw
Personally I thought Luxembourg had one of the best songs this year
1965 ❤
Why weren’t they participating before? Then coming back to 2024
They were at the bottom seven spot, on my birth year no less, and then relegated the following year to give way to the other countries that were making their ESC debut like Romania and Lithuania. In 1995, the guys at the Luxembourgish delegation were invited to return, but they were still salty on the result two years before and besides the participation cost had became more pricey for a small country and met a sour fate into a 30-year hiatus from the contest.
@@YonaKuromatoki oh wait actually? They were being angry about their results, so are they (were) banned from the competition?
@@pals_312 ah nah! The broadcaster decided that they weren't able to broadcast Eurovision on those times till their comeback announcement last year. And according to researches from the Overthinking It channel and Wikipedia, it was the country's prime minister, Xavier Bettel, initiating the comeback project two years before and even campaigning for it since he's actually a fan of the contest, to the extended of my knowledge.
Before that, I learned that Luxembourg was invited to return for the 2004 contest, but yet again the guys back then were still salty as heck and its peeps, probably some, at the time were very wary to get interested in Eurovision again. Another attempt was in 2015 when, from what I've seen the wiki of Luxembourg's Eurovision journey, that there was a supposed collab between it and San Marino for the 60th edition but never came into fruition at all.
Why did you jump from 11th place to 13th place? You forgot Germany
Takes a bit more time to upload Germany.
@@SchlagerLucas it is the biggest video of the country videos, right?
I don’t know if you’re aware of it, but your Germany recap video is unfortunately blocked. I can’t see it in my corner of the world of America.

While Luxembourg finally return for long years, which makes Ukraine and Luxembourg are the only countries never failed to qualify for final
My opinion on Luxembourg
1956-1: ah yes my winner drom thst year. Love the uptempo part
1956-2: slightly more boring. Not bad though
1957: pretty dull but 4th place was deserved, good voice and progression though.
1958: now this is boring. Sorry Luxembourg, but i have to agree with the low placing.
1960: same here but a little more tempo and Luxembourgish!
1961: imo not a deserved winner but it has its charm. Jean Claude is a esc legend!
1962: much much better than his entry in -60. Love his voice here and the progression
1963: This song is pretty popular today and i can see why. I love the ending!
1964: my second that year! Its really cool and cowboyish.
1965: a deserved winner, but a little overrated imo. BUT I still like it
1966: pretty sweet! 10th is a little harsh. Top 5 worthy.
1967: a good and well respectable entry! 4th place is well deserved here.
1968: dull as hell but its quite sweet
1969: pretty dull as well but i love this more. Its a dull song in a dull year!
1970: i can see why this got last but i actually prefer this over a few songs that year! VERY nice progression.
1971: pretty forgetable. Otherwise it's nice. Sometimes a little repetitive
1972: a deserved winner even though it barely makes my top 5. A good improvement from her -67 entry which is still very strong.
1973: the first real 10/10 song from Luxembourg. Anne Marie is a esc legend. This goes into my top 3 in that year, which is very nice.
1974: can't say 4th was deserved here. But she has a cool voice and has a good song
1975: decent attempt, but sadly not my type of entry. Do like the power behind her voice.
1976: a decent song in a dull year. Feels like heaven compared to some others.
1977: pretty chill, it makes my top 10.
1978: i like this one too. Charming in a way and quite upbeat
1979: pretty decent but also dull. Mid overall
1980: i do like this one. A good song with good intentions
1981: he's back! Better than his -61 song but one of the weaker ones that year.
1982: somewhat better but i feel its dull in most parts.
1983: a deserved winner! Even though its not my winner, i really like this. Its also an amazing year so well done!
1984: downgrade. But with good audio quality it really isnt that bad.
1985: upbeat and nice but forgettable.
1986: this one is my winner of -86. This song is really really nice and she can sing well!
1987: deserved much better considering the dull songs that year. I actually really like this.
1988: my winner for -88! I love her voice too much. Really underrated attempt from Luxembourg
1989: dull. But also much better than some songs that year.
1990: i like it but it really isnt something special. Overall deserved its placing.
1991: its nice but pretty boring. I do like her voice tho so that makes the rating go up.
1992: Luxembourg have given up it seems :(. Its very very dull compared to their standard.
1993: pretty decent for 20th. Its a pretty strong entry but Luxembourg can do better.
2024: oops their back. This one was one of my favs this year. She really knows how to sing and perform.
Overall: 6/10. Good entries but some dull ones especially from 89-92. I hope they can do even better next year.
